  1. It just amazes me that on this century these kind of things still happen, like punishing with lashes, or killing people by throwing stones at them.

You forgot to mention hanging...as in Sadaam Hussein and the USA condoned that hanging and even gave us the final moments (tied the noose around his neck), morning tv gotta love it!

  2. Very popular in Egypt and throughout the Middle East. Lots of the Pop stars are trying for more Western look (nose reductions, lol) but the big boobs . . . quite popular. Go figure. But since I found out about skin lightening creams (Fair and Lovely) being offered to get that "lighter" more popular look for a woman, I guess I shouldn't be surprised to find out that they want surgery too.

I know ppl that travel from the States to Egypt to get eye lifts, etc done as it is relatively cheap compared to here.

I saw a report on TV that mentions India as a place to get inexpensive but good plastic surgery (not just plastic surgery is offered). Seems that there are lots of U.S. trained doctors that have gone home to offer these services. I think you can find travel packages that offer everything including your surgery.

:o Wow, it's amazing to me that people would want to change the color of their skin, go figure. I guess Michael Jackson is a walking poster for skin lightening gone wrong, because what color would you classify Michael Jackson as??? Black, white, or none of those listed  ???

As for plastic surgery, it is commonplace here in Ohio. They even have medspas where you can get tweaked (meaning botox, restylin, collagen, chemical peel etc), when you don't feel like you need to go under the knife.

  3. Hi all,

I received the IV Bill today at my UK address, and it says "Please send a cashier's check or money order in US Dollars, drawn on a US Bank, made payable to the department of state with the case number written on the front of the check (do not send cash, a personal or attorney/firm check)".

I was able to pay the I-130 bill for the CSC using an International money order from my UK bank (Barclays), and was wondering if it was possible to do this for this bill? If not, no biggie, I'll just send the forms to Mom-in-law who's happy do send the money order from her bank, and I'll pay her back.

Thanks for any help given!

I am in the USA and I had questions about this same thing myself. I went to the post office to get a MO to pay the IV bill and then I asked the clerk behind the counter if the MO was drawn off of a USA bank and she couldn't give me a firm yes to that answer so I went with a cashier's check which I knew met the requirement. I would have your mother-in-law get the MO for you. Better safe then sorry.

  4. Mu husband is the service member (O-2). I do not have a green card but I do have a dependents card which entitles me to all the military benefits.

It took less than 10mins to be given a dependants card and the enlisted girl even gave me a dummy SSN (maybe this is wrong, we haven't had any problems yet) that was needed on the card. Also we are at a base where the guard at the gates scan the cards now. I have never been stopped with my card.

I am sure I am allowed space A travel but I'm concerned that the DoD person checking passports will forget to remove the little green piece of paper or issue me a new one when I return. From my experience some of the DoD personnel and Border Patrol are not that smart or well trained. I don't know how they can deny me entry into the US after getting off a military plane where would I go?!

    Hollywood,

Wow, that is the first time I have heard of the issuance of a dummy SSN by base personnel. Since they gave you an ID card with no problem then it is like you say you can travel, but you are right, in that you are taking a chance. Perhaps your husband being an active duty member might be an advantage for you but you are still taking a chance.

If they deny you entry where will you go??? Not out of the airport for sure and more then likely you will be back on the next flight heading back to your departure point. You both have a difficult decision to make. If I remember correctly didn't you say each time you travel it gets more difficult? I know that intuition is not considered scientific and therefore not reliable but I am a big believer in intuition. I believe that if a person feels uneasy about a situation it is a sign to take notice of it and go with your gut instinct. That's my opinion only and of course you have to do what is right for you. I hope all the best for you whatever decision you take (F)

  5. Hey all,

I am still waiting on a RFE as my husband left out his g-325a. We sent out our application to California at the beginning of Nov and have only had 1 NOA since. I am currently in the US right now but my VWP expires early Feb. So we are hoping to receive an RFE before I leave. Is anyone else concerned about CSC's lack of notification?

