    Hi all!
Just wanted to stop by and say, don't lose heart! We've been waiting for GC since July of last year, and two weeks ago, we got a letter in the mail saying the card was on its way. Two days later, it arrived! We were approved one day after the anniversary of my beloved's arrival in the US. We can do this! Continuing to hold us all in prayer and in Light during this LONG waiting process.

Green card applications taking twice as long or more, than the time indicated on USCIS websites.

Yes, many people have filed for N-400 while waiting.  From what I understand is the N-400 is adjudicated at your local field office (that is at a small local office such as in my case Reno and not at CSC).  In your case that would be San Diego or a field office close to you.  Once there, it's married with your I-751 (CSC or VSC transfers your app to them) and both are adjudicated together or within a week. There are threads about this and one of the discussions can be found here.

    edross,

you do not need the fiscal 10 year GC to apply.  Yes, application window for the N-400 opens 3 months prior to the expiry of your original GC date, which should have been the year 2015.

The ROC will be transferred to the local office if you submit the N400.  You don’t have to have an approved ROC to file the N400, but the ROC has to be completed before naturalization can be granted which will now be handled by the local office.

We applied online yesterday for my husband's n400.  Tonight I got a text that said his status was updated.  Apparently, yesterday they mailed his receipt notice.  Tonight the update was that they mailed him his biometrics appointment letter.  So...I am very happy we finished his naturalization application and mailed it in.

Yes. All dates are on my timeline. Roc was approved after I sent the N400. I had the 10 yr card in hand before N400 interview.

Definitely.  In our case the ROC was 13 months in processing, and if one believes the published processing times of CSC, we were looking at another 3-4 months, so we went ahead and filed my wife’s N400 in mid-January.  Interview in Detroit is already scheduled for April 10th.  We know the ROC has to be approved as well, but most of the stories we read show that the ROC is dumped to the local office when an N400 is submitted, and they handle both.

To the OP, if naturalization is the ultimate goal, why wait.  Get the N400 clock started, and as @Harmonia said, these are governed by local office processing times, which vary nationwide.

    Good Luck!

    Guys,

You can sign up for informed mail delivery from USPS https://informeddelivery.usps.com/box/pages/intro/start.action instead of waiting for the mail and checking, USPS images what is coming in the mail to you. Saves a lot of time and waiting. At least we know what mail piece is coming, specially since this case transferred thing from USCIS.

Mrs_Lyds said: U know what? I check the other application number and it says that on March 5th my case was sent to the local office. I wonder what does that mean

The 'case transferred to your local office' merely means that the service Vermont and California service centers have sent notification to the local offices so that they can set up times for your bio.

Sure, I know that for most of us our bios were done long ago.  But the computer system was just in late February programmed to send these notices, so it just zapped out the complete list that was in the system, including all who had already done bios.

So now the system is in place, so new filers will be getting those 'case transferred to local office' on a regular basis.

And yes I know that a few have had their 10 year green cards approved after they got the 'case transferred' notice . . . but those people would have been approved anyway at that same time, even if the computer system had not been set up to send the notices.

All the speculation here reminds me of conspiracy theories.  :-)

For 99% of us . . . nothing has changed

me too...  Since signing up at https://myaccount.uscis.dhs.gov/, I got an email  about 2 days ago saying " We are still reviewing your case and there are no updates at this time. We will notify you when your case status changes. We last took action on your case on February 26, 2018."

I still don't have anything that says it has been moved to the local office or such.

And of course still waiting for the biometric appointment letter so i can go and do my fingerprints. Then however long they want to take to review my case , do ROC and (hopefully) grant me the 'full' GC , I am ok with that. I just want to not have to worry if I somehow missed that fingerprint appointment!

Just saying hello to fellow July fillers.
    I'm waiting also.

Kind of more stressed since I've filled from overseas duty station and didn't receive biometric letter. Only extension notice and that stupid number on there doesn't work for tracking.

So I'm sitting and waiting blindly.

Yes, we can confirm this (I-751) July 2017 filer.  Our attorney confirmed this with her own contact with USCIS, but she was surprised as well.  Oddly, our USCIS.gov status still says our files were transferred to our local office on March 4, and yet the approval date on the written paper says it was approved February 28, 2018.  But, the other site at my account.uscis.dhs.gov shows it approved.  No word on green card production, but we'll keep updating our timeline every step of the way.  Ever since Monday when we received the approval in the mail, we were hoping many of you would also receive approval as well.  Although we are happy, we want everyone here to have the same happiness so we will continue to follow all of your timelines.
