  1. Hi NJ people.  Idk why there are no updates here, but since I read all the comments in this thread and helped me I will post here.

I applied on October 2021 some of you know kearny usps had a problem with the roof and there were delays with the mail.  I thought I lost my package, I was stressing because My only court disposition certified was there.  Went to court and they never gave me another one except for the expungement.  So Def there was stress there.  I received an update that the package was delivered and NOA November 01, 2021.  Bio for November 30, 2021.  I didn't pay attention to the estimate, but I think it said like 15 months if im not mistaken.

Last week of may I received an update that the interview was schedule for july 12, 2022.

So last week I reserved a parking with an app (spothero)  for the parking next to the building 1000 broad st.  The app said to scan the  barcode, there was no scanner and no one there.  So I had to press for a ticket and the gate open.  And to come out you come out via orchard st.  And there was a machine to pay the ticket, which came out to $21.  So Im not even mad at spot hero at this point. I will take the L but If I had to do it again I wouldn't use spot hero and just go there, because it was cheaper paying cash.

Went to the building and up to 15th floor waited like 2 hours 30 mins and I was called to approach a door.  The interviewer asked me for my green card and passport.  Then the standard questions.

    Who was the fist president?

What is one duty as a citizen?

What are the first 3 words.....?

    Capital of New jersey?

    A war in the 1800's?

And I forgot  the other one but I think it was a right of a citizen.

Then read a sentence,  What is the largest state of the US.  and write Alaska is the largest state.

Then the standard yes and no questions, file taxes or if I owe any money.  Have I ever been arrested and If I submitted the court disposition, which I did.  He checked that, told me to check if the info was correct on the tablet and said I was approved.

Some people that were approved will have their oath ceremony at another place next week.   From what I heard a lawyer telling a couple of her clients, I think it was like a special oath ceremony if they were from that county they were likely going to do it there.

As my journey ends here, I want to thank the people of this website and forums that wrote their experiences.  And to @sandranj the lawyer at the Vawa forum, I read her responses to the vawa recipients and realize that there are still some good lawyers that care.   And that's how my  journey on this forum began.  I filed everything myself from Vawa to 485 to n400.

(tips that helped reading this forum and listen on spotify n400 questions).   Eat a good breakfast because you are likely going to be there for a while.

  2. So I guess I am part of this club, well I was one of the unlucky october nj filers who had to suffer a delay because of a roof at usps collapsing. After thinking my package was lost, I finally received an update that my mail was at the uscis location.  So it finally was accepted November 1, 2021.   Biometrics for 11/30/2021.

I receive an update the last week of May and it was about the interview for July 12 at Newark, NJ.  The interview went well and I was approved.  The officer just asked my for my green card and my passport.  Asked me 6 questions the standard read and write sentence.  Yes and no questions and that's it, he told me I passed and approved.

Some super fast. Congratulations it's a very rare case when we have people that had stayed for almost two years without approval. Did you put your AOS on hold before filling up your vawa? Enlighten us abit

I applied for vawa on 2016 I think the second week of september, I received an rfe for good moral character and sent it right away. I received the approval for vawa on october 31, 2017.  Then I submitted the I-485 with medical and the waiver, on november and uscis received the day before thanksgiving, so they gave me the Noa 12/04/17

Congrats ,plz tell me which one is your local office and how long you waited for interview after vawa approval

    Congrats

My local office is Newark NJ and I had my NOA on december 4 2017.  My biometrics were done january 23 and after that I had no updates.  After this thanksgiving in november I got a letter and it was for the interview.  I went to the interview december 6.  So I will say a year and a couple of days.

  5. Hi everyone.  I had my interview 2 weeks ago, they gave me the paper which stated that it had to be reviewed. The interview was short, but asked me to provide the originals, example marriage license, divorce decree, court disposition and expungement.  Birth certificate and passport.  Followed by the questions, yes/no and how we met.  I also showed some mail that I had with my ex, etc.  I was nervous, not gonna lie.  I wanted to get approved on the spot but I saw that not everyone gets approved on the spot.

Yesterday I received a text, that my card was mailed.  One of the happiest days of my life and I want to thank the members of this website.  I got all the information to file from the members of this website.  Now the next step is n400 in 3 years  👍

congratulations, please can you share ur timeline and when did you file for I-485 in particular?thanks

I was approved for my i360 october 31 2017.  2 weeks after that I filed for the I-485 along with the medical and the 912.  The mail was delivered the day before thanksgiving.  My pd was december 04 and biometrics january 23.  Since then nothing until last week, the interview. letter  I didn't apply for an ead this time, since I had one as a "dreamer", It's going to expire next april. And I'm not working right now (full time student).

They ask if you are working but you don't have to show W2. Don't forget to bring your valid passport and EAD, some officers ask the EAD back. Probably they will not approve you on the spot because you have a Court Disposition because they will need some time to review your case.

Thank you Sandra, you helped many people like me, even without you realizing it.   Funny thing after I lost my faith in lawyers, you come along and make me remember there are still good ones, that actually care.

Thank you so much this was really helpful.

