Has anyone else had an online application and had their interview yet? My husband's didn't go too well and I'm not sure if it's a system error or an interviewer error. He brought my last tax return with him ( a document that was uploaded in AUGUST) and was told that I need to upload the document to the website again. Apparently he was told that it would only set us back a couple of days, but after 4 days we've heard nothing and received nothing. It's so frustrating. Anyone else had problems with online applications at their interview? Urghhhhh we just want this to be overrrrrrr 😞

OK so update time!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Husband Dear heard from the Courier today and can pick up his passport on Wednesday. His interview was last Tuesday the 23rd, and he just got the email today. We're pretty sure the interview went fine but there hasn't been any indication either way.  Would we know by now if it was denied? Would they mail his passport back without the visa in it, or would they have sent it home with him after his interview if it was denied? I'm dying, I'm so nervous.

Its hard for others to have a similar experience considering you were one of the first.

As with any new system it could be a software bug or user unfamiliarity.

I wonder if there will be any point where anyone asks for feedback on how it went. It seems a little ridiculous to me that I (the American wifey - husband posed the question at first but I check back more often 😁) need to take extra steps because of the interviewer's error, and there seems to be no recourse for us when we've worked so hard to get ready for the interview. I just want someone important to know that there were so many "bugs" in the new process.

Thank you I appreciate the words of support! Here’s to all the spouses living away from their better halves.

Seriously. It's such a struggle particularly because it's so lonely. My husband is my best friend and it sucks not having him around to do Life Things with. I'd love to see some serious reform in the process for those of us who take the time to fill out the forms and submit the evidence and the tax returns and everything. This process is a shitshow from start to finish. Which step are you guys on?

It's so hard living apart.. we are still waiting for the approval. Its breaking my heart. I just don't understand what could be taking so long. 😪😪

And it's so emotionally draining waiting around, too. Just wading through the bureaucracy. I called the NVC a million times, and I called our District Attorney and our congressmen and no one could do anything. And everyone always asking "how's he doing" or "how's it going" and you really wanna say "it's horrendous and nothing about it is ok" but instead you just kinda shrug and go "it is what it is, we're almost there".

We're right there with you, friend! Love to you and yours - hopefully you'll be together soon! Feel free to send us a PM if you need to vent or talk - I know it's hard to find people who Get It.

My application has gone to California. We applied in October 2017 and have no response since then. Feeling so depressed living away from my husband this way.

There are no words to describe how much it sucks to live without your spouse. Sorry you're having to go through that  :(  Know that there are other husband-less wives out there feeling the way you are! Hope your case is processed and you guys are back together soon!

  7. Hey guys,

Recently attended my interview in London to obtain my visa to join my wife over in the states. I was told in the initial document check phase of the interview that I was one of the first online upload to NVC cases that the embassy worker had dealt with. After a quick check of the documents i had with me, i was told to join a few others in waiting for the next step (Further questions regarding the relationship, the interview everyone expects).
A short while later I approached the next desk and conducted my interview. Everything seemed to be going "okay" when I was informed that my wife had failed to upload her latest tax return.

I didn't want to argue or seem confrontational, however I was sure she had, as every piece of financial data relating to tax returns and AOS's had been uploaded onto the NVC site (It had even been checked 2-3 times since we had submitted the wrong AOS the 1st time with a sponsor and they required more information on the 2nd).
I thought that this dispute could be avoided as I had brought with me a physical copy of the tax return that was being requested (This also re-assured me that it had been uploaded). Unfortunately I was told that i would have to upload a copy onto the website and then send the embassy an email to confirm this, then my case would be processed.

After contacting my wife, returning home and checking both the NVC upload and the relevant files that we had, I was indeed correct that the tax return had been uploaded. I uploaded another copy and sent them an email the exact same day to confirm that I had then uploaded the requested tax return.

    I guess I have a few questions.

