  1. Hi, I will be removing the conditions on my green card soon and I think I have everything ready except I'm confused by the Finger print card Form FD- 258. Do I go to a police department or a US consulate to get these done. There is no mention of if I need to make

an appointment to do this. Do I just print the form and take it with me? or are they special cards. I just need a little direction. Thanks In Advance.

Half your luck Sophie. My visa was issued on the same day, however, it appears that Australia Post has lost it! Can you tell me, on the express post parcel, did you sign the Aviation Declaration or did the Consulate. I left the declaration blank thinking that the consulate would sign it, as they are the ones actually posting the parcel, however, it wasn't signed. Not withstanding the package should've arrived by road but it hasn't. I am absolutely distraught.

The consulate signed it when the two girls at the reception before security took all my paperwork. I’m sorry to hear that. that has to be the worse thing to happen after everything. I hope it shows up.

  3. Hey,

I received my immigrant visa in the mail in my passport a week ago. All that was sent to me was my passport alone, no visa packet or envelope. I got an email with info on how to read my visa and the annotations mine is “IV documents in CCD 212(g)(2)(B) “ but I’m worried that supposed to have a sealed packet to take with me. Everywhere I have read says there is a sealed packet. Help! The annotation table is below!3D5FFE17-946C-4D47-91B8-CBC3C6F5EEAC.thumb.jpeg.eb09c12739199000d27a996f66503315.jpeg

Hmm. I thought the second table down "IV Documents in CCD" is on the visa annotation and therefore requires medical files. Pretty sure that it also has a cover letter with our DOS and something else number which we need to pay the immigration fee of USD $220 prior to travelling

Idk all I know is that mine is the one that says ‘ IV Documents in CCD 212 (g) (2) (B)’  which I read as saying I only require my passport to enter. I also got the email that said I have to pay a fee before I enter the US for issuing of my green card

    Hi Sophie the Gamer,

I asked at the DMV in Colorado Springs a couple of weeks ago, apparently you can go to the social security office and request a letter (I think it was called a SNAP letter) which will have your SSN on it and use that. Our health insurance company said that once I enter the US as a resident and have a SSN then they can add me to my wife's policy.

    Hope that helps.

Yeah thanks, Im just so concerned so I may buy a policy for a week or so just to cover myself. I'm a nurse here in Australia so I know exactly how much it costs if anything goes wrong and I definantly not gonna get without insurance even for just a week. Too risky. Thanks Mate :D

Sorry that was a typo on my post.  You CANNOT use travel insurance when you are immigrating.  You'll need to get the short term insurance that I referred to if you cannot get added to your husband's policy.

Since you have a CR-1, as soon as you get the stamp in your passport when you enter the US, you are eligible to work.  You don't have to wait for your greencard to actually arrive.

Okay but most jobs require a SSN so how do you get around that? How long did his green card and SSN take to come through?

Immigration should be considered a life-changing event, so he should be able to add you to his insurance as long as it's done within 30 days of you getting here.  In our case, my husband entered in July 2015 to help me move into our new house and activated his visa then, but had to go back to the UK until Nov to finish work.

We went with a temporary insurance for the remainder of 2015 until I got him onto my insurance during open enrollment in Nov of that year to start 2016.  If you look at einsurance.com, you can see some options to find one that will fit your needs.  It's fairly reasonable.

I was thinking of maybe buying a few months of travel insurance then once im there and have my green card and SSN we can switch to his or Ill activate my own with a Job. Can I ask how long did it take to get your green card mailed and SSN once he arrived? I've never not had a job and I wanna try get a job as soon as possible once I arrive. My husband is a student for another year so rather than eat into my savings I wanna work as soon as possible. Im entering the US ona CR-1.

  8. Hey Everyone,

My interview is on the 21st of August and am hoping to be moving to the US end of September once approved. My husband has Health insurance but I'm not really sure if that will cover me either way I'm unsure if I should be purchasing travel insurance as health insurance

until we sort it out or if I should look into something else. Ahhh its really hard cause I don't wanna get caught without insurance and stuck with a massive bill. Halp Me !

    Thanks,

    Sophie

Sometimes you can get a better deal on a round trip depending on how far out you are buying. I'm going to be shopping soon myself I hope if interview goes well, and will buy a round trip ticket if it is cheaper, and set the return as far out as possible then cancel the return leg of the trip. But normally once Visa is in hand you want to be together ASAP, so on a short notice booking one way will be cheaper most of the time.

There is an amazing deals right now, my interview is the 21st of August so I’ve been shopping looking at booking end of September as I have a lot of stuff here to finalise before I leave

  10. Hey,

i was curious its actually cheaper to buy a return ticket than it is to buy a one way ticket to the US. Am I allowed to buy a return ticket once my visa is approved when I move there or does it have to be a one way ticket? Even when I don’t plan on taking the return ticket?

    Thanks,

    Sophie

    Some good news this morning. Our interview date has been set for 8/21/2018. To help with the timings;

5/7/2018 - Uploaded DS-260, AOS and Civil Documents

5/24/2018 - NVC rejected two documents (scanned in landscape not portrait) resubmitted same day

6/13/2018 - NVC requested more documents, documents uploaded and accepted on same day. Notified of being Documentary Qualified.

7/12/2018 - Notified that interview date set for 8/21/2018.

So about 2 weeks for NVC to get to the application after submitted, then about a month to get interview date after NVC completion.

    Hope this helps.

My interview is also the 21st of August so happy it’s been such a long road

Update, I received my NVC numbers via email a last Friday and we have paid the Immigrant Visa Application fee and Affidavit of Support fee.

In a few days the CEAC website will show payment accepted and you can start submitting other documents that they ask for. Then once they approve all docs and they email you with a case complete they will then send you an interview date and more instructions

  13. Yeah so to help people, our application arrived at NVC on May 5th 2018 we did the online CEAC process and we received case complete on the 3rd of July 2018 we are awaiting to be assigned our interview date now which I’ve heard from a friend who has a very similar timeline as me and is from the same country, her interview date was received in only 11 days so hope that helps people in the online stage with NVC and CEAC fingers crossed we get our interview date soon🤞🏻😁

Wish people would stop commenting on something they don't know about. The author submitted docs through CEAC online, it is not the same as email or paper mail processing, it takes several days usually, not weeks, it is much faster and only a few countries are allowed to use this kind of processing.

Hey yeah our case is now complete and waiting on an interview date now, which I’ve heard from a friend who has a similar situation as me only took a couple of weeks so things are looking up.

Hey it took like 4 or 5 days for them to email me saying 2 documents were rejected. I uploaded a revised copy the next day and a few days after the status changed to accepted. So I guess we are waiting for my DS261 form to be vetted and Brooke’s affidavit to be vetted. Hopefully we are close now since our priorit. Date was March 2017 :)

Well thats kinda good to hear, we submitted all our paperwork on CEAC on the 19th June and havent gotten anything to say anything was wrong, sot hopefully that means there are no issues. Fingers crossed :D

    Hi Sophie,

Brooke and I are in the same position as you. We submitted all paperwork online 18 days ago then received a request for change of document (I uploaded an image vertically not horizontally) they accepted the change and it has been 12 days since. I will let you know how we progress, please do the same :)

I have also been processed electronically and will be interviewing here in SYD.

*The Civil documents have been accepted for our case

    Thanks,

    Michael

Thanks Michael, I always feel so lost once we send off paperwork and unsure of when we should hear back, did you get an email telling you that we’d missing s document and only 18 days that’s not too bad. Hopefully we both have interviews soon
