The case will still be considered within normal timeframes for USCIS purposes for 60 days after receipt of the RFE response. What was the RFE for? Some causes may take longer than others (divorce decrees, court documents, etc. tend to take longer from what I've observed).

It was for a Fiance Letter Intent to Marry and the correct passport photo size. Oh well, guess I am still on the time frame. Thanks btw.

  2. Hi All,

We already submitted our RFE last August 28th, 2017. I just want to know how long will it take for us to receive a response? Or what are the things that we need to do for the meantime while waiting? Are they gonna update it on the USCIS Case Status site that they've already received the RFE?

My apologies for too many questions.

Thank you all and Good Luck!

    That's not really a NOA2...it's just an RFE. :P

The only way to know the content of the RFE is to wait for it to arrive. They won't discuss the contents of the RFE over the phone. It's been 6 business days since the RFE notice, so I wouldn't be worried yet. If it goes another week, you may want to call up and just make sure it was sent to the correct address. My RFE took a week to arrive after electronic notification, but obviously it varies a little from case to case.

Oh I'm sorry, my bad. :) Alright, Ill take note of this. Thanks for the info @geowrian

  4. Hi All,

Finally, we received our NOA2 but unfortunately, it's an RFE. Well, it's a blessing and a curse though. However, on our case status at the USCIS website, they said they sent it last July 20th but my Fiance said he didnt receive any mail yet. Is this normal? How long does it usually take for the RFE to be arrived by mail? Is there any way we can find out what's on the RFE aside from the mail they sent us, so that we can process it ASAP?

BTW, congrats to those who got their Visa approved! And to those who are waiting, let's trust the process. :)

    Thank you all.

Yes, absolutely. Some people wait way longer than that. We waited for 6 months last year, which really isn't that bad considering others wait way longer. The average is much less than that though, so no need to worry yet.

After 5 months you can at least start asking about your case, send service requests and even get help from your congressman or senator.

This is quite upsetting :( I guess Ill just continue with the waiting game. Thanks for this info though!

Hi March Filers, I am also a March lurker and have been patiently waiting to hear from USCIS... I just heard yesterday from them that I will be getting an RFE soon  but I'm just happy they touched me case. I don't know what the RFE will be for, but when I get the letter I swill definitely need your help to make sure I get approved ASAP..

Thank you all, and your stories and support have been so inspirational through this long wait:)

    NOA1: 10 March

    RFE1: 6 July

    P. S. i will update my timeline soon! Thanks to all the March whiners :jest:

    Hi there,

May I know how did you find out that you'll be getting an RFE?

Our NOA1: March 7th and havent received our NOA2 yet.

    Thanks!

That's not completely correct. The RFE happens at the same timeframe as the NOA2 or denial. It's just a matter of someone picking up your case to review it, then they make a decision - RFE, NOA2 or NOID. So when you haven't heard anything about your i-129f, it only means that no one has picked up your case yet. Once they do you can receive either of the 3 mentioned, even if it takes 30 days or 6 months.

With the AOS later on however, it often works the way you described it, where RFEs are sent out early and then you stI'll might have to wait for months to hear something back.

I see, so I just assume, no one has picked up our case yet (hopefully not for RFE) since it has been 125 days that we are still waiting for our NOA2. NOA1 was received March 7th 2017, now it's so frustrating.

But thank you guys for all your responses. I really appreciate it.

No, traveling within the US should not cause a delay or any problems.

As frustrating as it is, the unknown and waiting are all part of the process. I empathize with you because I was in hose shoes this time last year. I hope you hear something soon! Best of luck!

This is such a relief. Thank you for this. Ill keep you guys posted once we received the NOA2. Hopefully within this month. #fingerscrossed

Are you saying that you still haven't been approved or that you have been approved but you never received the hardcopy?

If it's the first matter, then no, just because you haven't been approved yet doesn't mean you will receive an RFE. It only means they haven't looked at your case yet.

It took 6 months for us to get approved and we never got an RFE.

We only received the NOA1 and now we've been waiting for the NOA2 and got nothing by mail, email or text. So I was quite worried maybe it got delayed because it's an RFE or something. Already waiting for the NOA2 for 125 days already. :(

But @Bill & Katya already gave me a heads up about the RFE. Thanks for the response though! ;)

I don't have any inside knowledge, but I believe most RFEs happen fairly early in the submission as I believe the package is reviewed early to make sure it is complete.  What usually causes the delay closer to the NOA2 is the time it takes to conduct the background check on the applicant, or it could be that the USCIS clerk handling your package is on vacation, or something else equally esoteric.

Oh I see, how do they normally do the background check? Will it be a problem if my fiance travels a lot from a different state in the US for work? I'm sorry I have no idea about this thing.  Thanks though!

I would expect you should hear something soon.  It seems you are still within the normal processing times, and I know it is difficult to see some with NOA1 dates after yours already with a NOA2, but that could be just whose desk your application ends up on.

Keep the faith and Good Luck!

Thanks for this @Bill & Katya Im just worried that this might lead us to RFE

  12. Hi All,

I've decided to join this forum for me to get some information about my K1-Visa. I'm so glad that most of you usually respond to each other's concerns. It has been 4 months but we haven't received our NOA2 yet. It's quite frustrating since we received our case March 7th, 2017. I've seen some who process theirs later than mine got their NOA2 already. My fiance tried to call the but he can't get into a real person.

Hoping someone out there who has the same received date is still waiting for their NOA2 also, :(

Congrats to those who have their NOA2 already.

Keep faith to those who are waiting just like me.
