  1. Is anyone else sitting in Administrative processing and waiting?  We have been waiting more than 7 months through the American consulate in administrative processing. My husband's medical exam expired a month ago. Nothing has been updated in the website for 3 months.  I can't get an answer from anyone at the consulate of Morocco.  My state senator got involved because nothing is happening. If there is any information, please help me.

    just a quick note

    this is a K1

quit calling him your husband and he (especially at interview) should not refer to you as his wife

You need to read the portal and know what can get the K1 denied

    Casa is a hard embassy

i will say good luck for your interview but refering to him as your husband shows u may no be well prepared for what will happen

    incha allah all goes well

Just to respond. I updated the profile, we were married in Morocco October 12, 2017.  We filed the CR-1 visa.  He is my husband.  We are prepared. Thank you for responding.

  3. After nearly 11 months my husband is getting his interview for his visa in Morocco.  Everything in our process went very well. We filed December 3, 2017 and USCIS received application on the 7th.  We got our  letter in July that everything was approved and forwarded to NVC. In August we paid our fees and submitted all required documents electronically. Everything was approved and in October got our interview appointment.  We processed and did all of the paperwork ourselves. We are very happy with how fast the process moved.  We celebrated our one year wedding anniversary October 12.  After 13 years of knowing each other, we are finally going to be starting the new year together.  Yayyyyy

  4. Forgive me, I'm not trying to be confusing. This is my story in short.  I'm a 55 year old woman, I met my Moroccan husband he is 48, we met 12 years ago. We have been friends all of these years. He proposed marriage to me 17 months ago. He bought me a ticket to Morocco to meet his family. I went and met his family and we had a huge engagement ceremony. I was going to file a k-1 visa, but after long consideration we decided to marry in Morocco with his family.  I went back for another month and we legally got married.  We prepared the I-130 and I-130A paperwork together, and when I arrived back to America, I filed with the uscis.  That was more than 3 months ago.  I received the letter from uscis and hot a receipt number. I was told that I could go to the uscis website to check our status of our application. However, everytime I go to the website, it tells me they don't recognize the number. My husband is still in Morocco, I'm still in America. We want to arrange for me to come for another visit, but don't know the process of uscis.  How long does the approval process usually take?  I am a Muslim American woman, we had a Muslim wedding that was witnessed by 2 imams, witnesses, family, friends, a translator.  I have spent 3 months in Morocco with my in laws. I have correspondence with all members. I'm not trying to be confusing, I'm just trying to get information.

  5. Hello, I'm in America, my husband is in Morocco. We have been married since October. I was there in June and July and again in October. We have been communicating for more than a year and have known each other for 12 years. We submitted all proof of emails, phone conversations, pictures, videos, etc.  Signed affidavits from family and friends of our relationship. How long does it usually take to process through uscis?

Once you receive an answer from USCIS they will forward your petition to the National Visa Center and they will contact you via e-mail and they will tell you exactly what to send.

Thank you so much for everyone's help. I nearly panicked thinking I didn't do everything necessary in the beginning.

So if he never been to US, then you will going through to two steps

first step will be sending I-130 to USCIS along with I-130A and copies of your Birth certificate or all pages of your US Passport, 2 photos of you and your husband, Marriage certificate copy and Evidence of Bona fide marriage

Second step will be sending to NVC which you send AOS and other supporting docs

    https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/immigrant-process/petition.html

So after I file the petition. I will wait for an answer before moving forward with AOS?

Although, traditionally, a woman does not take on her husband's family name in Morocco, it does come down to a personal choice. The OP stated she is going to change her family name, and was given good advice to have it changed on her legal documents/ID/bills here in the US before she files to help avoid delays.

I chose to hyphenate my name (should have just taken his because signing things stinks) because if we had moved there, it would not have completely bucked tradition in both countries. Some view that choice differently all around the world. Plus, traveling and staying in hotels there is a bit easier with his last name attached to mine vs having the marriage contract with us always (because it was asked for a couple of times prior to my name change).

We decided together that I would take his last name. I have kept my ex husbands last name for the past 15 years because of documents I had already in his name. My father passed away and so my new father in law offered me the family name.  We decided I will change all my documents in the family name before filing the spousal visa so that everything is in the same name. Thank you for your response.

Its important to change your last name as your husband  when filing the spousal visa because they are very strict even more now then years before..getting your name change to your husbands last name will be a plus and will show your seriousness about your marriage to the consular at the embassy...I have known people that did not get there name changed (wives)before sending in the spousal visa application and they get denied the first time or be in  AP for a long time...it will help you if you change your name to your husband last name and change it on SSI card and drivers license and change your name on at least 2 household bills like light bill, water bill, cable etc.

Thank you for your advice. I will be changing all my documents before submitting my application. I appreciate your assistance. 😊

I'm getting ready to go later this year too. If you have any questions about document collection etc feel free to msg me

Thank you I will do that.  We planned to do the K1 and we were 2 days away from filing.  We spent 9 months collecting all required documents.  So we pretty much have everything. The only thing I needed was a criminal background check (which I got), and now I'm traveling back in 6 weeks.  The only thing I needed really was to know what name I use when filing the I-130.  My new married name or my previous name on the application.
