  1. I overstayed the 60 day grace period of my F1 visa back in 2015 for a period of 30 days. The reason for my overstay was because I was waiting for my masters diploma to be issued, since the college I attended doesn't ship diplomas internationally.

Would I be required to fill out a waiver for my 30 day overstay? I have already filled out the DS160 and disclosed this information. We're just waiting for the interview to be scheduled at this point

  2. My NOA2 expired on Feb 10th. A couple of days prior, I emailed the embassy requesting for an extension, but they never responded to my email. On CEAC it still shows "Ready" for the case status, and that the case was last updated was on Dec 16th (Dec 13th was our interview date, but we emailed the embassy on the 10th of Dec requesting for it to be canceled and postponed until further notice)

Would anyone happen to know what this probably means? And is there a way for me to check the new expiration date of our NOA2? I'm assuming since it still says Ready that our case is still valid or has been automatically extended?

  3. The embassy in Kuwait has our application and we are ready to have the interview. However, my USC is currently unemployed; she just lost her job in October. Having a cosponsor is not an option for us so its something we're not considering.

Would we need for her to wait to get a new job, and hence be able to present paystub+employment letter, or can we go ahead and attend the interview just by using her recent tax returns and bank statement? The tax returns alone will demonstrate that she's lived well above the povery line.

I asked this question a couple of times in the regular forum, but I was advised to ask it here in the regional section. So hopefully someone with more knowledge on specific requirements for the embassy in Kuwait can advise.

Thank you for your time in advance.

Is she able to sponsor you according to the guidelines without a co-sponsor?  If not, I think you will have to wait until she gets a job.

According to her latest tax returns and bank statement, she is, but I thought you needed to show pay stubs and/or letter of employment as part of those guidelines? She just lost her job in October

  5. My fiancé is still unemployed and we're having trouble getting a cosponsor. She's been getting a lot of interviews though. We figured by Febuary she should be back to work and have employment letter + pay stub(s). Her taxes show that she made well above the poverty line in the last 3 years though, and she got a 3 month severance package in October from her past job. We're not sure if that's enough or not, but we're leaning more towards playing it safe.

  6. I just got an email from the US embassy with my interview date and time. I never scheduled an interview yet nor have I filled out the DS160 form as of now. I was under the impression that I schedule the interview after I fill out the form.

The interview is scheduled for December, but how can I reschedule the interview for the February?

I'd like to help if something is more specific to your Embassy but you don't list that in your profile. Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline or your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine your Embassy. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Go to the top right of this page select your name (it's on the upper right-hand corner)>my profile>[below your picture on the right column] edit my profile. Scroll to the bottom and fill in "Immigration Info". There now we can better serve you.

    Thanks

You're right. I will update it later within the day. The embassy we'll be going through is Kuwait. Not a high fraud one but not exactly a walk in the park either.

Police clearance certificates are valid for 1 year from date of issue in the eyes of the embassy unless you reenter the country again for longer than 6 months after receiving it. You should be ok. Received my fiance's certificate in April, and didn't interview until end of August.

Your police clearance certificate is valid for a period of one year from the date it was issued. If the validity has expired before your visa is issued you will be requested to provide an updated police certificate from the country you are currently living in. If you have already submitted police certificates from other countries where you have not recently lived you will not have to provide an update.

That's definitely good to know. Thanks a lot for your feedback

@Prof_Q little reminder, since you are closer to POE than ever.

Get SS# as soon as possible after POE, do not wait for 14 days to apply for it. Just wasting time

After SS# is applied for,  get marriage license and get married and marriage certificate

    Send AOS, EAD and AP

there is no telling how and when the permits or GC will get to you. Some FO get them faster than others, meaning the GC interview can be quicker than EAD

    Good luck

    Thank you! @Alabamak1

you seem to have everything covered if you got letter of employment, bank letters with you account averages, tax forms (w-2. 1099. 1040), possibly 401-k, and other if using assests, but that is all related to the financial stuff

The financial stuff (letter of employment, bank statements, etc) is needed from the petitioner, not the benefiacry, right? Just to confirm
