  1. Morocco4ever,

I didn't say that I was offended by discussions on this thread, I said I was uncomfortable, which is a different thing. The one thing about posting on the internet is that no one can hear the tone of your voice when you are trying to make a point. If you could hear me you would find that the tone I wish to convey is one of a sincere desire to obey Allah and to also share what information I have about Islam. So to you Morocco4ever, as I stated earlier I do apologize if my question was taken incorrectly. I understand your situation about it being difficult to find an Islamic center near you and yes reading the Qur'an is very much recommended and seeking help from your husband is a good thing. Also know that Muslims who are either born into this deen and converted Muslims who have practiced Islam for many, many years can all tell you that as you continue to learn about Islam that you can not know everything just by reading the Qur'an without getting additional teaching from a learned person in Islam. This is why so many people devote so much time to learning Islam and the many different areas within Islam, such as hadith, tafseer, fiqh etc.

Also, please know that when I post in here concerning matters on Islam, I try my best to give reference to the Qur'an so as not to speak something that is not true. I don't feel like I was flamed, although I felt close to it :)

With that said Allahu Alim, and the matter is closed for me.

Thank you for your kind words, I feel they are definitely genuine....oh and before I forget...all the best to you on your visa journey and may Allah reward you for your sincere desire to learn more about this deen. (F)

  2. Morocco4ever,

I can appreciate your question, if you were to re-read my statement I did qualify my statement with these words: "I do understand the reason for the question as to someone wondering why Muslims don't eat pork, however what I do find a bit uncomfortable for me is the thread carried on with theories of why we don't eat pork."

If you are to look at the latter part of my statement you will see where I said that what I find a bit uncomfortable for me is the thread of messages of theories of why we don't eat pork. Morocco4ever, probably the best place to get your questions answered if you are sincere in learning about Islam or even converting to Islam is to go to your local Islamic center and speak with the Imam there or someone of knowledge meaning a scholar or sheikh about Islam.

As for the rest of the comments on the forum, I find it very interesting that a simple question such as mine could spark such passion to the point that I almost feel as though I am being flamed by my Muslim brothers and sisters for sharing hadith and the Qur'an. I make no apologies for sharing the Qur'an with anyone as it is the PERFECT word of Allah in which there are no errors.

Yet another reminder from the Quran:

“The only thing the believers say when they are called to Allah and His Messenger to judge between is: ‘We hear and we obey.” [sûrah al-Nûr: 51] These are not my words but the words of Allah. I don't believe anyone can argue with the word of Allah.

Finally, to rclouse if I am reading your statement correctly: "Because it's a person telling us God has commanded it. Most of the suffering in the world is visited upon us by men of God saying "it is God's will".

I must correct you in that it is not me or a person telling you what God has commanded but the Qur'an is the word of Allah and if you don't believe the Qur'an is the word of Allah then astagfirullah. I am hoping that the words spoken by you are due to not know what is in the Qur'an. As for all of the suffering you mentioned in the world being visited upon us by men of God saying "it is God's will". What has happened and will happen during the past, present and future is indeed God's will, the word to describe this is qadr and once again the Qur'an speaks to qadr:

"No affliction befalls in the earth or in yourselves, but it is in a Book, before We create it; that is easy for God; that you may not grieve for what escapes you, nor rejoice (vaingloriously) in what has been given to you, God loves not any man proud and boastful." Hadid, 57:23.

Say: "Nothing shall ever happen to us except what Allah has ordained for us. He is our Maula (Lord, Helper and Protector)." And in Allah let the believers put their trust. At-Tauba 9:51

Allah's word says it all, alhamdulillah

  3. When I started this process I went to see a lawyer, the first half hour was free and I asked most of the questions that I needed to ask within that half hour. What I learned from that experience was that I could do this with God's help on my own, with the use of the forum and through talking with my husband. Between the two of us, the use of the forum, lots of prayer and patience, we have done well so far with no problems. That being said, if we should run into a problem that may become something big, I have no hesitation in hiring a lawyer.

    Hope this helps (F)

  4. It was said earlier in a post that if you don't question authority then you're just following along blindly. In this case since it is the command of Allah then HE is the authority that you are questioning, which I think is a dangerous thing to question Allah. I do understand the reason for the question as to someone wondering why Muslims don't eat pork, however what I do find a bit uncomfortable for me is the thread carried on with theories of why we don't eat pork. We can wonder all day as to the reason why Allah has commanded something but the bottom line is that it is a command, that is the point I was trying to make. Please do forgive me if my question was taken the wrong way. However in saying that, I would like to post a reminder and say that insha'Allah we will never go beyond the limits of Islam.

Abû Hurayrah relates that he heard Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) say: “Whatever I prohibit you from doing, refrain from it, and whatever I command you to do, do of it what you are able. Those who came before you only perished on account of their excessive questioning and their disagreeing with their Prophets.” [sahîh al-Bukhârî and Sahîh Muslim]

“Whoever obeys the Messenger has indeed obeyed Allah.” [sûrah al-Nisâ’: 80]

“Whatever the Messenger gives you take it, and whatever he forbids you abstain from it.” [sûrah al-Hashr: 7]

Allah says: “O you who believe! Ask not questions about things which, if made plain to you, may cause you trouble. But if ye ask about things when the Qur'ân is being revealed, they will be made plain to you, Allah will forgive those: for Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Forbearing.” [sûrah al-Mâ’idah: 101]

  5. Vegan Girl,

When the time comes for you to lift your condition which is 90 days before your temporary green card expires, if you are divorced you can file by yourself to lift those conditions. However, you must prove that your marriage was a good faith marriage, and the best thing I believe is to seek counsel from a lawyer. I can't remember what form it is that you will have to file in order to have the conditions lifted, but I do know you probably would do better if you get a lawyer. My humble opinion only :D

As for the comments about saying what others are only thinking, actually I wasn't thinking that at all and probably because I know people who have come here because of marriage and liked it so much they didn't want to leave because of the situation back home which have been various i.e. politics, economics, torture. Each person knows their own situation or reasons better then anyone else.

