None of those you are concerned with matter with CBP unless you will be selling them or list as commercial items. You will have to declare how much cash and jewelry you are bringing.
Here is the sample of form of Customs Declaration.

Yep totally agree. Already came here a couple of times and never had an issue. Always just estimated the worth roughly. If you think about the worth of used stuff you usually never exceed 500 dollars. Plus CBP doesn't care for your headphones or used pants. It's about stuff that you bring into US sell it and leave the country.

It depends. Nvc has waiting lists for appointments for different embassies. Look here on the timeline search for similar cases like yours.
-
Well when it's at the consulate I guess. I heard usually they give appointments out ladt week of the month but basically nobody knows if I understood it right.
-
Yep the Officer can see everything online. Atleast thats what they told me and what's also printed on my visa. Will try it tomorrow but i am sure it works ;-). Strange that nobody told you that during the interview. Maybe you overheard it over excitement and nervousness :-).

Am a bit shocked of the arrogance of some people here. Indeed the stress caused by the immigration process is incredible. Not everyone can handle that and not every relationship/marriage survives. Just to say smth like they didn't love each other enough shows lack of empathy and humility. I agree to comments before that you only know what you are facing once you are in it. There is nothing that can prepare you for the emotions you are going through. The pain, anxiety, loneliness can be more than overwhelming especially paired with the uncertain timeframe of immigration. I am glad I am from an Esta country and was atleast able to visit a couple of times. No idea how relationships survive for a year without seeing each others in person. I am sure the number of relationships together with raise of depressions regards the immigration process isn't small. Unfortunately there is no statistic for that.

I and many others did it on our own. The process itself isnt complicated. Its just a long waiting time and you need to make sure to collect enough supporting evidence. Read the Immigration guides on this websites and inform yourself well. If there are any questions open just shoot a post and many people will help you here

It strongly depends on your consulate and how long the waiting list of NVC is. I recommend using the timeline search to get an idea. But after all nobody can tell you exactly. Stay patient and sane.

It totally depends on your case how long they will need. Usually just a couple of days but nobody can tell. The easier the case the faster obviously. Calling them does not speed up anything. They just might get annoyed if you do it too often 😂. Expedite is a different thing and only possible for a reason. I recommend using the timeline search to find people from your country with same visa to get an idea. The interview will be scheduled by nvc and not you usually. That's why your case will be stuck at ready for a while after too. Check timeline search and reports from people of your country for details etc. Stay calm

I read you don't need wet ink anymore. Additionally they didn't want to see a copy during my cr1 interview anyhow. Don't think it will be an issue. Calm down and stay sane.
One example here:
-
Yep if you have no intent it's legal but seriously... take me as an example I married on a J1. But i left the country afterwards and applied for CR1. You might ask why? For exactly the reason I got my J1. I had ties I had to organize/cut loose before. So basically you only get a J1 if you have good reason to return to your country. Your question already shows you don't have such. Bad chances for J1

It's not a bad thing to bring it. For me here in germany - they didn't want it plus you were not allowed to bring it inside the consulate. Security took it and kept it until my return. No harm in bringing it but i think the form from the doc states already that xray is fine. Guess that's why nobody needed it anymore.
-
Well nobody can tell you what they will do or decide but honestly traveling when the interview will be scheduled soon what stupid idea us that? They even write you that you should not travel. Good luck but it sounds like you have wrong priorities
-
Just call them and ask? Nobody knows but them...
-
Yep the time you have been together doesn't matter at all. You need proof of a legit relationship and you have them I guess. Just schedule the interview. Just had mine for CR1 last Monday and it's really less difficult than people think. Of course it's stressful but since they approved all your docs already - just go on and schedule. Good luck
-
Yep Lin= Lincoln Nebraska
-
Well in any case - never lie to the immigration. Just tell your story and get as many proofs for home ties as you can.
Oh and concerning j1 are you affected by the 2 years entry rule? It should be printed on your j1 if that's the case

You have to be over the poverty limit (check online) to be approved. They want to make sure you can take care of the future immigrant. If your W2s do not show that you will need a Co sponsor. Please Google a bit and inform yourself
-
You mean the steps in ceac? Please provide more information. Is it k1 or cr1, country etc. Waiting times can strongly vary. You can check with the timeline search to get an idea

Actually what I should have said in the subject is that the name and address isn't missing but it is incomplete i.e. doesn't have all the letters of the name or address. On the instructions of the form 4056 to get it mailed, it states that IRS have modified transcripts so that only partial personal information is shown to protect privacy. So I wonder if this includes the name and address and whether getting it mailed won't make any difference? I don't want to have to wait for the mail if I could just send the packet in sooner.
Echelon,
Was this for you removing conditions? Did you get yours online as well and was your name and address missing completely or like mine where not all the letters are showing? What do you mean by the W2's are more important? Is that not included with the transcript?
So mine was for an IR1 Visa - just had my interview yesterday. They wanted to see the W2s again but not the transcripts. The W2s exactly state how much your spouse earned the transcripts micht be more complicated for them to read especially if your filed jointly. Thats maybe a reason. No the W2s are not included and they asked for them also at NVC stage (not matter what else you hand in). So i recommend to add atleast the W2 of the last year to avoid delays. Might differ from process to process and case worker to case worker but thats my experience :D. Good luck
-
They accepted mine without names as well. The W2s are more important to them it seems.
-
Congratulations, have mine on Monday as well. Good luck to you

Yes it can take a long time depending on our consulate/embassy. NVC has waiting lists. Ready means you are on a list and your interview will be scheduled - not when. Check other timelines with the search function to get an idea. As I read the interviews of the next month are usually scheduled in the last week of the month or in the beginning of the month itself. So in short. Be patient, stay sane. You are almost there

Yes do the DCF if you lived there more than 6 month already. The process is much faster 🙂
