MariaBaker got a reaction from Kat&Joel in June 2018 AOS Filers
hey guys, so i will share my sad story

my interview for GC was on september 3,2019. all went well and in the same day my case was approved ( i saw it from case track USCIS status)
on September 7,2019 it showed my greencard was delivered to my mailbox ( i also got USPS tracking number ) BUT I NEVER RECEIVED IT.

i called USPS to do investigation because it says delivered but i never received it. i only received i-797 approval notice of my Greencard.
i did call USCIS and they said i should wait for 30days to wait just in case my greencard mail was return to USCIS.

and now its been more than 30days. MY GREENCARD NEVER RETURN TO USCIS and USPS claimed my greencard mail is lost or misdelivered (they send me mail for the investigation result)

even its not my fault i should apply form I-90 (replacement greencard) and pay the fee for $540.

iam really upset, mad and stress about this. but nothing i  can do. i have to pay because i want my greencard so i can go home for christmas.

So here is my experience travel with AP

We (me, my husband and my daughter) landed in LAX at 10am. Right away we got off the plane and we where directed to customs. There is two lines at customs. One marked for residents and citizens and one marked for visitors. We got in line to do global entry at the kiosk before go to the line for residents or visitor. I had my combo card with me and waited for about 10 mins in the line. But i cant print it out the global entry form cause that is only for US citizen or GC holder or visa holder. So the the officer said we can go directly to the visitor line together without global entry form. Another line we waited for 20minutes. Finally the officer called us up. I handed him my combo card, passport, and my husband and daughter pasport (they are US citizen) .

He scanned everything and asked why my husband and my daughter didn't print the global entry form. And we said cause the officer lady say we can't print it. He scanned only my right finger.

The he told me. "I'm going to need you to go to second inspection to verify these documents."

I knew from reading online that this is standard procedure for advance parole so don't panic. Easier said than done but keep it together.

I followed him to the room. As he got to the room there is cpb officer sitting at a desk. (My husband and my daughter were not allow to come in with me). He handed him my paperwork and said to him "DACA". He left and he told me to have a seat. he handed my paperwork to another officer who then started to type on his computer. At this point my stomach has churned and twisted and felt like someone was kicking me in the stomach. After about 10 minutes I heard my name being called. I slowly walked up to the desk terrified. The officer then said. "Ok your all set" He handed me my combo card and passport back stamped and on the stamps say DACA feb 2020, i don't understand what is that mean.

Every state has their own rules.
I am in New Jersey and here they don't change your name in the Marriage certificate.
My marriage certificate doesn't have my married name, they said if you want to change your name you just need to present your Marriage certification and your birth certification and you should be fine.
So I did like that when I applied for my SSN and For the AOS, my combo card arrived with my married name.
When you travel you have to show your passport and married certificate and like that you prove your new name in your Combo Card and so on.

Here in NYS the license looks completely different than the actual certificate, the license is more like a form. Take a copy of the license too just in case, along with a copy of your certificate. When I traveled i took my “aos binder” with me just in case. Wasn’t bothered, i was in and out and that was it aaaaand if anything could have come up, i was extra prepared. Bought a big enough purse for my binder to fit in like the nerd that i am 🤓 purse is super cute too btw 🤣

My certificate doesn't show my former name and new name. Is it because marriage certificate in every state are different? Mine was from Utah state

@Maria & Lester hope somehow you can get this resolved, because it's a huge pain in the neck now. Both EAD and marriage certificate, should say the same thing.

@Mellamanlola thanks for the pic of the marriage license. In Alabama, it usually is the same paper (marriage certificate and marriage license). The difference is the stamp that makes it a marriage certificate.

    Hey everyone!
We had our AOS interview yesterday in Portland, OR and were approved! I'm so happy that we're taking a break from visa things for the next 20+ months. He didn't take any additional documentation off me or photographs but I was glad to have taken my folder with me just in case. He didn't ask as many questions as I thought he would, just some of the ones on the I-485 and then about our plans for the future. Should get my green card in 3 weeks! I'm really glad because I have AP but no EAD so I can't wait to get to work!

Good luck to everyone remaining! Hopefully won't be much longer.

February 15, 2019. Our notice came exactly 7 days after the status changed online. A little weird thing, was the way they addressed the letter

Anja Doe <------- my wife (beneficiary)
c/o Raymund Doe <------ my wife's father, who is deceased since 2016 🤔
    1234 Main Rd.
    Apt. 234
    Anywhere, AL 32005

I read here in VJ that this is a common thing the way they address it to the beneficiary. Other pieces of mail always had my name and my wife's name on it.  Hope this is something that future VJ members might see or not see. No need to freak out. By some act of GOD literally....that is my deceased wife's fathers birthday!!!

Hi guys! I hope everyone's year is starting out great!
So a new update on our case: a week ago I've been notified that my interview has been scheduled!!! On January 22nd. I was so ecstatic at work when I read my update during my lunch break, I could not believe it! We filed on June 6th 2018 and on December 21st we got our interview scheduled ( it was waiting to be scheduled since August 7th). The EAD came at the beginning of November.

I do have ONE big concern though: my husband is being deployed on January 11th. So great. I'll have to go by myself to the interview. Haven't called USCIS yet though, I just read a little online that it is allowed to go alone under those circumstances. Does anyone here have any experience with a military spouse that was deployed while your AOS interview?

Anyway, I'm excited to finally be able to go back home without ANY reservations. Wish you all a great new year and just hang in there. I live in West Texas, where it's like the longest wait ever, yet somehow we managed to swim through a sea of applications. You will too.

and yes, now you can, not for more than like 2-3 weeks at a time because of the interview still being pending!! Also they sent you a letter with it that you’re supposed to save in case of needing to renew 🎉 let the job hunt begin!!

It will depend on what your approval letter says, if it says your ead will serve as ap then you’ll get your card like mine, combo card, if not I believe the advance parole is a letter and you’ll need to travel with that letter in order to be paroled back into the states but it’ll probably be combo card👌🏽