  6. I've confused myself further. After reading Aussie Wench's shortcuts, she mentioned having the beneficiary fill out the DS-230 while you are waiting for the forms to be generated and once I receive the DS-230 from the NVC then submit the form that has already been filled out by the beneficiary along with the cover letter with the barcode back to the NVC. Am I correct in that my husband should gather all of his documentation i.e. birth certificate, police certificates, marriage certificate etc. and send them to me now, and that all of this information should be sent in with Part I of the DS-230? If so, then I suppose that my husband will need to fly back to his home country to pick up his police certificate so that I can send it in with part I?

I hope my question is clear because at this point I am not quite sure on this portion of the process.

    Thanks!

  7. Seeing how I just sent off my fee bill for my AOS, I was wondering should my I-864 arrive after January 1st, (which it more then likely will). I am not sure what to do about the taxes. What I mean by that is, although you can file your taxes beginning January 1st I don't usually file my taxes until April. I was wondering if when I send in my transcripts if it is alright to send in my tax transcripts from 05 since I won't file 06 taxes until April of 07?

    Thanks!

  8.:dance::dance: I never thought in a million years I would be happy about paying a bill...but I am tooooooo happy about it. I finally got the AOS fee bill and I will overnight it on tomorrow. My husband also received notification in his email that the NVC received his choice of agent. All is well over here in Ohio and I am as happy as can be  I know I will probably get impatient about waiting for the AOS to arrive here but for today I will be happy that I am one step closer to being with my husband :luv: By the way does anyone know if this new information will be put into the automatic voice response at the NVC and I wonder when that will happen?
  9. Ammar,

Something you might want to try is to have the embassy for Kazakhstan where you are located issue you a letter stating that they do not issue police certificates to anyone who is not a Kazakh national. If you have the ability to pick up the letter personally then do so if not then perhaps have it faxed to you. If this fails, I would bring the phone number and name of of the person you talked with at the embassy who told you that they do not issue police certificates to anyone who is not a Kazakh, to the interview. I would give this phone number to the person who interviews you so that they can call to verify with the Kazakhstan embassy that what you have told him or her is true.

I hope this might be a possible solution for you. You are in our prayers for sure!

  10. You do look like Kelly Clarkson...how about some layers around your face, some hi-lites while you are at it and pick up the latest copy of a hairstyle magazine and take it to your stylists and let her help you with the new look. Also, what you end up with depends a lot on how much time and effort you want to take in keeping the new look, that alone will help get rid of a lot of choices. I don't know about you but I don't have time to use a curling iron, flat iron, rollers etc. :star:

  11. Thanks for introducing me to this series of web videos. I really like the topics and I definitely can relate to this one, especially about standing toe to toe. I had one sister come to me and tell me that because we are women we don't have to stand toe to toe and that explained why her daughter kept moving her foot over. I really did feel like I was doing the splits ha ha. Anyway, a Muslim is a Muslim and salat is the same for all Muslims no matter what the gender.

    Thanks for the video!

  12. When you say the doctor is putting you in menopause are you meaning that she is giving you hormones to stop your cycle from happening? Please let me know if this is what you are meaning, if so then I can tell you what my experience was with that issue.

  13. Hi all,

Does anyone know about how long it takes for the AOS fee bill to reach you after the NVC has mailed it? I was told through the automatic voice response that my choice of agent form has been sent out to my husband and that a copy of it and the AOS fee bill has been sent on Dec 4. Before anyone suggests that I use James's shortcut to generate the fee bill and mail it off, I've tried that and have not been sucessful in generating the barcode on the fee bill so I am waiting for the fee bill.

Also, my husband has sent by email to the NVC that I be designated his agent of choice on the 6th of Dec. By the way we haven't received email back from NVC on whether they have accepted his email or not. Since I am asking I might as well ask all of you about that as well. How long does it take for the NVC to get back to you if you email your choice of agent to them?

Any help on these two questions would be appreciated......a big THANK YOU!!!!!!!

  14. I'm a foreign film type of girl. My favorite foreign film is a Chinese film called "Raise the Red Lantern". For pure escapism I like Bollywood films. Love the clothes, dancing and of course the singing. I know it's all unreal but a little escapism now and then is pretty nice especially considering all the bad news we are bombarded with on a daily basis.

  15. Actually, we both discuss any decisions that have to be made but the final decision is made by my husband, and I like it that way :) By the time I married my husband I was sick and tired of making all the decisions about everything, it's a relief to hand over the reigns to someone I love and trust. If my husband wasn't a good man then I definitely wouldn't let him make any decisions in our relationship.... there wouldn't be a relationship, and I wouldn't be posting on the VJ forums hahahahaha!
