Gamboli reacted to Michael2017 in PD 2016 Filers (F2A)
It is the end of the fiscal year. It is expected to be slower. It would be very unusual if the September VB would move 4 weeks. For August, it looks like that it moves till 22 July as of now.
October VB is expected to be 4 weeks + as the new fiscal year starts.

I can't verify the accuracy of this information, but it seems that the latest IL so far was for July 20th 2016, it looks like that bulletin might move at least 4 weeks as of now. I personally hope for 5 week movement, especially after there was only total of 3 weeks movements in the past 2 months.

It might already be too late. I believe once they receive that, they might return the original documents. Moreover what you did is going to raise a few eyebrows.
Try to call the USCIS as soon as you can and talk to a representative before your request is processed.

It should show up, but again, often it does not. Their system is not very reliable. But if you call and they don`t see a RFE in their system, then all is good.
Everyone that is waiting for I-130 approval and PD is October-November-December 2016 should better call one monthly to verify there is no pending RFE.

You must have signed up for electronic messaging, there is a separate form to be filed and not everyone does it. In addition, USCIS lot of times misses this form and does only send letters. So to be safe it is best to update USCIS about any address change. This can be done as well over the phone.

Gamboli is right. All that matters is the Visa Bulletin. If there is stronger movement at the Visa Bulletin, also the processing times will pick up at USCIS. The only real problem with those long I-130 approval times is, that if your case is rejected or if you missed to reply to a RFE you lose a lot of time before you can apply again. This means, everyone should make sure USCIS has the latest address on file and if someone moves, he should make sure that letters are forwarded. There is nothing worse than waiting 1.5 years and then to miss a RFE letter and your case gets rejected because you don`t reply...
As for current VB, 2 weeks are confirmed. Let`s hope we can move on Monday to 3-4 weeks.

Last one I saw: PD December 19th, 2016 on May 11th, 2018. I saw a couple here and there for later than that but not a lot. They are still working on December 2016 filers.

Gamboli got a reaction from Beast333 in US to require would-be immigrants to turn over social media handles
I was asked for my social media handle and my phone was checked by the DHS agent when I made the trip back to the U.S in 2016. (I even had/have Global Entry).
Now they're just making it official for everyone. I personally don't have any problem with it. You already have to assume that the Big Brother is watching you. So don't do anything stupid or illegal.

Gamboli got a reaction from ceeq in Frustrating Job Hunt with EAD in SF
It depends on the City/State that you're in, demand for that specific industry as well as how good you really are. My first employer didn't really care about my degree, but the second one really did, but then again third one didn't... I've worked for some of the world's largest companies, and I never had trouble finding a job, as a matter of fact I landed my first job months before I graduated from a University in Malaysia.
One thing that many people need to understand is that, they need to be realistic about where they start, for example I would have liked to start in Seattle, but Houston was a much better choice because there are a lot of jobs there, the cost of living is lower, etc. I'm no longer living in Houston (can't stand the weather), but that was my stepping stone.
One final thing, once you land a job with an American-based employer in the U.S. you're gonna have much, much more easier time getting other opportunities. I keep getting new opportunities from recruiters almost every week, but I ignore them all because I'm happy where I am.
This approach worked well for me, but it may not work for everyone, therefore plan where you're going and make sure you can survive for at least a few months in case you couldn't find a job immediately, and please don't go work as a waiter or other unrelated jobs, job hunting is a full-time job on its own.

@Triple28 & @Michael2017 It is not reliable, 2 months ago he/she claimed his/her PD was March 23, and that received interview letter. 2 months ago the Final Action Date was not close to March 23rd, I think is someone with nothing better to do.

Gamboli reacted to Tenreyro in PD 2016 Filers (F2A)
I have a different theory, that maybe they are changing the way they schedule interviews, and first will decide internally, before scheduling interviews. In theory, it says that the PD date is basically decided on the 8th. But interviews could be scheduled even 12 days before. Maybe now interview would only be scheduled after they have decided the date, or even after the VB is published.
That's a theory and a big maybe.

Gamboli reacted to Michael2017 in PD 2016 Filers (F2A)
Wow, so till now no one after May 1, 2016 PD got an Invitation Letter. This is not normal, because usually around the first of each months the interviews are scheduled. Normally this would mean that the Visa Bulletin does not move at all, but, as far as I know, also other preference groups had no movement yet. It is impossible that they run out of visas for all categories so early in the year. Thus, not sure what this means. If anyone after May 1 get IL, please post here asap.