    1. Has anyone else had problems with this?
    2. Is there any reason that embassy worker wouldn't have been able to access the document?

    3. Although I was told it would only take an extra day or two, I've found this information to be somewhat unreliable in the past so has anyone got any information to help regarding an expected timeline?

    Thanks ahead of time.
t's extremely frustrating to almost be at the end of the process and have it be set back even more due to something out of your control.

So everything I saw when I submitted scans of these things said that we need to bring originals of everything. I see here that you used a copy of the passports. Was that enough? I used my mom as a joint sponsor and used her passport to prove residency and her drivers' license to prove domicile. Do I need to mail my husband those documents, or can he bring in scans of those things? I'm so confused and there's so much conflicting information about it.

Just called NVC today.  They recieved my case today.  Yay but the rep told me to wait 8 weeks.

    PD Oct 25

    Sent to DoS May 2

I was told the same thing when I called on Sunday the 1st. It seems ridiculous that it could take them up to 8 weeks JUST TO PUT A FRICKING NUMBER ON OUR CASE. But the reps who take phone calls are actually really sympathetic and easy to deal with. I hope 8 weeks is just like nightmare scenario......

Hey everyone.  How is everyone's wait time going?

    Filed I130: 1/17/2017

    NOA1: 1/26/2017

I know we haven't waited long but this is killing me. Anyone having any good luck with TSC?

My husband said last week that TSC was processing August 2017 (according to another board that he follows) - we filed in October. Almost there!

    The wait time suuuuucks.

    Anyone visiting their spouse soon?

Yes. However, I was reading that even if it is not you have to prove that it is not. And I am wondering how I can prove it is not if it does not even say that it is not! Wow, say that 10 times fast!

That's ridiculous. You can't prove a negative - wouldn't the burden of proof be on DHS to prove that it IS a marriage broker? Isn't that how common law works?

  13. That's super weird. Also, I'm looking right now, and the I130 rows say as of November 30th they've done up to March 2nd. I would look at some timelines on this site to see who's gotten a NOA2. I think that gives a more accurate idea of the rate at which they're processing cases.

Edit: I'm an idiot. Ours is at TSC not YSC.  But I stand by the rest of my comment

London does not typically ask to see evidence that you are in love at their visa interviews. Whatever you put in the petition packet is probably sufficient. The marriage certificate is your main proof. If you happened to get bank accounts together or signed a lease together since the petition, then that's good. But it would  be difficult to do that when you live in separate countries and they know that. They are not going to be interested in your chats, emails, cyber sex, etc at a London interview. Attending the interview together does not make a bit of difference to them, but it's fun to be together to celebrate VD (visa day hahaha). Real easy.

thank you so much for this answer! I definitely want to go - I even have a dress and am working my bum off at spin class to look nice in it haha.  But it's good to know that this process won't be invasive for us :)

  15. Hi everyone!

my husband Tyrone and I are so glad we've found this little community!

We're currently awaiting our NOA2, and it feels like it's taking FOREVER. So, I've decided to occupy myself by updating and organizing The Binder - our catch-all, go-to place for all things UK-to-US related. This binder will be coming with me to England to go to Ty's interview with us, and I plan on REALLY scrapbooking it someday for our kids to see - I'm really excited about that part, so I *might* start that now :D

One thing we've found ourselves talking about is the secondary evidence of a bona-fide marriage - all the objects and documents that show our relationship. Specifically, we're really thinking about what exactly to share with USCIS as evidence, and what is just too personal. He's not comfortable sharing *certain* letters I've written him, and there are LOTS of email correspondences that we're really not willing to show to a USCIS official (if you know what I mean....... *fans self*)

So I guess my question is, what do you guys plan to share with USCIS when the time comes, and what do you plan to keep to yourself? And for anyone who's already gone through the process, was there anything you provided as evidence that was just TOO MUCH? Also, how much evidence do you think is enough?

Hoping this makes for a fun thread :dancing:
