  1. It’s been almost year since I became a US citizen. The interview for me consisted of basic questions from the N-400 form I filled and the civic test. No one questioned me about vawa. It was a simple and quick process.
  2. The timelines are faster nowadays. Everyone is getting an interview within 3-6 months of applying.
  3. You can write an affidavit stating you don’t have any of these and request USCIS to check their databases for him. That’s if he’s ever applied for an immigration benefit. Be sure to write his full name and DOB. Good luck in this journey. Its a tough one but with enough support you’ll get through. Read these VAWA threads all the way from part 10 and you’ll be equipped to handle your case yourself. Also, always ask anything regarding the petition here. We are a group of folks who help each other.
  4. I’m so happy that you’re in a good place in your life. Please do not entertain the past ones. They’re called “past” for a reason.
  5. Hi Vawa family! I’m officially a US citizen!!! 🎊 🎉🥳 My interview was today. I was kinda nervous before the interview but it was a lot easier than I thought. My appointment time was at 10:45am and I got called in at 11:50am but was able to check in much earlier though. The interviewer was a lady who was very friendly, bless her. Started with the 6 questions: Why do some states have more than one representative Name the current president Name three original states How do we stop one branch of government from becoming too powerful Forgot the other 2 questions but they were easy After this I was asked yes/no questions and asked to read “When is flag day” and write “flag day is in June”. She then proceeded to make a few changes and asked me to review before signing. Nothing asked about my ex-spouse or VAWA at all. All in all the interview lasted no more than 6 min. I was then directed to the downstairs lobby where my green card was taken and I waited for the oath ceremony. The oath ceremony started at 20 mins later. We were maybe 40 people in the room. I’m glad I got to take the same day oath and not have to worry about USCIS anymore. I’m relieved this journey is finally over for good! FO: Seattle Now off to applying for a passport! Thanks to everyone on VisaJourney for your help over the years! A page is finally closing!!😃 For everyone still in the waiting game, don’t worry- your day will come too just like it has for me.
  6. Just wondering; do officers interviewing in Seattle wear masks? Also, if it’s virtual, which software do they use? Teams/Zoom or any other?
  7. To everyone here: you matter, you’re worthy, you’re a survivor and you will win! Don’t fall for their lies and tricks again. Once a liar/ cheater- always a liar. Narcissists rarely change. Standup for yourself. The best revenge is success!
  8. Yes sista! Its still 2 years 9 months. I am in the same boat as you. Hopefully we file for citizenship soon and complete this journey successfully:)
  9. @Matu sorry to hear about it but I’m sure USCIS explains in NOID letter why they intend to deny. Many times it’s something that can be corrected with more evidence such as shared residence for residence proof etc. One of the most common reasons for denial was that people who filed it were ineligible for VAWA benefit because of previous unterminated marriages or applying 2 years post-divorce. In your case, I hope it’s something simple that can be explained and have USCIS reverse their decision.
  10. No, don’t overthink. This will have no impact at all. Besides, its your copy. USCIS have copies of each and every letter and document which they send to you and vice versa. The punching is a way to secure papers together. I recall sending in my VAWA application with paper pins but at my interview my file had all documents punched and secured like that.
  11. @Stillwinning!!!😊 I’m filing soon for N-400 as well. I too need all the help I can. A Vawa VJ member @gramercy recently completed her citizenship process. Her timeline has all the needed info for submission online till the interview. I’d use this as a guide as well.
  12. @Blunt your VAWA journey is concluding soon. The interview is just a formality. Congrats in advance upon your grand green card approval. 🎈🎉🎊
  13. @Blunt Please take a deep breath. Your case will be approved in God’s name! This is a journey, everyone of us has crazy experiences along the way. In my case I had a so called “pro-bono” atty from catholic charities who didn’t know her job and I hopped from psychologist to psychologist trying to get myself an immigration evaluation. On top of that, my original i-130 atty was fired by me and he never withdrew his representation anyway and was giving updates to my ex! So Idk how effective those letters are.
  14. Congratulations my dear! I remember when I stumbled upon VisaJourney, (during one of the darkest episodes of my life),you were in the VAWA process then and very active in the forum as well. You answered everyone’s questions to the best of your ability and helped many folks in the process. It’s heartwarming to see that your immigration journey is officially complete! May you be an asset to this country and continue to shine! ✨
