None of those you are concerned with matter with CBP unless you will be selling them or list as commercial items. You will have to declare how much cash and jewelry you are bringing.

Here is the sample of form of Customs Declaration.

Yep totally agree. Already came here a couple of times and never had an issue. Always just estimated the worth roughly. If you think about the worth of used stuff you usually never exceed 500 dollars. Plus CBP doesn't care for your headphones or used pants. It's about stuff that you bring into US sell it and leave the country.

  2. I and many others did it on our own. The process itself isnt complicated. Its just a long waiting time and you need to make sure to collect enough supporting evidence. Read the Immigration guides on this websites and inform yourself well. If there are any questions open just shoot a post and many people will help you here :)

  3. It totally depends on your case how long they will need. Usually just a couple of days but nobody can tell. The easier the case the faster obviously. Calling them does not speed up anything. They just might get annoyed if you do it too often 😂. Expedite is a different thing and only possible for a reason. I recommend using the timeline search to find people from your country with same visa to get an idea. The interview will be scheduled by nvc and not you usually. That's why your case will be stuck at ready for a while after too. Check timeline search and reports from people of your country for details etc. Stay calm

  4. Yep if you have no intent it's legal but seriously... take me as an example I married on a J1. But i left the country afterwards and applied for CR1. You might ask why? For exactly the reason I got my J1. I had ties I had to organize/cut loose before. So basically you only get a J1 if you have good reason to return to your country. Your question already shows you don't have such. Bad chances for J1

Actually what I should have said in the subject is that the name and address isn't missing but it is incomplete i.e. doesn't have all the letters of the name or address. On the instructions of the form 4056 to get it mailed, it states that IRS have modified transcripts so that only partial personal information is shown to protect privacy. So I wonder if this includes the name and address and whether getting it mailed won't make any difference? I don't want to have to wait for the mail if I could just send the packet in sooner.

    Echelon,

Was this for you removing conditions? Did you get yours online as well and was your name and address missing completely or like mine where not all the letters are showing? What do you mean by the W2's are more important? Is that not included with the transcript?

So mine was for an IR1 Visa - just had my interview yesterday. They wanted to see the W2s again but not the transcripts. The W2s exactly state how much your spouse earned the transcripts micht be more complicated for them to read especially if your filed jointly. Thats maybe a reason. No the W2s are not included and they asked for them also at NVC stage (not matter what else you hand in). So i recommend to add atleast the W2 of the last year to avoid delays. Might differ from process to process and case worker to case worker but thats my experience :D. Good luck

  6. Yes it can take a long time depending on our consulate/embassy. NVC has waiting lists. Ready means you are on a list and your interview will be scheduled - not when. Check other timelines with the search function to get an idea. As I read the interviews of the next month are usually scheduled in the last week of the month or in the beginning of the month itself. So in short. Be patient, stay sane. You are almost there
