  1. Hi guys, I just got done with my 2nd medical at St lukes Extension Clinic last friday and thankfully I passed. After 8 months and 3 weeks of waiting due to Long AP I got an email from the embassy in Manila for my 2nd medical. I just wanna know how long it takes for them to issue the visa after receiving the required action/medical result? How long did it take you to change your status from ap to issued? Since I received the email from them last june 8, I couldnt view my ceac status under the Immigrant visa but I can check it through the Non immigrant visa section using my ds160 barcode. Also, when I went to pick up my passport at the embassy last thursday for my repeat medical, the Filipino consul at window 36 (who gave me back my passport) advised me to submit my updated nbi clearance via 2Go, I got confused cos going back to the email they sent me only the new medical exam at st Lukes was being marked and nothing on the new nbi clearance. Either way, Id still submit them my updated nbi clearance on monday as the previous one has already outdated/expired. My 2nd question is can I still send it via 2go with the submission letter from the courier itself that I was adviced to print? If yes, do I still need to include the printed copy of the email the embassy sent me (which is only the required document for my new medical)? Sabi kase dapat kasama yung printed copy from the embassy’s email e yung nakamark lang naman dun is yung submission for my new medical at hindi yung para sa nbi clearance. Please help 🙏🏻

You live in Pakistan? If yes...yes you can do medical without passport but with its colored photocopy. As one of the members in this forum did this and got his visa after that. Please tell me did u give your interview in Islamabad Pakistan? My interview was on 20th september 2017 in Islamabad embassy. It's been 8 months and 3 weeks since then as well.

Im from Manila. Im not from pakistan. My interview was on sep 14th 2017. So I dont have to go to the embassy and pick up my passport for my remedical? I called the lady at the embassy too and she told me I shld just bring the printed copy of the email notification I received from the embassy and just present it at the clinic but then I got confused cos look what they said on their email

    Greetings friends!

I came back to inform you that I have received my visa after a long administrative processing, finally!

I am currently in the United States, where my now spouse and I were finally reunited.

I was placed under administrative processing in late 2016, well before the ds5535 existed. We waited, and waited and waited, until one day, a year later, I was called. They asked to resubmit some documents along with a fresh medical exam, which we promptly did. We were then placed under a little bit more Administrative Processing, three or four months, I had stopped counting the days and months at that point... They then emailed us the ds5535 form. the latter took about 2 months to finish, and the visa was finally issued.

I had honestly never in my life felt more relief and happiness than the day I picked up my passport with the visa printed on it.

tl;dr: ap for 400+ days, ds5535 took 2 months to complete, visa was issued.

Congratulations! Did they ask you to redo your medical?

Yes, the nature of DS 5535 is about all the social media activities of the applicants, yes it is a security clearance form.

Thank you for your response! If its mostly about social media activities why are they taking such a long time just to review our social medias. We can be cleared from that in just a day. When they say security checks how are they doing all this background check? Thru screening names from different databases of different agencies?

Guys, is there anyone on this forum that have filled the DS 5535 form and haven't got any response from the embassy/consulate after 6 months? My 6 months have completed without even a single update to my case. Please share your experience because i dont want my case to go in a blackhole. I hope we all get through this tough time soon.

My interview was on September 14,2017 submitted the form that same day and still under AP until now. I turned 6 months on ap last week. There's no update on my case yet 😔

Each country is different. Even though Nepal and India are similar culturally, Indian law makes a religious ceremony a marriage while Nepal does not. Granted in both countries getting married at the age of 14 with a ceremony is all too common, though perfectly illegal.

In my case, I read that it was okay to have done unofficial rites/marriage during the petition stage, and wrote very clearly and honestly that we already had a religious ceremony and in my mind considered it excellent proof of being a bona fide couple. I wrote that in the petition and during the consular phase. I did my best to research things, but as mentioned before, at that stage I had really limited internet access. I never thought about it again, since the petition was approved, and I had stated it there. Like I said, I learned about it being a problem the day of the interview when the consular officer said you are already married and refused the visa. I searched online and of course a million results came up. I don't have any illusions about it now, and was here to ask a question about 221g, not religious ceremonies, but I do think it is definitely worth having a discussion about.

I think it's a very easy mistake to make, actually, because the law is the law and religion is religion usually. Is a baptism the same as a birth certificate? Does giving a eulogy for a loved one give you access to their bank account? The K1 visa sees the religion and law as more interrelated, and I totally understand that, especially when some nations do legally recognize marriage without paperwork. But I do NOT think it is intuitive, it's just that it seems obvious if you have already heard about denials based on this issue.

Can I ask you who did inform you that your case was being returned to USCIS? Is it the counsul? Is it someone from the embassy or just other informant outside? You have to be specific about the details, If it's the consul Officer or someone from the Embassy then it is indeed a denial, but if its not from the Embassy then you still have this little chance/hope.

Yes I do check it everyday from mon-fri but its still under AP. I guess thats the main reason why we were put under AP. So sad that we all have to go through this, we're missing a lot of important events and occassions

Could be because you worked there, did you try emailing the embassy explaining in detail that you have been waiting since september 2017 and it is difficult for you to be far away from your spouse... etc?

Yes I emailed them last and they responded just the same Its still under administrative Processing. The last real update I got from them without any inquiry or call was from October. The rest of all the updates were becos of my inquiries and calls. During my interview the consul just asked me very little questions about my Fiance, he was asking more of my stay in Iraq.

  12. I am the beneficiary and Ive been waiting for 6 months now. Is there really a backlog for security clearances for as under AP or SAO? I dont know whats happening, Im not from the T-26 countries I am from the Philippines and I had my interview in my home country way back Sept 2017, I worked in Erbil kurdistan which happens to be a part of Iraq for over 2 years.  Do you think that triggered the consul to put me under Washington special clearance or SAO?

During my interview, the consular asked me if i have a police clearance from Syria coz i work there.. I answered them in a very respecful way.. i told them that i tried to get a police clearance many times but theyre not going to release any police clearance to any foreign national. Its only available for syrian who lives in syria...

then after hearing my answered he checked it on his computer... and asked me are u sure??? I said yes sir ... it took like 10 mins checking something on his computer and he called one of the people inside the room and asked..is syrian government not issuing police clearance...i was really shocked that they dont aware of that...

Im sure thats the reason why they put my application under administrative processing..

Hello there, Your case was put under administrative processing with the new extreme vetting process. Did the consul ask you to fill out the supplemental form ds 5535? We are in the same situation, I worked in Iraq for almost 3 years to and my interview was last sep 14,2017. I had everything, complete documents, police clearance in Iraq, my contract my Oec and all but they still put me under SAO (Security Advisory Opinion) we had to go thru this whole process becos we once travelled to a country they considered sponsor of Terrorism so they have to conduct more thorough background and security checks. We have to wait for our clearances from Washington and different agencies in the states. The embassy here cant do anything about our case hanggat wala pa yung clearance natin na yun. Ive been waiting for over 5 months now. Mag 6 months na nga this coming March 14th. Its a very long wait but wala tayo magagawa about it. I know 2 other girls with the same situation like ours din. Theyre Pinay as well. Venus worked in Syria and Bernice worked in Libya. And until now we're all still waiting. Dont worry its very normal, delay nga lang talaga.
