You asked for thoughts and risks.  You have been given them.  You don't like some of the answers because you are set on your path.  Good luck.  Don't ask for help when you really don't want it.  You only want people to tell you that your plan is a good one and it can work.  You think it just requires working out a few kinks.

I've responded to you because you sent a helpful comment and I responded "Right, so establish ties to the US, and in what ways can they do that without having to move here immediately? I think there is a section in the I131 where you can outline reasons why you need the document. "

The latter portion of my post wasn't directed at you, but at Boiler and Sparky11564.

What about slowing down the NVC process once the petitions are granted and reach the NVC. Drip feed the paying of fees, completion of DS260 and the submission of documents over a 2 year period .. slowing for the other needed I130 petition to catch up. ?

Something to consider as well ,thanks.

My game plan has been to sponsor both parents, and each parents file an I-130 for my brother. I have not filed for my brother, but wondering if I should as insurance? But that's for a different topic.

Have you thought of doing staggered petitions for your parents? You said you have a brother with special needs - will he pass the medical/public charge scrutiny?

Yep, this is something I'm working towards long term - I am worried about the public charge issue down the line, because it seems USCIS is denying applications even if you meet the income thresholds. Currently, he is mentally stunted to age 12, and you won't be able to tell by looking or talking to him initially. He will just come across as awkward. One of the things my parents will be doing is making sure he will be able to hold a part time job, and live comfortably with extended family, and prepare him for when the time comes for the interview.

As for staggering no, but dependent on the situation a couple years from now, one of them may give up their green card and start over if needs be.

The main problem would be maintaining ties to the US.  A Re-Entry Permit doesn't allow the time outside the US to be counted against an LPR as long as the person is maintaining ties to the US.  Your parents after 4 days would not have any ties to the US.

You will have to rethink your plan.  You know it doesn't pass the smell test.

Right, so establish ties to the US, and in what ways can they do that without having to move here immediately? I think there is a section in the I131 where you can outline reasons why you need the document.

And just for clarification for anyone else:

    1. I'm not asking if I should apply for my parents green card or not so post #2 from Boiler is useless

    2. I never indicated that my parents don't want to settle here permanently, they do and will, but can't in the short term for the reason I laid out

    3. They have to have a green card sooner than later for the reason I laid out

I don't need to get into my detail about my family's personal situation, but would like advice on my plan in post 1.

The purpose of the exercise is to become a US Citizen. If they don’t or won’t live here why bother? Border agents have the right to refuse ANYONE, even US citizen tye right to entry. If they play this shell game, snd I was a border patrol agent, it would definitely raise a red flag for me. Why don’t you just wait until they are capable of living here? Maybe im missing something but you sound shady to me already

Feel free to read the above posts by me for more information on why.

This site has been a great source of information, but I also noticed people like you who aren't really helpful and don't answer the question at hand. 💁‍♂️

  6. Ideally yea, and that would save money as far as I131's go but the reason they need to do this is because I have a sibling with special needs who also needs an I130 petioned, and me doing it will take twice as long. But I didn't write this to get advice on something I didn't ask about from people who don't understand the personal reasons why I'm going about things this way.

  7. Planning a bit ahead here seeing as my parent's haven't been approved for their I-130 yet.

For a couple of reasons, my parents are not able to live in the US quite yet, at least not for the next 2-3 years. But we would like to apply for and keep their green cards valid, so here is my plan:

    1. Day 1 - Parents complete consular processing and receive their visa packet and enter the US
    2. Day 1 -  I use their I-551 stamp and mail out an application for their I-131 Reentry permits for next day delivery. Since they need to be within the US during the time of the application
    3. Day 2 – USCIS receives their I-131
    4. Day 4 – Parents leave the US

Whenever I get the biometrics appointment letter, my parents will come back in for fingerprinting and leave again.

Does this makes sense? In particular between Day 2 and 4, worried that they might get officially processed Day 5 but they have already left the country. Any risks involved? Thoughts?

I am scheduled  for an interview on Aug 14th for Citizenship & hopefully its a combo for my pending I-751....

    On an average in Chicago:

    1. how long does it take for approval after interview?

    2. How long from approval to Oath?

    1. You can be approved on the spot, or take 4 days like it did for me, or it can take months

    2. 3-4 Weeks after approval.

When I do a search by zip code, it gives me the center I went to for the I-751, near O’hare.

I had to go to Burbank, it's not bad, orange line and a PACE bus will get you there.

If you want I think you can go to the one near O'hare too, just give a good reason. I actually made mine up (for going in earlier) and said I was travelling on their ask date.

We just brought whatever the interview letter stated to bring (interview letter, My original Naturalization certificate, original marriage certificate, our son birth certificate, her passport, a print out of the application plus 2018 tax transcript).  The items you listed should be fine.

Yeah, only brought what was listed, and latest tax returns.

He took my tax returns but ignored the marriage licence, passport etc.

    Hi everyone!

I filed online for N-400 a few days ago.

For those of you who have a scheduled interview, when did you apply? The USCIS website is giving me an expected case completion time in June 2020 (11 months), just wondering if this looks pretty accurate. It took me 19 months to get my 10-year green card (no RFE or anything).

Also, for those who have had their Oath ceremony, how long did you have to wait for a date after the interview?

    Thanks!

All in all, from application to ceremony is about 8 months

Bio metrics 1 month after submission.

Interview 7 months after. Oath a month after interview

My wife applied in Oct 20, 2018. Is anybody still waiting for the interview? It should be soon?

anyway to get this expedited? Her mom has cancer and she wants to bring her to the us for better treatment. Thank you in advance for any reply!

Unfortunately not. You will have to wait.

In the meantime her mum can apply for a B1 Visa to visit for treatment? Of course she can only stay 6 months max in a year.
