  1. Hello! My fiance's medical in on Tuesday and we are confused on how much it will actually be. He got an email saying it will be 350 pounds. On the website, it says for non-immigrant visas is its 405 pounds?

Furthermore, it says to have your DS-260, but K-1 visas only have to do and bring the DS-160 correct?

I was in the Embassy for about an hour. It was a 10am appointment (got there a bit early to get through security etc.) and I was out at about 11am as I didn't have long to wait between the document window and the interview window. I had a return train booked for about 4pm because I expected to be a few hours, so I had time for lunch and wander around the Carnaby street etc. after. Was nice to know I wasn't running against the clock because it was a late afternoon train.

However my appointment was in August and I've since read people having to sit in the embassy for 3-4 hours since then.

Okay, thank you so much for the insight!

I've got my medical tomorrow and I've got a story to tell about the travel when I write a review of it all. I'm in the North Eastern Scottish Highlands. One flight was cancelled two delayed finally got into London at 00:15. Then to a Travelodge by 01:00

Oh geez! Thank sounds like a stressful time :( Good luck tomorrow!

  4. Hello! I was wondering if there interviews for November open yet? I was booking the interview and although I can do it sooner (tons of days in October), most of the times are too early for fiance or at least it earlier times will cost us more in time and money since he lives in northern England. I noticed there was no days open in November yet, and I didn't know if that was due to no interviews left or if they haven't opened those days.

Thank you so much for the response, I 100% intend on being honest and open about everything (answering both yes to drug use and harm on the medical questionnaire) I definitely want to work with the entire process and system in place than go against it, even if it means delays, it'll be worth it!

Thank you so much! I'll be talking to my GP and see if they can write a letter of confidence about me not being a harm to myself/others and in terms of my mental health/history of self harm.

I'm spending my time reading success stories instead and following the steps they took, and it has definitely given me hope. Thanks so much, I'm hoping for the best but also open to bumps and delays along this process, I just want to be sure to do everything by the book. thanks again!

Hello! I know its been a long time since this was posted, but what was the response from being honest? My fiance smoked weed when he was in amsterdam. We dont want to deny it, but I dont want him to be banned either. (This is for london medical)

London will accept just about anything, but somebody other than the sponsoring party should verify the salary. Does she have a tax return showing enough income? Use that as the proof of income. Get a transcript even better, London does not require multiple proofs on a K1. They will accept a W2, or pay slips too. Pick the one that is easiest for her to get.

    Free tax return transcript https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript

Okay thanks! Yeah she has a tax transcript.  So it's fine if the signature is faxed or scanned?

  7. My co sponsor is the branch manager at her work.

Does the employment verification letter has to be signed?

If so, is it alright if she is the one signing it? She would be the person in charge of signing this sort of document. (Its a small company with no real hr department) and the only other person above her is the owner and he is in another state.

If a signature is required and cant be from her, does it have to be a wet signature or can it be faxed?

I was in the August 6th shipment and I booked mine on August 8th for the following week. Ceac changed to Ready on August 12th.

I had it yesterday, August 16th, and it lasted 2 hours. It would have been 90 minutes but the nurse who does the chest x-ray is the friendliest man I’ve ever met and we got into a huge conversation abiut evolution. Everyone there was just so friendly, I can’t stress that enough.

Thanks so much for the info! Quick question that Im not sure if you will know the answer too. When you called and booked the appointment, did you need to already have your police report? His come in the mail in about two weeks or so. We wanted to call and book the appointment now, but online it says before calling to have the police thing.

It usually lasts about 90 minutes.

I booked ours 4 weeks ahead but we were offered appointments earlier than that. They also offer slots when appointments have been cancelled so there is flexibility. For your fiance I would suggest an early afternoon appointment to allow time to get there comfortably. I booked our train home 2 hours after I expected our appointment to be finished (we traveled by underground from St Pancras and had a 10 minute walk from the tube station, to give you an idea).

    thanks!

I think I booked mine a couple of weeks ahead. They will tell you once the Embassy has your paperwork because if the embassy doesn't have it, they can't do the medical from what I remember. If he has an 11am appointment, I would think he should be done by 1 at the very latest. So book a 3pm train home? That way he can be a tourist for an hour or two and not rush anywhere.

Very easy medical, just take a real deep breath when doing the X-ray!

    Good luck!

    Thanks!

  11. Hello! For the UK medical exam, how long does it take? My fiance lives in Northern England and has to take like a 4 hour train ride down to london. We havent booked the medical yet, but lets say it was at 11am, around how long does it last? We need to know so he can book the right train home!

    Thanks in advance :)

Also, just curious before we call, anyone have any idea of how far in advance the appointments typically are? Such as, if i called tomorrow, it would be a next free appointment be in two weeks, or a month if not longer?

As a k1 applicant,  you pay nothing to NVC

Thank you! I was confused for a moment

While at the NVC, K1s get a casefile number for use while in the DOS system. It is different from USCIS Receipt number that is assigned by the particular service center. To my knowledge, K1 visa seekers shouldn't have any fees assessed by or paid to the DOS (NVC). In the next phase of the K1 visa process, at the interviewing embassy/consulate, there is a fee assessed with the visa application.

    HTH,

Good luck on your immigration journey.

    thanks!

  13. Hello! Im about to send in my form, but I realized I did not answer question 52. Provide the nature and degree of relationship (for example, third cousin or maternal uncle)

I think I skipped it because I thought you only answer if you are related to your fiance (which I am not), but it does not say don't answer,

What do I put, if anything?

  14. Hello!

So, we are ready to send in our 1-129f tomorrow and we had put it in a 3-ring binder with protective sheets before realizing it isnt prefered. I know the binder and sheets will just thrown out and reorganized how they like it, be we already spent the money and I have no use for it for other than this.

I know people have sent it in using binders and sheet (as seen from youtube videos and posts from a few years ago).

Do you think it will be fine if we just send it in the binder or should we just disassemble it and send it off with binder clips?

The change of name by deed poll back to Atkins should be enough. Is it the original document, showing the date the name was changed?

As he was an adult you may need to get your police certificate in both names to be sure.

Yeah I have the original with the wet signatures and the date. I wasn't sure if  when i send my packet in, if I should have the original or a copy of it (I would assume a copy)

You should be absolutely fine.  At what age did he return to using Atkins?

My issue was that my ID was different. birth certificate was in one name and everything else in another so I needed to get a deed poll done and collect proof I have been using my name since I was a minor. So I got a copy of a GCSE certificate! LMAO

He was 20 years old when he changed his name back, I have a copy of his deed poll changing it from Warren to Atkins. Im just worried if they ask for when it was changed to warren since he was younger and doesnt have the record of it.

  17. So i have a similar issue. My fiance (He is from England and is coming to the US) last name is Atkins. He was born with that name (on his birth certificate) and when he was a kid, his mom married and he name got changed to Warren. Well when he got older and his mom left the guy, he decided to change it back to Atkins. Would I have to show this in my i-129 form?  We have record of the change from Warren to atkins but not of the one when he was younger.. On all his documents (passport, birth certificate, id) His last name is atkins. The only mention of Warren is when I listed it in other names used on the form.

So im just not sure if I have to provide the documentation of him changing it?  It says on the relevant documents but im not sure what that means exactly.

Proof of Legal Name Change if either the US Citizen and/or foreign fiance is using a name other than that shown on the relevant documents.
