Congratulations what questions were you asked by the way?

nothing new. same old questions that's already provided on the form. only extra question was if we had any ceremony after marriage at the court house. she took the photos and kept it on the file and told us that might help to avoid another interview in 2 years. since my wife came via K1, they already had all the docs. so, other than the USCIS related docs, she didnt ask us for more docs. YMMV

    All the best!

You actually confused the USCIS by filing EAD on one side and AP on the other side. On one side you are showing your intentions to stay and work in the USA and on the other side you are showing your intentions to go out of the USA by applying for AP. Have patience.

One of the job requirements is the ability to travel to Canada to client's location

  3. we filed for 485, EAD & AP on March 27. we called USCIS on 6/22 to expedite EAD/AP and then mailed via USPS (6/29) and faxed the documents (7/3) (job offer). it's been more than a week and haven't received any update from USCIS. if we call, they say, they won't confirm, whether they have received the documents and processing the request. We have also contacted the senators to expedite them. Do you usually get response from USCIS once you send the fax or send by USPS? how to get status update? how long could this take?

  4. my wife wants to go to her brother's wedding in August, and we applied at the end of March. It's very important for her as she has to perform lot of rituals during the wedding. we are not sure if she will receive AP by that time. she has done bio-metrics couple of weeks ago. what are the best options?

wait for 75 days and then file for expediting the AP or SR? or file for expediting it now? or do Infopass to expedite AP?

for evidence, submitting wedding invitation would be enough?

going to India is expensive and we need to book flight tickets in the next 30 days to get a good price.

    thanks

  5. You should go ahead and submit ds-160. Schedule medical in the next 2 weeks and do it ahead of interview. You can always get the interview appointment letter via email, if you haven't received  yet by post. Create account at ustraveldocs, fill out info, pay the fee. Then book interview slots , at least 4+ days from medical (takes 2 days) as sometimes you might get sick with so many vaccines and travel, if don't live in one of those cities, where it's available. arrange all required documents, copies and prepare for interview questions. Book hotel and flight, if needed; stay close (Sofitel) if you can as you don't have to fret about being late for the interview.

  6. My fiance will be bringing jewelry with her (most of the accumulated gold jewelry in the last 20-30 years, and also diamond wedding rings). Anybody had any experience with bringing lot of jewelry at POE? do you declare or not? do you have to pay duty?

CBP website has this - "For Customs purposes, clothing, jewelry, photography equipment, portable radios, and vehicles are considered personal effects and cannot be brought in duty-free as household effects. However, duty is usually waived on personal effects more than one year of age. All vehicles are dutiable."

Would this be a big deal? if they ask her to pay duty, but what if she is not carrying enough money to pay duty?

Hey Kannan, how many days did it take after the interview to have the visa issued? Sounds like you went in for the interview on Friday and the visa was ready on Tuesday. Is that correct? How in advance did you book your interview? Appreciate all the help. My fiancée has an interview scheduled for March 16. It was the earliest date available..

We booked in the first week of January. Yes, it only took one more business day for the status to become issued. Got the physical visa on Thursday. Create another profile and keep checking for the earliest available interview date. If you find an earlier date available, login with real account and quickly change to the earlier date.

Hi! I've got a question about the i134. The embassy provided an OLD i134 for us to fill out - I asked, and they said to fill out the new one. Fine, no problem. However, the instructions that they provided state that they need "a statement from an officer of a bank regarding his or her account, the date the account was opened, and the present balance". The new form states that they ALSO want the total amount deposited for the past year.

My issue - my banks are being very difficult about putting together a letter that includes the total amounts deposited. Does anyone have any advice here on what their letters included (or didn't) that were acceptable?

    Thanks!

if you tell the bank you need it for immigration purposes and you need the amount deposited in the past 12 monhts, they usually know and they will mail you the letter to your home (at least thats what my bank did); but the consulate didn't even collect it from my fiance - they only wanted the tax transcripts and w2 (Mumbai consulate; YMMV)

  9. My fiance will be coming in few weeks and get married in another couple of weeks. She has been to the USA before on work visa and hence already has SSN. if she wants to change her last name, do we do that during marriage (get marriage certificate with new name?) and then use that to get new SSN card with the changed name, apply for AOS etc? what is the procedure?

  10. I believe they started this from last year (result of san bernardino attack); if the fiance is from middle-east or any of the countries on the watchlist, they ask their social media accounts and travel history so that they can identify the threat profile