Also, has anyone had experience with military space A travel? My husband and I think this may be an option of leaving the US and returning again. I have spent 9 out of the past 12 months here in the US. Each time I have entered is a little more difficult than the last. So we are worried the next time I try they will send me home.

I can try to help you with military space A travel. I will need more information though. Who in the marriage is the American military service member. Also, has the spouse been classified with the government as a dependent? Please note that usually in order for any foreign national to have military benefits he or she must be a green card holder. I don't know what your circumstance is from the little information in the email.

Concerning your RFE I received one, and it took about a week and a half once I was notified through the email. It's not very clear to me from your post as to whether you received notification from the USCIS yet or if you know a RFE is coming because you realized your husband's G-325a was not included in the papers you returned. As for USCIS lack of notification, for me it has been up and down, sometimes they respond quickly and sometimes it is the waiting game.

    I hope this helps (F)

  6. I thought I would start a new thread. I don't know if I will get a response on this question but I would like to know what others who are going through or completed the journey think about the question I pose:

Knowing what you know now (no matter where you are in the journey) would you do this again? Would you sponsor someone to come to the USA or would you do things differently?

As for my answer to this question, if I had to do it all again to be perfectly honest, I wouldn't do this EVER again. I love my husband dearly but I wouldn't do this visa thing again. I believe I was naive concerning the journey, I didn't think about living life in limbo, waiting for mail day in and day out from the USCIS or NVC and being at the mercy of some CO, who at the end of it all, have the ability to not grant a visa to your loved one.

Would I do it differently? Yes I would, I'd immigrate to another country (I still might have to do that if my husband isn't granted a visa), I'd cash in my 401K, take the degrees off my wall and move. I've always liked to travel and this to me would be no different other then this time I would stay in another country. Those are my thoughts only and different people are in different situations, but as for me and my situation I would NEVER do this again, and that is being completely honest.

  7. I posted here a week ago and no one answered me. Am I the only one going through a detailed review on my I130 application? I'm worried, I have no clue what detailed review means and why there is an investigation. My husband is here on the K3!

I thought the USCIS always did a detailed review on any I-130 being filed (meaning a close review of the papers you filed). I really can't say if that is what is meant in your case. Did you call the USCIS to ask them what was meant by the term "detailed review"? I would think that would be a good place to start.

    Good luck!

  8. I thought I would update everyone about my progress. I finally received the instructions to download my I-864EZ from the NVC. I would like to mention that with the instructions came the barcode of course but there was no tax authorization release form that James's shortcut has a link for. Also, I made a mistake and for some reason overlooked the fact that I was supposed to put my case number on each document that I return back to the NVC. I became ill when I was going over my paperwork and saw that little bit of information that I neglected to do, and of course I had already sent my form back to the NVC. Needless to say I called the NVC and asked them if they are going to send me a RFE on my I-864 or if in fact processing on my paperwork would be delayed because of my oversight. I was told no that it should be fine as long as I returned the barcode sheet. Now, I am hoping and praying that the information the NVC gave me is correct. If anyone out there has had this happen let me know what your outcome was please?

I also asked about my DS-230 and was told it would be mailed out this week and of course the usual line of it should reach me within a few weeks. At this point I am happy to know that things are moving along

  9. Hi there :) I know I've seen people with other advice, but the one that I remember is that you can actually just print off the barcode and glue it on! I know it sounds too simple to be true, but other people have said it works :) I hope the rest of the process goes by quickly. I can't wait until ours is getting close to complete too :) We have everything ready to go.

