  1. I had my oath ceremony today. The letter also said 9.30 am but it started about an hour or so later. They did not say how many people were there from how many countries, which I would have loved to know. It felt like there were maybe around 60 people to be sworn in, and the room was full with mabye 100 people. Anyways, the judge seemed like a nice person and told us that now "nobody can kick you out anymore" 😜 They talked a lot about the importance of voting, and you could register to vote right there too. No video message and no anthem was played, it was a nice ceremony on this hot day. We went for American Coney Dogs to celebrate right after. I am happy to be done! Good luck to all of you who are still waiting!

  2. Does anybody know how recent the egov status is? I am waiting for my new oath ceremony date (had to ask to reschedule). The cancellation of the old one showed up in my USCIS account on June 7. Ever since I passed the interview, I had not looked into the egov status so now I wonder if they put me in line for new scheduling or if that is just the old status from the first oath appointment. I know I just have to be patient, but I have read too many horror stories here about rescheduling, and I just want to have the new date 😐

I think everyone who lives in Michigan will be  interview & the oath ceremony is in Detroit Michigan & biometric is in Grand Rapids. Like all of my immigrants neighbors & friends that I know who lives in Michigan, I’m not sure if there’s other places where they have a oath ceremony for people who lives in Michigan.

No. I had my biometrics and the interview in Detroit, and my oath will be there as well (in a courthouse downtown). If you had your biometrics in Grand Rapids, your oath might be there too, or in one of the other locations on the west side of Michigan (I think it was Grand Haven maybe?). If you go back in this thread / discussion here, you will see people talking about that topic. See the little numbers on the bottom of the page? "Page 41 of 41"? If you go back to previous pages you can read what other people have talked about. A bit ago there was a person who waited long for their oath because they were living up north. They did some research and found out that oaths in the west and north of Michigan can take longer to be scheduled because they have less ceremonies there.

I’m located in Michigan, my friend naturalization interviewed was last May 13, 2019 and her oath ceremony was last June 10, 2019 we live in the same area & I got interviewed last May 9, I’m still waiting for my oath ceremony schedule I just emailed uscis few minutes ago to follow up..

I assumed you were in Michigan since this is a Detroit thread ;) But there are different areas in Michigan, and as I said, depending on where you live, your oath might be later or earlier. If you live in the west or north of Michigan you might get a later oath because they don't hold as many ceremonies. A woman in this thread here told her story of how she waited for her oath, just go a couple of pages back. I hope you hear something soon. And me too, with my rescheduled oath.

I had my naturalization interview last May 9, in Detroit mi and I’m still waiting for my oath ceremony :( my friend interview May 13 & had oath ceremony last June 10, 2019. Last week i emailed the uscis to asked when is my oath ceremony schedule they replied after 24hours that  I’m still in the system for schedule once schedule slot available they will notify me thru mail & Online 😔 I’m so sad. They say it only takes 2-3 weeks after interview then oath ceremony 🙁

Where are you located? Someone in this discussion here said that if you are on the west side or in the north of the state, your ceremony will not be in Detroit and it might take longer to be scheduled because there are less oath ceremonies in those areas.

  6. Does anyone know how recent the egov status check is? Mine now says that I am in line for the oath, but since I haven't checked there since I passed my interview, I am not sure if this is still the status from the old oath appointment or already the new one. They sent me the "your oath was cancelled" note as reply to my request for rescheduling on June 7th.

Just thought I would drop in and let you know I have my Oath Ceremony set for 4th July.

USCIS didn't send any notifications to me which has been a common trait with notification to me about appointments..

Archibald Ohio at Sauder Village.   Our wedding anniversary is on the 1st so this will be an extra celebration..

What a journey I have had, many of my co-workers cannot understand why this takes so long and what we go through and the biggest surprise they get is the cost ...

    Good Luck to all.

What a neat day for the ceremony.

I was planing to visit Spain and Germany this summer but every thing changed once I was scheduled for the interview on top of that it was a couple of weeks to get an American passport which I don't understand why its like that,  in Spain you go to a police state to get a passport , it costs 25 euros and takes them less than 10 min to get it done.

