Selma and Nermin got a reaction from guest 123 in 2017 I-485 Houston Filers
Thank you! We created 1 binder with tabs that matched the line items listed in our interview NOA letter. Line items that pertained to us, of course.

Had our interview today. The officer asked us to provide our IDs and provide joint accounts. She asked very general questions to make sure he had no bad intentions. She also did NOT ask for the new medical.
Approved on the spot

They made copies of all our ID's, including passports. Also made copies of my citizenship certification and joint account documents.

My insurance paid for a good portion of everything I did with my PCP. My medical would have been included too if I didn't have it already done that year (regular yearly checkup). We have Cigna family plan.
Not sure what a . non-immigration TB blood test is, but the civil surgeon accepted our TB results form my PCP. Make sure your PCP knows it will be sent to civil surgeon. A civil surgeon will not accept TB skin test only TB blood test.

Had our interview this morning. Went very smoothly and didn't ask for many of the things I had brought along (attaching our interview letter here). Asked for our IDs, marriage certificate, wife's passport, birth certificate, divorce decree from previous marriage, tax return, apartment lease. And asked the series of canned questions about illegal activities, etc. Didn't require a new medical (luckily, since we weren't able to get it done due to a number of circumstances). Turns out the medical exam rule changes 11/1 this year and there's now a 2-year windows instead of the previous 1-year window of validity. It's a little more complicated than that, and I didn't catch all the nuances to the rule. But net result is that most people probably won't require a new exam from now on. Didn't really ask anything about our relationship, didn't ask for pictures (which I had prepared), didn't ask for previous immigration documents or I-94, or anything regarding other children not living with us, or bank account statements, etc... none of that. Most of the documents requested had been previously submitted, and were just checked against what was already on file and he already had there in his paperwork. I think the only 2 documents he kept were the apartment lease and 2017 tax return. Interviewer was very patient (my wife needed an interpreter), courteous, and professional. We didn't get approval on the spot. The interviewer had only been on the job 4 weeks and said his supervisor would need to review for final approval. But he said he saw no reason we wouldn't be approved and should expect a letter within 30 days, with physical card to follow 5-7 days later. All-in-all a very smooth experience - better than expected.

I did my TB with my primary care physician so my insurance could cover it, then just gave the results to the civil surgeon which he then accepted. So not sure how much with TB

PD 06/17/2017 - Interview date 12/17/2018
My brother (US citizen) and sister-in-law were interviewed in Houston TX last Monday. Quick AOS from K1 interview for 15 mins, only my sister-in-law was asked for basic info with yes/no questions on I-485. Then the officer asked for some joint documents, he only took house deed with property taxes, and new car loan documents to make copies, nothing else. Then he said he had more than enough and he didn't find any problems with the interview but he couldn't approve because he just started to work recently (no name tag on his door yet.) And his supervisor needed to sign approval, we should receive it in 5 - 7 days (well they always say that so you know what's up.) Case status changed to "Interview Was Completed And Case Must Be Reviewed."

My status changed to “testing and interview” after interview scheduled. What does this mean?

The turn around time to schedule an exam is 1-2 days. They are mainly done in urgent clinics. We are currently in that process of preparing for the exam.
