    Hi Everyone

    As promised, here's the review.

So our appointment was at 9am in Down Town San Diego. We arrived half an hour before.

Pretty standard airport style security check.

My husband and I waited approx 20 minutes before my name got called.

We were asked to swear and oath which was expected.

The officer was extremely nice and chill. Firstly she asked questions about our relationship, our travels and basically our whole story.

Where we met, how often I fly to the United States and how often my fiance used to visit me back in London.

She then asked for our wedding and other photos.

I had our photos printed at Walmart ( initially I was concerned because I know that they wanted everything to be in a binder but she was fine with regular photos).

She then asked for some information in relation to the original application, just verifying everything like our address, my name, date of birth, city I was born etc.

After the questions she told us she is happy that we have a bonafide relationship.

Unfortunately, it was not all good news.

She mentioned to me that it's all approved ( in theory ) however, because of the fact that my medical examination from the sealed packet from my point of entry was not in the case file. She cannot approve it just yet.

I was like, but that's impossible the CBP officer has approved my entry and she said I know. Normally if something is missing in the envelope you will not be allowed in.

However, she promised me that she will do everything she can took look for it which put my mind at ease.

The officer said don't worry, I will find it and if not worst case scenario. I'll just do another medical.

I know this delay can be annoying, but in my head I'm just thinking that my EAD is still on process so in the event that this delay lasts for more than 90 days then I know I can still work and start our lives together.

I'd like to say I am not stress or bothered about this but I am. However it is what it is.  I'll just pray and have faith that they will find it.

So just to conclude the interview is fairly easy specially if you have nothing to hide. Show some emotions, show the officer how much you love your spouse and everything will be fine.

    Goodluck August filers ;)

Oh I forgot to add, she gave me a piece of paper explaining that my GC that is soon to be approved is conditional has to be renewed 90 days before it expires in 2 years time.

( Which I believe the majority of us know). We were both asked to sign that piece of paper and was given to me.

WOW! That's so fast!!! do you mind sharing your timeline?

    Sure

So AOS filed on the 13th of August

then NOA1 for (EAD, AP and GC) was on the 21st of August

If I remember correctly 5 days later they mailed me the biometrics and was scheduled on the 10th of September

Then Interview notification was just yesterday the 17th of October ( now date wise, not sure yet as I am still waiting for the mail to tell me the interview date).

My lawyer did tell me that San Diego field office is working quite fast. One of her clients got her GC 4 months after filing.

    So fingers cross.

    Good luck to all

Well, I would say call your embassy because it seems to be an error on their behalf as you have clearly moved out of the K1 process. So, before you starting submitting any personal documents, contact them first to be sure.

Yeah I sent them an email to query it.

I thought it was weird they're asking me to send my passport back to the UK when I already left.

And you are sure the email came from the embassy and not USCIS?

In the email, did it have your K1 case# (WAC#) or did it have your AOS case# (MSC#)?

Definitely the embassy as the email address was the same one they use to notify me before in regards to Passport pick up, appointments. etc.

Nope my MSC# or WAC# is not on the email. It is so strange but it seems legit cause I logged in to the document or appointment booking system for the United Kingdom and it's toggling me to book an appointment with DX to have my passport picked up in their Central London PO box.

Okay, looking at your VJ timeline, you are filing your K1 visa, not the AOS which in this forum means Adjustment of Status (the part where you apply for your green card).

So you are not here in the US and are applying to marry your US fiancé here in the US, correct? Or are you married already to your US fiancé and now in the US and have filed for your green card.

If you have applied for your green card that would be the AOS filing which means, you are not dealing with the embassy any longer and are dealing with USCIS here in the US. So, if you can please explain what is current status so that I know how to give you the correct feedback.

I haven't updated my timeline to be fair. I already have the k1 visa, my POE was last July got married last week of July. We sent the adjustment of status (GC) packet last August and finished my biometrics last week.

That's what I thought too, why does the embassy need my passport? I already have my k1 visa and they already cancelled my b1/b2 and c1/d whilst issuing me the k1. It's just all so strange to me why they need my passport again. Just called my lawyer and she was also baffled about this.

Hate to say this but you don't need a lawyer to fill out the paperwork and collect the documents. But yes your lawyer should have told you this.

I agree, but it was covered by my husband's legal insurance so we thought, what the hell just use it.

I guess it's mandatory to send those items back to the embassy.

How did you sent yours, the instructions given to me on email was to drop it off in the PO box in London which is going to be a little tricky.

I might just contact the embassy.

You were supposed to send in a copy of your biographical page, a copy of your k1 and entry stamp from your passport. This shows proof that you entered the US legal and what your immigration status was at time of entry.

    Thanks for your response.

I'll get on that straight away, It's funny that our lawyer didn't mention anything about this.

You can call them. You're probably not the first one that has had this issue.

Usually there's also an internal e-mail for the Immigration Visa Unit at the embassy. For example the IVU for the embassy in Kyiv, Ukraine is KyivIV@state.gov

    Good shout out thanks mate

Another thing I can add and I only saw this happen once.

ask the embassy when your visa is approved. Ask them if they can do the process after your shifts end. However again if it goes to administrative processing it will go after that and you may end up waiting but you can ask to keep your passport and give it to them later to get the visa. Again I saw this only once and I’m not even sure of the validity of that person as I didn’t know personally. But they had to have the passport so they asked if this was possible.

Mhmmm that's a good point! Maybe I can get British Airways to write a letter to make that possible. Just to clarify, when you mean process does it mean just stamping my passport with the visa? I wonder if that is possible. The problem is there is no way for me to contact the US embassy here in London I was thinking of asking my lawyer but yet again she probably won't know either as this is purely administration.

Well up till interview you won’t have a problem. But at the interview they will keep your passport and give it back to you after that. But yes you can’t be working as a cabin crew after your entry to US. I think k1 was a bad choice in your case.

Maybe giving your notice before you schedule your interview is the best idea as they will keep your passport. And leave by the time of your interview.

Very Risky but thanks for sharing your thoughts about this. Just gonna have to explore all avenues before the k1 comes.
