We just included a signed statement of intent to marry within 90 days of arrival on the visa from the petitioner and the beneficiary. Chat logs are secondary evidence. Make sure you have proof of meeting within two years, pictures flight hotel receipts. Receipts with both names on them. Etc. Don’t include chats if you call each other “wifey or hubby” this can cause a denial as they would think you are too married for the K1 and not married enough for the CR1. The statements of intent to marry are fine.

what specifically did you say that would make it look like an arranged marriage?

Totally agree with above: " signed statement of intent to marry within 90 days of arrival on the visa from the petitioner and the beneficiary" - we got an RFE requesting that.

    Hi all,

We are creating a timeline of the past 2 years to show when we have seen each other in person. Do you think it would be detrimental to put when we met on the timeline even though it was over 2 years ago? We wanted to create a full picture.

    Thanks in advance!

We did a timeline, pictures... at the end all they care about was evidence: passport stamps are key if available. We got an RFE that requested an official statement (signed letter) indicating that we met. The REF indicated that pictures are not evidence... so no idea if they actually looked at them...

    Hello guys!

We are in Houston so probably the slowest office possible... when would you consider renewing the EAD and AP?  It's still valid until July but just wondering since it took 5 months to get it maybe I should file for renewal now? ... really starting to be worried that we won't get our interview before July... what do you guys think?    (... why is Houston office so slow :( )

ok responding to my own post lol... I field for renewal. It's free and better be safe than sorry. I did not apply for the AP, not sure if it will be automatically renewed but EAD is the most important.

Thanks for all the advice. I was able to import my car even though all the registered importers denied. I went to the CBP office in Seattle; and told them that my car did not have TPMS. They said as long as I can get it installed and provide them some paperwork they should be fine with it.

So I brought an after-market TPMS from Amazon and installed the TPMS in my car. Furthermore, I  wrote a self-declaration stating what I installed to meet compliance for TPMS. I also attached a bill of purchase and TPMS product description. Took all these docs and my car to CBP Seattle, and they imported my car.

I will attempt this also. Love my car too much lol...  just to confirm did you actually install it yourself or does it have to be installed by a professional? and please cross your fingers!!! I hope it works for me also!

    That gets me thinking...

Both of us can just visit a US Consulate in Canada and sign our "letter of intents to marry" and "how we met" in front of a consular official. Their stamp will indicate time / place for evidence?

I don't think you need that and I would be very surprised if the consulate would do something like this but I may be wrong...

  6. We were in the same situation ... while we did fly back and forth on multiple occasions to see each other we did not keep any boarding passes (as we did not planned to get married when we met the first time lol) and we also had not stamps in passports. We submitted pictures, plane tickets purchase  proof, and what we could could come up as evidence and it was not sufficient. We got an RFE requesting an "official statement" - so we had to write a letter similar to the "promise to marry" letter stating that we did meet in person. I would suggest you also include this letter, something like "I solely declared that I met on that date (or dates) with X" and of course sign it. The RFE clearly indicated pictures are not evidence.... include as much as you can to avoid the delay of an RFE

means u paid 1225+ 575? i think if ur adjusting from k1 concurrent with ead n ap the total amt is only 1225(filing fee for aos n biometrics)

If you are filling from K1 you have to pay $1,225: AOS + biometric... no need to pat AP or EAD if you file all at the same time.

I had my package returned cause I forgot biometric fees so I doubled check on the phone when I called them.

So you were right. Got it in the mail this morning... but :( stupid me forgot the biometric fees!!!! so they returned everything back and I just went back to the post office and mailed it again with a new check.... :((((

Hi, mine file was delivered on Feb 1st and we didnt send the form for text msn and email, but on friday morning the checks was cashed, so maybe today or tomorrow :) fingers crossed!!

    Hello,

My package was delayed in the mail (send on 23rd via USPS express and only delivered on 31st PM!).... now still waiting for NOA :(

Hope it will come this week .... the wait is so long :( and starting to be worried.

Your case is much better since you knew it was being delivered already at the USCIS. In my case, still “delivery attempt: action needed” status on the USPS and when I called them today they said it is still on the Post Office and still waiting for the USCIS to pick it up. How could that happen when they said everyday USCIS picks their mail at the post office. I am really confused. 😢

Sometimes also it takes 2 weeks for USCIS to send you notice that they received your case. Just wait for more frw days, it will surely come. It depends on where and who handles your case.

