Has anyone here applied under the 5 yrs instead of the 3 yrs marriage requirements? Just curious to see what evidence they asked you for during the interview.

I applied under 5 year rule and the only thing I was asked for was my green card and passport. But I am not married and don’t have kids so there’s not much they would have asked for besides taxes. I brought the transcripts but they were never requested.

i just checked online application status on

    https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/after/status.html

and i have seen my application locator number so i called them and spoke live agent there and she said am eligible for over night deliver and my application is in process not sure exactly when will be ship but she transfer me to another dep to pay over night charges of $15.? and spoke a gentleman and explain all my requirement so he put my dates and all and said we will try to have your passport as fastest we can and u see charges for over night deliver when we charge your card and you will get tracking number in your e mail

now waiting game begin hope i get my passport in time!

I wouldn’t panic too much about it. I didn’t ask for expedite or overnight shipping and my passport took 14 days. I think you’ll be fine and get it in plenty of time. The status updates were also not in real time for me. When I got the email saying that my passport was done and being mailed to me and that it would take 2-3 days, I checked the mail tracking number they sent me and it said it was already in my mailbox. And lo and behold, when I got home there was a passport waiting in my mailbox for me.

Something  very weird happened today ! I checked with my receipt number it show's  that

    (We scheduled your oath ceremony

We sent a notice with the date, time, and location of your oath ceremony to the address you gave us. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you do not receive your notice by November 10

2018, please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request to request a copy of the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.)

But nothing update when i login into my account

And now just few moment's ago i received notification in my account update (just received text message) so i login to my account and it have my oath scheduled oct 29th at 11am

Weird in that matter is why nov 10 mention because my oath is on oct 29 🙄

what if i never received notification in my login account or latter in mail!!

But finally thank GOD my journey is about to done

Please some one can update my time line

    And

good luck for all who is still watting for there case best wishes and prayer to ur Way's

Because it’s 30 days after they issue the notification. It’s standard even though the date they say to contact them is usually after the date of the oath ceremony.

I got today the notification that people normally receive on the day of the interview that the "case was approved and  put in line for oath ceremony".( Interview was June 25th).

I sent an inquire on Sep 12, one day after they responded by email  saying my case was within their current processing time.(I got so frustrated and impotent) I saw somewhere someone saying that after sending

an inquire they took action, it happened to me as well. I don't even know if is coincidence or not. Now I need to have more patience until they finally schedule my oath ceremony. @CTgal18 @Sukie@AmusingCamera

I’m so glad that they’ve finally approved you!! I know there’s still more waiting but at least they haven’t forgotten about you and you are one step closer to your oath.

Lol, I thought it was USCIS trying to screw me over one last time for old times sake. Because we obviously had to fill out the voter form, and passport application on the day of the oath. On those forms we had to clearly mark we were U.S. Citizens, which was true given that we'd taken the oath and had received our certificates with the naturalization date clearly on them. But if through some clerical error USCIS somehow marked me down as someone who naturalized 2 weeks that'd obviously be an issue. I'm glad someone's confirmed.

I think for status updates, it just automatically puts in whatever date they actually do the update on the computer and is not an actual reflection of anything. Some people don’t even get that status, it’s just a matter of if they feel like getting around to it or not. The only date that matters is the one on the actual certificate. I registered to vote online and applied for passport at my local post office the same day of my oath and both went through without any issues whatsoever.

My oath ceromy says it’s at 8:30am. The notice does not say to be early. Is it safe to assume that I should be there at least an hour early? The court house does not open until 8:30 so I’m a bit conflicted.

The time on the notice is probably the “early” time so they have enough time to check people in before the actual ceremony starts. Mine said to be there at 10am. I arrived about 30 mins earlier (9:30am) and there were people waiting already but there was another ceremony going on so we all just had to stand there and wait until it was done. At 10, the other ceremony was done so we could be seated. The actual checking in process didn’t start until about 10:45 or so and the  ceremony didn’t start until about 11:15.

  7. It may not be what the OP meant but it is very possible to have a cousin who has a brother that is not considered your cousin. Say my cousin is my mom’s sisters son. If my cousin’s father (who is only an uncle by marriage but has no blood relation to me) has another child with another woman, he will be my cousin’s half brother but will not be considered my cousin because neither of his parents has any blood relation to me.

    Hello everyone

I applied, by mail, for my citizenship based on a 3years-marriage. I have already got my 10year green card. I got married in 2013 and entered the US in 2014.

I mailed-in my application in May 2018, qnd had my fingerprints done on June 6th, 2018.

I have noticed that there is a lot of people who have filed online and in the same uscis center ( Jacksonville, fl), have already got their interview scheduled, and within less/more than a month from the date of their biometrics appt. The surprising thing to me was that some of them have applied online a month or two after me and have already got their interview scheduled for September while my status is still under active review..

