Am i only one still who did not get the interview? Its almost 3 years…..

We filed May 2020.  We have the combo card and even a renewed EAD.  But nothing about an interview.  Montgomery Alabama processing time is 29 months.  We are at 33, but the case inquiry time is not until November 2023 which makes less sense than anything else in this process.

    Hi May Filers,

My case will be out of time according to the timeline given by USCIS. What do you guys recommend for me to do? I'll do service request, but do you think they respond to service request?

There is a process for inquiry for cases beyond the published date, we are not there yet, so I have not looked into the details of how to do it.  That date is still in January 2020 for us.  It will be another 4 months before we can file an inquiry.

Is there anybody here that saw some movement lately?
After my case changed to interview is ready to be scheduled à month and a half ago, we are still waiting.

i just talked to a tier 1 and when I asked him about the location of my file he told me that he’s only seeing that it was at the nbc back in May.

    i hope it was transferred..

We are still waiting.  But it appears that there is now movement for remaining May 2020 cases.

    Hi Mariana,

this is probably the case if your status read “ready to be scheduled for an interview” but if you’re like me and it says “fingerprints were taken” then you’re having a different problem.

our files have been stored in a vault called the FRC or the NRC and they have barely started reopening them like last week.

so our A files haven’t been transferred to the local field offices yet. An absolute joke.

A lot of people filing for their citizenship are in this case. You can read more under the case report for N400.

the problem is that they’re only treating certain people but not everyone now that they’re reopening based on a priority basis. As if this shouldn’t have been done month ago.

Well this FRC thing is a new one on me.  How did you find out about it?

We have almost the same timeline.  Our field office is Montgomery Alabama.  Still waiting since May 2020.

Update: my interview date is set for my son and I on July 27th. I live in Atlanta but my interview is in Montgomery, AL. Has this happened to anyone before? I would think there is a USCIS office in Altanta 🤷‍♀️. Nonetheless we are extremely happy that we finally got a date as I had just sent in my EAD renewal earlier this month.

We are in Alabama, I know Montgomery handles a lot of Georgia cases because of the backlog in Atlanta.  We filed May 8 2020, we have her EAD, but have heard nothing about the interview.

That's too bad. An officer called us about a week before the interview and told us that we needed another exam. In our case it was because ours was too old. At least they called us so we had a chance to get it. We actually had an appointment for the exam the same day he called. We almost decided not to do it before that, but since we got the call we knew we had to do it and spend the money.

How old was your medical?  Thanks

@KrisaT___ @CystashGlad to hear of your successful interviews, I’m thinking I’ll hear of a interview date soon but dreading them going over the I-944 as my wife was working up until covid hit and has been unemployed since, the info on the forms was up to date and relevant but not really applicable now, I’m sure others may have the same issue too?? Do any of you guys have your EAD AND SSN?? I have my EAD but still waiting patiently for my SSN!! 🤞😊

My wife has her EAD, and she is a May 2020 AOS filer.  I can't believe I am saying this about a government worker but the guy at the SS office was super helpful and pushed through her SS application and she now has the SS card.

  9. I filed the I-485 (I-130 already approved) with my wife's maiden name.  I thought it would be better to have her green card match her Chinese passport since she will (hopefully) be travelling to China yearly.  Now I have changed my mind and want the green card to be her married name.  We applied for SS number in her married name and the guy said he would send it in as we wish  but it will take more processing since her EAD is in her maiden name.  He made a certified copy of the marriage certificate.  He said we need to notify USCIS that we want the green card to be in her married name now.  I was going to do that at the interview, but would it be better to send a letter now asking for the name to be her married name?  How would I do this, send a letter to Lee's Summit?  Thanks

I had an RFE where I, the USC, only had to send in proof of citizenship. I could have sworn I did with the original package but, it is what it is.

The good news for you is that it's an RFE and not a rejection :)

Still waiting for biometrics notification since May 27th :(

Still waiting on biometrics notification since May 13.  I assume it is taking longer now since the service centers only recently opened up.

    Hey everyone,

Newbie here, however I have been going through this process by myself.

I found a great resource online that anyone filing an AOS with form i-944 should look at:

It's a reference document for immigration lawyers, but it does clear up a lot of questions that I had and you probably have regarding form i-944.

    Cheers!

Thank you for the reply.  We are in kind of a difficult spot right now.  Originally we had planned to go back to Turkey and do a marriage ceremony with her family. Then we get quarantined in. We're staying with my parents right now.  When things started picking up with COVID in early March, we were hoping that we could ride it out and be good to go within the six month period of her visa.  Now it seems like that's not the case.  You're right, wish we could have seen the writing on the wall but hindsight is 2020, and we didn't think this would escalate to the level it has.  Most places in China have reopened after about two months.

We still have two months left before the 6 months expires - less time than ideal, but it's enough to figure out a plan.  We're now considering just starting the greencard application directly working with someone like Catholic Charities.  The only reason we'd held off on this was to visit her family in Turkey again before we'd started.  If we start the process that's at least another however many months/ year+ before we could see them.  That's what makes it tricky.  Trying to figure out the best way to handle everything.

My wife is in the same situation.  Extend the tourist visa by filing I-539.  There is not enough time to get the actual extension before the 6 months expires but she is legal as long as the extension is pending.  There are discussions here on it.  Costs over 500 bucks.