  7. Hi everyone, finally I got my interview letter.  My vawa was approved last year and then I filed 485.  I just want to know what to expect on the interview.  I have prepared a folder with things I already sent, my birth certificate and translated, court disposition when I was a juvenile (certified).  proofs of marriage in good faith include w2 together, lease, a bank statement and a bill from tv phone and internet. Some of her letters and photos, birth certificate.  I already submitted my medical but I will bring the copies the doctor gave me if necessary.

Do I need to bring a w2 that I received earlier this year? I filed that by myself, since we were divorced already.   Thanks in advance.

Also the 2 tools to track the case are not updated in my case, lucky me I checked my mail and found the letter.

Ok will look into that. This is from a previous state I lived at though...I’m not sure how I can get them to do a fingerprint given that I’m no longer residing in that state. Unless I travel back to get it done🤔

Check if you have one of this near you, thats where the state police sent me and i paid like 40 and they work with many states  https://www.identogo.com/services/live-scan-fingerprinting

Hello folks, I sent a request in to the local police for my police report and it was returned to me stating they need social security number to process Immigration n visa arrest letters”. I don’t have a social, can anyone shed light on this for me? Thank you

Why don't you get fingerprints, from a state police.  I sent my police report from my local police (my town) and they sent me a rfe for good moral character.  So I went and got it from the state police.

  10. HI guys, I am getting ready to send my 485 package.  Along with it the medical record I-693, I-864w , I-912 and G-325, also Im attaching the vawa approved copy along with 2 passport pictures translated birth certificate, I don't need a I-765 I have one through Daca and it expires 2019.  I took a new set of finger prints to show that I have no new criminal record (when i was a minor It was dismissed no probation or anything, and I thought it cleared automatically.  Turns out I had to expunge it and I did last year after getting the rfe).  I am sending a copy of the disposition.  Is there else anything that I am missing?.  Thanks in advance.

May I ask how long have you stayed in U.S.? I heard that if it's less than 3 years, I must have a clearance from my country. I have been in U.S. 2 years 5 months till the day i filed VAWA. waiting for uscis responses...

17 years.  Unfortunately I don't know if they will ask you for clearance of your country, Did they sent you an RFE?

Congrats! May I know what was the RFE about ?

It was the good moral, On my original package I sent the police clearance from my town, but I guess they wanted the state police.  I went got my fingerprints paid like $40.  5 days letter I received a letter with my background, funny thing is I didn't know I had a record when I was a juvenile even if it was dismissed it was showing, so I sent it and sent a letter saying it was dismissed and what happened and some record that I had from the court.  That was about it until yesterday when I received a text message.  (btw I expunged my record, my public defender told me my record was clean because it was dismissed like 10 years ago, but I guess thats not the case).

  13. Guys Im happy I got approved today for the 360.  I filed last year early september 2016 and got an rfe and mailed october 11.  I want to thank everyone on this forum.  Finally some happiness after the nightmare I went through.

Now  to start the i485 and 912 waiver, im a student full time and pay my own tuition, I will like to get it waive.  What other form do I need to send?.  Thanks in advance.

  14. Hello everyone.  I really did not want to be a part of this group.  I was ashamed and on denial, I didn't want to accept that I was a victim.  I am a male, coming from a mostly patriarch society, it was very embarrasing to tell anyone, although some already knew or suspected.

I Go a long way with USCIS.  2006 I was a minor and I was petioned by one of my parents and her usc spouse.  Went to the interview on 2007, waited for a decision till 2009 I received a denial for 485.  My mother on the other hand was still pending untill 2012, thats when she received her denial.  I was already an adult by that time.  I am a daca beneficiary.

I met my wife around 2013, we became friends.  2015 we decided to get marry.  I can say without a doubt that if I can return the clock I will not get marry, Worst decision.  I was and still struggle with anxiety/ depression.  I started going to a psychiatrist a month before getting married, until I couldn't be on my mothers health insurance, because of age.  My wife lied and said she was going to put me on her health insurance, it never happen.  I didn't want to see who she really was, there were physical and psychological assaults.  Discovered that I was cheated on the majority of the time.  I went twice to the police to document two incidents after being convinced by a friend, the first time they told me if i put a dv she was going to jail I had bruises and scratches.  I only show the police some scratches but not the bruises I have the pictures., i backed down.  Second time I went to tell them what happened, no dv was filed and no arrest.  I have the statements, also one hospital record where i went with a hurting shoulder and lie to the doctor of why it hurt, that was the first week of marriage.  I renewed my passaport and  it dissapear along with my cellphone that had more pictures of incidents, after she left along with some money that i saved for my education. i almost didn't make it that semester to school and she kept all the incometax money.  I filed for divorce and thankfully we are now divorce.

I filed for the I-360 september (a year after same month of my marriage) recevied an rfe for moral sent the state police finger prints within a week.  Since October 2016 the tracking said rfe receive they will resume working.  I received a prima facie two weeks after responding to the rfe.

Vawa,,, asking for police clearance record!!!  But police department doesn't do it, lawyer wants to submit my fingerprints to FBI then sends result back to Vermont so he can prove that I have no criminal record,,, is it accurate??  Please advise,,, thanks

Hey, idk if this helps.  But i went to get fingerprints from the Nj state police website, after i got an rfe for good moral.  And i received the results in 4 days, it costed like $40.  They sent me the rfe, even though I sent them a good moral from the police from my town.  After that I received the prima facie.