Me, I think, I should just wait for the USCIS to send me notice and receipt numbers hopefully or wait for my packet to be delivered back to me. 😢

Yes don't give up. USPS has lots lots of issues lately... I mean apparently everyone does :((( i just hope they don't lose anything cause it was a big package!

  11. Hello,

I think USPS is having some issues.

I sent my package on Jan 24th. Delivery was for the next Friday but it only got delivered on Jan 31st.

I also sent with signature and to Chicago PO Box so that should not be a problem.

That being said, since then absolutely nothing! The check has not been cashed in, no sign of NOA. Quite frustrating to be in the unknown.  :(((

Anyone else in this situation... I've seen other people receive their NOA with a few days - why is this taking so long and what can we do? call?

I had my interview on Wed Nov 15 and it was ready to be picked up Fri Nov 17 around noon time! Located in Toronto if it matters.

    Hello Bracy,

do you remember if the consulate gave you an actual "verbal timeline" when to expect the visa?

just curious why suddenly it would be so much longer :(

how long did it take to get an actual tracking number?

    thanks!

Oh perfect. Thank you so much.

One last question, if you know - for the last 5 visits to the USA, does that include when you were travelling to another country and were transit in USA or is it for personal travel to the USA?

Sorry not sure... but I would think that no need to include the transit  - unless you actual did go through customs: then yes include it since you crossed the border.

    Hey!

When doing the  DS-160,  Is a digital photo required for that, as I am about to start it. And what is the difference between a passport/document number and the passport book number?

    Thank you!

    Hi,

Yes you need to upload a digital photo. I got a new passport photo and paid a little extra so they also gave me a digital photo that fits the requirements.

Passport number is the actual number and the passport book number is listed on p. 3 above bar code for Canadians... other passports may or not have it.

For anyone reading this forum regarding importing a vehicle into the usa i wanted to share my story.

I purchased a BRAND NEW eco friendly Hyundai top of the line sante fe 2017 ultimate sport in january

Since it was a 2017 the canadian hyundai dealership told me it was identical to the usa model and i would not have any issues importing the car.

    Little did they know!!!!

I received the compliance letter from hyundai and the vehicle was good for everything except tpms which is tire pressure monitoring system (tells you when your tires are low)

This was something that hyundai national, hyundai canada or hyundai usa could not install!!!!

We fought about this for 2.5 weeks as i originally purchased the vehicle with the intention of importing and bought it under false intentions as i was told the canadian and usa model are exact replicas.

Long story short i spoke to NHTSA and they said tpms is mandatory the vehicle can not even be brought in for personal use (as i read that some people get their cars in and drive them than import them for personal use) well apparently that is not allowed or the case at all.(the tpms rule is for 2008 cars and newer) some get blacklisted..or you are requested to remove your vehicle or dispose of it. Crazy stuff! Im not willing to risk!

The tpms also has to be oem installed identical to the usa version of the vehicle. After market is not allowed.

Since that was not installable i had to try to sell this vehicle.

We all know that once a vehicle is registered it is no longer new and drops value very quickly. The dealership tried to offer me a 13000 dollar loss. I told them i would come to terms losing 8 k but not 13 as the suv only had 4600 km on it.

After two weeks of battling with them as there was nothing else they can do they finally settled for 40k

The vehicle sells over 50k new but since it was registered they can no longer give 0% financing so for them it wasnt worth buying the suv back.

I just wanted everyone to be very weary and know your facts before importing vehicles. This isnt just for new cars ..be prepared get a compliance letter asap to be sure you can take your vehicle to usa!

I dont want anyone to go through the stress i did.

Alot of domestic vehicles have tpms and this is not an issue but nondomestic vehicles are not made with tpms any longer for canada as our weather creates low pressure in tires and the sensors constantly go off. Also the sensors need to be replaced with tire change or reset so it was a nusisance and they just decided not to add them anymore.

Some vehicles are built exactly like their usa counterpart such as ford etc. So this forum post is not for everyone.

    Hope this helps!

I am so freaken crying now :( Mine is a year old. Dealership also told me it would be fine for import. I love my car :( ....
