  1. Wife just went to Citizenship Interview yesterday in Tampa...

    30 mins and thorough..

    7 questions including

    - number of senators

    - what do the 13 stripes on the flag signify

    - who would be the President if the President and Vice President could not serve

    - who elects Congress (strange question)

    - name the 2 parts of Congress

    - who led the Civil Rights movement

    - name 3 original colonies

    - describe amendments who can vote (anyone over 18, any race, women, don't have to be a taxpayer

Tampa is doing oath ceremonies.. she was given a sheet of paper saying that she had passed the Civics portion and would be notified of the result but was told that she was approved...

By the time she got home the computer was updated to say 'Oath Ceremony Will Be Scheduled'

She was told may be by the end of the year for a ceremony...

I am in Texas and have not even git Biometrics yet. I filed July 1st, 2020

Maybe @britontherun can tell us what is the magic USCIS number that some of us can call. However, if we do call, kindly come back and update us on what transpired. Do not be like some people who will go MIA if they get positive news and only come to update with negative. Whether negative or positive, we should all update.

Using the same number as you... I don't have a problem getting through... I think at the automated message stage I just pressed "0" - just call during nomral business hours...

Unless something has changed in the last month (I doubt)

I have not yet..the tier 1 customer representative was basically saying there isn't anything that can be done because mine is not a 'reschedule' . The service request is applicable (apparently) to cases where an appointment was rescheduled owing to covid related  office closures.

It doesn't matter what the first officer says... ask for a tier 2 officer. If they won't, call back and try again with a different officer.

The tier 1 officers don't really do much but read from your file.

My question as well. I felt like I'd wait until day 90 but that is for rescheduling not for new appointments.

I've been on the phone thrice and emailed them twice with the same responses. Do we just keep on calling until we can convince to get in touch with a tier 2 officer?

I repeat they MUST put you through no matter what..

They can say 'Miss.. you must wait 90 days and there's NOTHING that can be done''

Whether it's 40, 90 , 120, 300 days.. just politely listen to everything the first officer says and then say ''I WANT TO SPEAK TO A TIER 2 OFFICER PLEASE PUT ME THROUGH''

The first officer basically has the outline of your case on file with zero authority to do anything

  5. If you haven't heard anything seriously call USCIS.. listen to everything the first officer/person says about not being able to give any more information (which is basically a script)

and then say ''Can I Have a Tier 2 Officer Please"....

The Tier 2 officer can send a ticket to your local office about just about anything...

I called, did that and in 2 weeks had a biometric appointment... (as the Tier 2 officer said would likely happen)

Random thought: I have a credit freeze in place with Experian. Could that delay the application if they are trying to get a credit report (as part of the background check maybe) and not able to get the report?

They only care if you are delinquent on taxes.. at least that is what I was told when i did my citizenship... if you have a tax lien, deal with it..

  7. If you are still worried call USCIS and ask for a Tier 2 rep to ask if there's a problem with the application that would have resulted in a delay..

.. the application I have for my wife has an average completion time of 9.5 months to 15 months... at one point it said 12months-15 months

I told her she would probably be a citizen next summer...  now biometrics are set up the case completion date is listed in the profile as February (7 months)....

I just seen mine, it was October 2021 (13 months) and now it is April 2022 (18 months). This is crazy.

I urge peeps not to freak out about case completion dates. The main thing is whether your case is moving or not.

If it is held up because of paperwork not being complete or a background check being difficult that is one thing..

but if you are getting your biometric appointment reasonably (about 90 days or so from the date your local uscis opened back up) then you will probably finish sooner because the only thing left is an interview...

.. my 2 cents... from what i have seen the completion dates fluctuate office to office, month to month and are pretty unreliable..

Just Spoke to a tier 2 agent and I was told that theyre waiting on my Biometrics to be processed, I told her I have received a notice and she said that Biometric notices are being sent out 90days from the date the office was re-opened so in my case I should receive a notice on Biometrics by October 20th, she said if nothing happens call back.

Be sure if you guys do reach a tier 2 agent to ask if they can send in a ticket to your local office... (they can)

You are blessed to at least have any sort of movement from USCIS. I filed April15th and still nothing

    True..

To anyone waiting for movement call USCIS... the first officer will basically tell you to be patient.. then say the words 'I'd like to speak to a Tier 2 Officer'

That person has more information and can write a note of inquiry to your local office.. a call to action so to speak...

There may or may not be reasons for the delay based on case load but the Tier 2 officer said once the notice is put in to the field office to give it about 3 weeks.. and if there is still no action to call back...

Like all things it depends who you get on the phone and how polite you are... but the Tier 2 officers are quite helpful..