Nice, I am just going to visit Germany :) And you can get a US passport quickly, but it costs more.

that was quick then, It been a whole week for me  and I was approved on the spot.  I hope I know soon because  I have friends that want to be present there.

I was hoping it would not fall into a specific time range either, but of course it did. I will actually be out of the country, so I had to reschedule. And it made me sad. I am excited for this and hope the horror stories that I have been reading about rescheduling aren't true (people have said you will get pushed down the line and it can take forever to get a new date).

when were you notified the date of your ceremony? I just hope it happens before July 3rd because I will be out of town.

My interview was on the 30th, the pdf notification came online on the 3rd, per mail later. My cancellation showed online on the 7th. You should hear something soon :) And good luck that it doesn't fall on your day out of town!

Does anyone know what the avg waiting time for the ceremony after passing the interview ? .

    thanks .

About three weeks. I had to reschedule though 😕 It would be interesting to see oath dates in here so we could possibly see a pattern of how often they are done. I hope I get a new date soon.

    And congratulations, RodDetroit!

  12. I got my oath date, and just as I feared, I have to ask them to reschedule because I won't be in the country and can't change my flights. I asked the IO at the interview if this would be possible and it sounded like it would not be a problem at all. Now I am reading all kinds of opinions of people saying that it can be a problem to get another oath date. I am crossing my fingers that this is not the case and that I will get a new date soon.

    Congratulations, Given2Fly!!!

I had interview in Detroit today too and I got approved. I had to wait for 1 hour to be called by IO. I was so nervous that I missed them calling my number/name that I went to asked if everything is fine. I was told that they had to bring my paperwork from back so it took longer but everything was fine.

IO was really nice, we talked about my work and baby before we got to test.

    My questions:

What is the capital of the U.S.?

Name one state that borders Mexico.

What is one thing Benjamin Franklin famous for?

What's the name of the national anthem?

What major event happened on September 11,2001, in the United States?

We elect a U.S. Representative for how many years?

Sentence for reading was something like: "who elects Congress?"  and writing: "The people elect Congress."

I was told that my Oath ceremony should be done by end of June. but who knows. System already shows me: Oath Ceremony will be scheduled.

Little bit more waiting and I'm done. 🙂 so happy

Wonderful, congratulations to you too! Seems like the Detroit IOs were in a good mood yesterday :)

I had my interview last Tuesday and I got a decision cannot be made yet. The IO was very professional she read every questions from my applications. I had to change some things ( address, my husband employment info, etc.) I had bunch of papers with me, but she didn't want to see anything. She   asked me if I had any questions for her so my husband (he was with me during both interviews I751 and N400) told her that she didn't ask him anything. So she asked him :How do you like your new wife? 😠 My husband was married before, but he got divorced 10 years before we even met, we have been married since 2014 and dating 2 years before. She said she will decide by the end of the week. I finally got email today that I'm placed in line for oath ceremony :D.

I'm glad you had better experience.

Wow, how rude! But congratulations on your approval! My IO was super nice.

I have my interview next Thursday,  I wonder if we may put us in the same ceremony,  btw..  I have been told Germany does not allow dual citizenship unless  you got it from your parents.  Spain doesn't care if you have another one .

Dual citizenship is possible with Germany. You have to apply to keep the German one before you become an American citizen though, otherwise you lose your German citizenship. I did it all in time, so I am going to be dual. Good luck to you as well!

Congrats!.  When are you going to know  the day of  the ceremony? .

Thank you :) They said there will probably be a letter in about a week. They also said that since I live in the area, it will not take too long since they have ceremonies every two weeks, if I remember correctly.

  17. Hi guys, I just had my interview in Detroit, and I got approved :D It was super fast, took only about 10 minutes. The IO went through the questions from the application, and then did the test. My questions were:

    Name two cabinet positions.
What did Martin Luther King Jr. fight for?
The idea of self government is in the first three words of the Constitution. What are these words?
What ocean borders the US on the East coast?
Name one branch of our government.
What is the supreme law of the land?

I had to read "How many Senators are there?" and write "There are 100 Senators."

It is crazy to think that my immigration journey is almost done now. This forum has been an amazing source of tips and encouragement. Good luck to my fellow February filers who are still waiting!
