When becoming US citizen, you will do at least two things:1)passport,2)update with Social security office
do you also need to notify your bank/ credit card companies with your new citizenship status? The same as employer?
thanks for input

Thank you for sharing interview experience

Hi @mspUSCISisSLOW
I can see in the sheet you had the interview on 12/03?, would you like to share your experience? it would be helpful. thank you!!
surprisingly, not many people did take time to share their experience after interview since Aug/September.

After a long week of no response after my interview, finally received a message that my case was updated and now I am in line for oath ceremony scheduling.
Hopefully I can finish up this long process in 2018.
big congrats!

thanks for everyone, we can for sure afford $1170 for my minor child(single) to have his own certificate..it has no expiration date and my child can use his own certificate for his own life after he grows up.
for the N600,part8, i will sign my child's full name(YYY) and followed by "( by father: XXX)" and part 10 ,preparer : this will be my information who prepared this form and signed my full name.

for the minor child, the U.S. passport is issued by the department of state, but this child is not registered as "U.S. citizen" at USCIS,meaning the child has no record as US citizen at USCIS. it’s possible that if an agency checks with USCIS, they could be told that there is no record that you are a U.S. citizen.

according to the USCIS sites,
...However, you may be required to submit your Certificate of Citizenship when attempting to apply for certain other benefits, including, but not limited to:
- Social Security benefits
- State issued ID including a Driver’s License or Learning Permit
- Financial Aid
- Employment
- Passport Renewal

i am naturalized US citizen and my minor child(<10 years old) automatically became US citizen after my oath and received his own US passport. Now i am preparing for his N600 form.
form N600, part 8. who should be the applicant ? me or the child ? whose Signature do they ask?

Hey, collective mind, many people here mention statuses "inline for interview" or "scheduling for interview".
My USCIS account still says "We reviewed your biometrics" (for almost 8 months to date). Should there be status update between biometrics and interview?

If there is a need in your case, you can choose to sue the uscis

There are couple factors known to affect the processing time of individual case. Background check is one of them. As this phase is not transparent and nobody can influence or urge FBI to expedite your case.
In my case, FBI cleared my check in April/May and Minneapolis field office hold me in line until this August for interview scheduled.

Got my Certificate yesterday! Finally.
Good luck to the rest of you

According to the TV news, there were over 900 new citizens taking oath at St. Paul on 9/11 last month.

Not sure if its a coincidence but Nov 6 is election day. Maybe they have to give time-off to staff who want to vote.
I can understand your frustration though.
Don’t worry. Your new interview schedule will be soon after 11/6

Does anyone know if there is a passport agency closest to the St. Paul courthouse building? I saw folks from other oath ceremonies submitted passport application right away next door

That depends on how busy your local uscis office is for oath ceremonies. In my case my n400 interview was on May 2nd and my ceremony was on the 18th the same month. Keep checking your status online to see any update anything to make sure you don't miss the letter in the mail. Hope you get news soon.
based on my research, all oath events in our state are hosted at state courthouse and scheduled according to their availability.. the applicants who requested name change through oath in front of the judge. they often wait for longer time.
However, for those regular applicants who don't need name change ,there is no need to have oath at the courthouse with the Judge presence. that's why lots of regular applicants in many field offices can have oath on the same day of interview approval or soon in the same month. but this is not the case in Minnesota.

Location: Minneapolis field office, Minnesota
does anyone know how soon the interview notice will be scheduled after passing the interview ? my interview was 2 weeks ago and in line for the oath. Can't wait to vote this year. thanks
Will you contact Bank/ credit card company after becoming US citizens?
in Passports, etc. - What to do now that you are a US citizen
