  • Our Story
When I was 18 I went to India (had been brought up on a diet of Eastern Philosophy). Loved it soo much that I ended up staying for 21 years! Mostly doing volunteer work for non-profit organizations.

In 1994 I moved to the village where my future fiancé was going to school. Just knew him in passing for years, he's really shy, and so am I! Slowly, slowly we started to talk, became friends, then started to think of each other all the time! Uh-oh! Well it was like a big scandal even when we just innocently met often to talk. Friendship lasted for years before we started to seriously realize that we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together!

Finally I came to USA, after a gap of 18 years, for a 2-week visit. Due to the illness of my father, I stayed on. The I found out I couldn't get a long-term visa to India again (long-term only to Indian nationals). Then suddenly my fiancé and I realized he could come here and we wouldn't have to sneak around in India, in a taboo interracial relationship! So here we are on the K1 journey...

Well... I forgot to tell you my fiance had his naturalization ceremony aaaand he just sent our K-1 petition last week, on September 7. It feels so exciting. Maybe we'll get our NOA2 by the time your husband will have his oath ceremony. That'd be fun. :P