What could it be? To be honest, I am sure now that appliying online makes it much faster than offline...

Has anyone of you been or is in the same situation as mine? If so, for how long did you wait before getting an appt for the interview?

Unfortunately processing time even in same office can vary. They could still be doing security checks or name checks on you for some reason, or your file hasn’t made it to the office for some reason.

I filed in February and there were two filers from my office, one in January and one also in February.  The other Feb filer took slightly longer to get an interview date than us other two. And after interview, the Jan filer got his oath scheduled 11 days after interview, I got mine 26 days after and the other Feb filer is 65 days post interview and she still doesn’t have her oath letter.  So it’s not necessarily going to be same amount of time just because you’re in the same office.

Thank you so much. Since i  get "Passed the test, decision cannot yet be made about your application" on my N652, I was thinking that they are going to send me approval document.

Now it make sense. In the status they said "we will mail you a letter when we schedule your naturalization ceremony".

Thanks a lot. I will inform when I receive it.

No problem. Congrats on the approval and I hope you get your oath letter soon!

    @CTgal18

Thanks for your reply. But am i not going to get some document that will say approved or something?

Nope. Only document that would have said that is the N652 form you got at your interview had they approved it on the spot. They’re not going to mail out another saying that you were approved. The only other document you’re going to get now is your oath letter.

On the day of my interview the officer mentioned that would make some changes in regards to my trip. She did not give details and I did not asked why either. I thought it was something simple that would not affect my case.

Now over 2 months trying to guess what went wrong, a friend of mine asked me if when I filled out the form I put the flight tickets date or real date of my entrance to the USA which is normally one day after since check in time for all of my international trips took place at night. He knows someone that the case delayed almost 4 months... So I realized that was my stupid mistake... @Sukie @CTgal18

That’s so annoying though. Why would it take 4 months for someone to verify some travel dates, seems like it could be done a lot sooner. Ugh. I hope you get scheduled soon and it doesn’t take two more months to get an answer.   🙁

  12. You only need to send passport photos if you live outside of the US. If you do live outside the US and need to send photos, you will have to mail the photos along with a paper-filed application. People residing outside of the US are not eligible to file online.

And it will prompt you for payment at the end when you’re ready to submit the application. It will automatically take you to the site where you need to submit payment.

    Hi everyone,

My case was updated at around 6am this morning with a notification that my biometrics appointment had been scheduled.  In the notification it says that the appointment time may take a while to appear in the Documents tab online.  Do you know how long it takes from the appointment notification being posted online to the appointment letter being posted online?  Also do they work on the weekends ??  It would be nice to know whether I need to check it tomorrow or whether I can leave it till monday.

    Thanks

    Poohbear72

It likely won’t appear until Monday afternoon-evening. That’s based on my experience with biometrics and interview letters that I got notifications for on Saturday early am. Neither was uploaded until Monday evening.

How accurate is the estimated time on my.uscis.gov on your case status page? Mine says 17 months. For people who've received an interview, was this time frame accurate?

Not that this will be the case for everyone, but it seems like it’s very inaccurate for most people and cases seem to be completed months before the estimated completion time. In my experience, my initial time was 13 months and I finished a week short of 6 months.

  15. The officer at my interview said the sentence out loud twice without me needing him to. If I recall the sentence I wrote was “we pay taxes” so it’s not like repeating it was necessary at all.  Like you said, I’m sure it’s dependent on individual officer and what kind of mood they’re in. Mine was extremely nice and I feel as if I needed him to repeat anything, he would have. Good luck to your mother in law, I hope her interview goes well.

I just received an 18 months extension on my pending I-797 petition and the 18 months starts from the expiration date on the green card!!  I really don't understand what's going on... I already applied for naturalization based on 3 years rule and I'm waiting for the interview.. So,  I'm not sure why did they send this extension now??  Anyone had a similar experience??

Anyone whose removal of conditions was still pending as of June 11,2018 is receiving this letter regardless of if you applied for citizenship or not.

    you can sponsor your parents as soon as you got your gc;

you can sponsor your parents as soon as you are naturalized, dont have to wait till you get the passport

the difference is:  you can get your parents here a lot faster (10 or 15 years differences, in some countries) when you become us citizen

Green card holder cannot sponsor parents, only US citizens can.

Just heard from someone who had an interview 2 days after me( same office, city...) and his oath is schedule for September 06th,

and I was just wondering Why I'm not in this scheduled group? I tried to schedule an info pass at USCIS to find out What's going on and guess what?

They are not accepting  at this moment... I swear that I try to understand how USCIS works but its impossible, I heard another case that 2 family members submitted at same day

and one is already citizen and the other still waiting for interview.(They live in NY)

Wow. I’m sorry that it’s taking so long and that you can’t seem to get an answer about why it’s taking so long. 😔
