Sharing our experience of the AOS interview today. Our interview was scheduled at 11am and we got called into the interview room at around 11.30am, which is not too bad as we were prepared to wait. The interviewing officer was quite friendly and seemed pleased with our answers. She first spent time verifying my answers on the form I-485, then asked questions about our relationship while taking notes of our answers. She didn't make it overly formal, but encouraged us to both share. When it came to supporting evidence for our marriage, she asked for the lease, utility bills, insurance evidence, then asked if we had anything else to give her. We offered photos but she didn't even want any, saying we already had loads on the file (these were from the K1 visa though lol). She then said she believed our relationship is bona fide marriage, and described the next steps (final review of the docs, card production, removal of conditions in 2 years etc.). Overall it took about 20 minutes,. I just checked the online case status but it hasn't been updated, and I was told to wait to be notified by mail if nothing changes online.

Hi, congratulations , im sure our have been approved

Damn I can't help it and only can be jealous of you 😂 Especially while mine is rejected :( But I'm glad to see some people having their case going so fast, congratulations! :D

I'm so sorry, my friend, I'm feeling sad too, but I'm sure you can retry, I have 58 days waiting for biometric letter , now I do not know what to think, since I read that they were not going to send more RFE, I am a little worried, I think they should send you RFE to adjoint sponsor. I do not know what to think right now, I feel sad .sorry again.

  3. I sent my forms from August 22, 2018, was received on August 24, the last update August 29, fingerprint fee was received. Waiting for biometric letter .

All week I've been calling USCIS, the system was not working, but today I tried again, finally I was able to talk to someone, he told me that this is not normal, cause it's have been more  than 30 days since i received the Noa, he send a notification to the office that  I sent my case  , (Chicago). Now I don't know how long I have to wait without biometric letter . Im the only waiting ?

    Hello Everyone,

My case was received 9/18, and I got a text with all 3 case numbers (AOS, EAD,AP). The 3 letters followed within a week.

When I put in the case numbers online, the only one that comes up is the AP case. The other two numbers come up as “not found.” We have still not received the biometrics appointment letter either.

Has anyone had the same experience with not being able to see your case status after getting the hard copies?

Hello friend, you have to look good, each form has a different case number, you have to look at the envelopes that were sent to you.

    Hi guys,

I have a question regarding name change. When I got married to my husband, I didn't change my last name. But now I do want to change my last name to his . Since we got married in NYC, I know we only need to remarry for the purpose of changing my last name and have an updated marriage certificate with my new name on it.

Since I have already filed all the documents, I am wondering if I can request a name change at the interview by showing the updated marriage certificate, or should I send USCIS the updated marriage certificate to request a name change?

    Thank you!!

I have sent my documents with my married name, in my marriage certificate I have not been able to change my name, and apply for SSN they had problem to send me one for an error  The agent who received me that day did, then it was too late to process my SSN, I had to apply for an SSN when I sent my AOS, I spoke with an immigration lawyer and he saids when you marry   automatically   The name changed, the marriage certificate is the proof, even you  see the name is not changed it , I sent my documents, I received my first notification  to my marriage name, so far I have not been told anything about that.

It's kinda frustrating that we can't really do anything but wait. My husband and i just adopted a puppy and that's keeping me preoccupied but whenever i see the mailman come with just junk mail, it makes me sad. Oh well, it's always gonna be a waiting game until  this whole process it's done. 😑

Same here I just have a tiny cat, but she not helping much she still hiding . But we can't do nothing now ,just wait, even it's not easy .

To those who haven't gotten their biometrics letter yet, have you checked your status on the case status online? If so, does yours say "Fingerprint Fee Received"? They say they received the fee on August 27 but until now i still don't have my biometrics letter. It's already a month since we filed and no letter yet. :(

You are not the only one , 29 finger fee received nothing yet

We checked the box on the AOS form , saying we wanted to get a SS # at the same time as the AOS,EAD... does the SS department automatically send to my wife? Or do we go apply once we get her EAD?

no, when you are filling the form for your EAD, they will ask you if you also have an SSN, you are going to choose no, I want to apply for SSN, and in the form you will see more question about the SSN , you have to respond, automatically your EAD is approved your SSN will also be

Where you able to get your social security number?

I am freaking out :(. We just came from the Social Security office and were told that my fiance's K1 visa is mismatched and we were unable to get the social.

Hi, I had a similar problem when applying for SSN after getting married, I had to apply for SSN when I filled for my AED.

I stay at his house. Enough money is being spent with getting everything together that we don't need to add on an unnecessary expense. His interview is at 10am so we'll take the bus and leave at 3-4am in the morning since it takes about 3-4 hours to get there with stops along the way. We'll get there around 8am or so. He's done this ride before to the embassy. He actually has to take this ride next Wednesday to the hospital for his medical exam at 8am.

Ok, mine was 7 am, I understand