    Riblet,

You are not using James's shortcuts? I remember reading that post as well about cutting and pasting the barcode on the paper. The only problem I have with that is that now that I am getting close to everything being completed I didn't want to take a chance of having anything sent back to me. I thought if I could generate the barcode and put the barcode in place by computer then it would work fine. Unfortunately, it hasn't worked for me yet...this may be an omen to tell me that I just have to sit and wait it out like a lot of other people :( I don't have to like it though (F)

  10. I am so frustrated, I want to use James's shortcut but can't. When I try to use it from my computer it says I don't have enough memory so I went to the library and I could download the barcode but could not paste it on the form letter. Does anyone have any suggestions. I am still waiting on my I-864 to come from the NVC and they told me they sent it about 3 weeks ago and last week when I called to check on it they told me they just sent it out and it can take 2-4 weeks to reach me(somebody lied to me 3 weeks ago). Also, I just paid my IV fee bill the other day and it would be nice to use James's shortcut if possible for that as well to generate the barcode for the DS-230. If anybody has any suggestions on what to do please let me know because it is going pretty slow now.
  11. Hi

I am afraid that all you can do at this stage is wait for the interview date, you may be able to e-mail the Embassy and explain that you have just found out your wife is pregnant, it may speed your interview date but do not bank on it. Good luck.

    Janice

I agree with you on this. I had a surgery scheduled and I asked NVC about speeding my paperwork up and was told to fax the information (i.e. surgery, reason husband needed to be here early rather then later and a letter from the doctor stating exactly the problem) over to the NVC supervisor and they provided me with a name. They did stipulate that once the fax is received it will take approximately 2 weeks to get back to me with a decision and then I would also have to notify the consulate of the situation and then they would have to approve it from there end as well. At the end of this conversation they said it is no guarantee it will be approved. Luckily for me, my situation cleared up on it's own and if I have to have surgery I might be able to hold out until the summer and I am hoping my hubby will be here by then.

You might be better off waiting, and since your wife is at the beginning of her pregnancy it's not as though she is ready to have the baby anyday unless she is in a situation where she has to be on complete bed rest which some women do .

    Good luck! (F)

  12. Hi there,

This is James Wife, Angie. We started all of this a long time ago it seems. I have been here in the States waiting for James to join me from the UK. We have been apart for nearly 4 months. I came here to set up domicile. It seems I just wait every day for him to get the letter for an interview date.

Apart from the pain of being apart all this time, I also worry that he will not get approved for some reason. I am working part time, and we have over $100,000 in my bank account over here. My husband is well educated and has no criminal record. Can you see any reason we would get denied? I am looking for some reassurance and some tips to get through the seperation. I am finding it very difficult right now. If only we had a date for the interview.

    Angie

I wish my timeline looked like yours. :crying: I haven't seen my husband since June. I thought to myself after reading your post what is the difference between your country and mine...Europe I suppose, and the fact that my husband lives and works in Saudi Arabia. Well I certainly can empathize with you concerning the seperation and not knowing whether you will indeed be together when all is said and done. Cheer up, don't let the negative thoughts get you down, think positive. Hopefully, the interview date will come soon. If you start getting depressed just pull up my timeline and be thankful that you are further along in the process then I or many others are  All the best to you (F)

  13. you can still send in prior editions, I did. I do get a RFE, great! I am ready will give them anything, IMs, emails, wedding pics and all the affidavits they want. It would be nice to have them see all this before the interview.

I'm like you, I sent in my paperwork before this new addition. I didn't send any photos, emails or phone bills. I don't have my husband on my lease because he is not living here in the USA and we don't have a joint bank account either. However, that said, at the time I filled out my I-130 they weren't asking for all of this. I did get a RFE and it wasn't for proof of my marital relationship, what it asked for was my husband's birth certificate. We are now further along in the process meaning I am waiting for my I-864 paperwork to arrive and I just paid my IV fee bill.

We will be prepared for the interview with emails, photos, and affidavits from friends, co-workers and family concerning the knowledge of our marriage and that is about it. Because I can't have him on the lease until he arrives, the bank joint account I don't have him on since he is overseas and he needs to be present to sign on the account from what I understand. That's about it.
