Hello everyone :) I received my NOA2 3rd of November. Patiently waiting now for a case number. What is the typical waiting time? And is there anything I can do in the meantime or do I need that case number to move forward?

There is nothing now that you can do But get ready for the later end! I would say it’s 2 months from NOA2 and when you see your baby :)

I have to agree as well.   Each embassy is different but we had to mail a readiness letter after ds160 and wait for an interview date to be assigned.   So with all this interview  is Nov 6

The Consulate in Amsterdam sometimes schedules appointments sometimes within three weeks. As soon as they receive the case, they send her a letter telling her to go online and schedule everything

Do you have the tracking number from NVC?  You will get the tracking number before the files are physically delivered to the embassy.  If you have the number you can schedule the interview.  There is generally some time (30 to 60 days) for the first available slot.  You can get the interview scheduled and the medical taken care of so you aren't just sitting and waiting.

No they tell me that they don't have my case yet

Back in the summer, it took me a month to get a number from NVC (NOA2 May 19th, got my # on June 20th).  Unfortunately, some petitions just take longer to be processed.  At the time, every time I called they said "not received", until one agent told my husband to use option 5 (instead of option 7 I think is what is regularly used) because we were an electronic case.  Once we called that line (on June 20th), they told us they had actually received our petition on June 6 and we didn't have a number yet.  We called again that night and got our number.

I am not sure if this is still happening to some people since it was awhile ago, but there is no harm in trying option 5 and seeing if you are in that system??

We did a K-1 so I doubt that it is electronic... But I don't know, might as well give it a shot

I think you’re correct yes. From what I read, it’s pretty fast once they have your case. It can be 2-3 days before it gets to the embassy.

It makes feel so mad honestly and frustrated. I don’t understand why we have to wait longer :( so unfair. I am gonna call them at the end of their day around 6pm and see if they have something...

Let me know if they have it, if they have yours then they probably have mine too

But Christmas is still very very possible... stay positive!

Thanks bud!!! I'm certainly praying for it. I think they ship a bunch at the same time to NVC together maybe?? Maybe they will be shipped in the same box haha. It stays at NVC for only a couple of days usually before it is sent to the Consulate if I am correct

That does seem like a long time for NVC.  I did hear others say that it can take a month.  I would keep calling everyday!

They were very rude and uncheerful to me on the phone and told me, sir it takes 6 weeks sometimes for the NVC to receive a case from USCIS. You will receive a letter when we have it. I am legit so frustrated because I waited some 161 days for NOA2 and now this "fastest" part looks like its gonna take forever, and the idea of having her here with me in December is slowly falling away.. :(

  9. Hello everyone, I have received my NOA2 on 10/10/17. I have just called the NVC and they told me that they haven't received my case yet, however I look at literally everyone's timelines and their cases have all been through the NVC and at the consulate 2 1/2 weeks after NOA2. Is this normal? We really want to get married before Christmas but it's looking a little impossible now I guess? :/ It will be going to the US Consulate in Amsterdam.

    Hi Channah,

I assume you're talking about the medical done in Amsterdam?! Nothing to worry about, you do not have to go naked! They weight you, measure you height, check your bloodpressure and just ask you general questions (have you ever been depressed, on medication etc). Oh yeah, they also take some blood, so if you wear something with short sleeves so they can reach your elbow easy you do not have to take off any clothes.

The X-ray is done at a different place (at least when I had to do it) and I did have to take my shirt and bra off. I didn't have a bad experience, nobody touches you and you just have to stand in still for a few minutes and you're done and can dress up again.

    Letty

If you wear a 100% cotton shirt without a tag and pictures, then you only have to take the bra off, but you can leave the shirt on. :) Cotton doesn't interfere with Xray beams
