    HI, I have a question;

Have you got it in the mail yet? (EAD card)

Yup. Two days after I got the card production notification via email, I got the "card being mailed" notification and a letter saying my card is on the way, and then I got the card two days later.

The SMS came a week after receipt of the physical card, so quite late.

yes that's right, but i've seen that its common in the US

As other people pointed out, it's really not a big deal in 21st Century America. They may ask you - just out of curiosity - but they won't hold it against you.

Why don't you read this to learn about what useful things to bring up/ take with you to your interview will help: http://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/free-books/fiance-marriage-visa-book/chapter14-28.html

We have our K-1 based AOS interview at the SF office next week. I am interested in hearing recent interview experiences in the SF field office.

    Also,

    - how long was the total interview?

    - what were some questions the IO asked?

    - did you get approved on the spot and/or how soon after interview did you get your GC?

    Thanks in advance!

    did you check here, buddy?

I just called USCIS again to ask about my expedite request and I was told I was already sent a request for evidence of financial loss 5 days ago. And of course I haven't received the email.

Now I need to get the info sent out asap via fax. But who even uses fax machines anymore, LOL. Oh man. Guess I'll have to stop by a UPS store or something later today and hope for the best.

I also asked about my I-485 and the representative said it's still at the NBC and looks like I won't be needing to an interview.

You should call ahead to see if the UPS store you're planning on visiting even has fax machines. I've had incredibly inconsistent experiences with UPS and FedEx/Kinko stores.

    Hey guys,

after filing online  for an inquiry yesteterday (today is day 74 )(I know it was a little too early for that), finally my AP and EAD are now approved and a new card is in production. Mysterious how USCIS works...

    To all of you:

I can say just to try all the options you have with expedite and inquiry and don't give your hopes up. Hopefully you all get approved soon. Sometimes it's just luck or your inquiry that gives them the last touch to approve it idk.

Hope you guys have a wonderful weekend :)

I'm gonna go ahead and make a controversial point about inquiries/service requests: I think it's not necessarily that filing them led to the approval of the EAD/AP docs, but that once you hit the point where you can file for a request, you're probably a few days from when they were gonna issue your EAD anyway.

Remember, boys & girls: correlation doesn't imply causation :)

I managed to distract myself for the past couple of weeks with family visitations but now have to get back on track with immigration and adjusting to living in the U.S.

I have my biometrics appointment on the 21st (Friday) for both the I-485 and I-765. Does anyone know if you need to make an additional appointment if your spouse is going to attend the appointment or not?

why would your USC spouse attend?

I'm not sure they can, so I would look up the ASC and see what their policies are/if their waiting room is open to people other than the applicant.

  7. Hi everyone,

As you can tell from my signature, I don't yet have an interview scheduled for my FBAS. However, I am guessing that sooner or later, I'll be interviewed for my marriage-based AOS.

While googling info about interview notices people received for their AOS interview, I noticed that interview notices state that you need to bring your medical form I-693, unless otherwise submitted.

Like others on this forum, I generally err on the side of being overly cautious and bringing more rather than fewer supporting documents to my interview. However, I already sent out my I-693 as it was required for the I-485 form. I also don't have a copy of it as it was in a sealed envelope, and my doctor didn't provide me with a copy.

For those of you who already had their marriage-based AOS interviews, did you bring a copy of your I-693, or did you not, as you already submitted it with your I-485? if you did bring it, was it a copy from the civil surgeon who originally did your exam, or a new I-693 you had done just in case?

    Thanks for your replies.

This site has helped us from the very start so I thought I would come here for help. My husband's Visa from Canada was approved May 17th, 2016. We waited and waited for his Green Cards to arrive. We have made many inquiries and have been told that it is being processed. That's it, just that it's being processed. We have had 2 appointments at the local USCIS office and they are as baffled as we are. We were told that it's an electronic file so there really isn't anyone to speak with directly. Today's visit she added comments and sent an email but she does not know if an actual person will see it. She recommended that I go to the USCIS site and file an inquiry under "Outside Normal Processing Time" I went to do this and filled in all the info, but it's asking for a form number at the top that matches our receipt number. There must be 25 form #'s and none seem to be what they are looking for. I am really getting frustrated that no one can direct us to a human to help!

Have you considered writing to your Congressperson to see if they can help you? I've heard that some people on VJ have had  luck with that in the past.

If you are about to file the I-751 to remove condition on your 2 years green card, then you have at least another year before you qualify to file for US citizenship as the spouse of a US citizen under the 3 years rule.  Since you got your green card on May 13, 2015, you do not qualify to file for naturalization under the 3 years rule until Feb 13, 2018.

If you leave the US for 6-12 months, you will not meet the physical presence requirement for US citizenship.

Review the requirements for US citizenship, there are several different requirements.

    What s/he said.

I have been wanting to expedite my husband EAD so bad! Not sure how to though since he does not have a job offer.  We bought a car yesterday for uber and he is signed up for Uber and Lyft.  We just waiting on the EAD to complete the process.  My husband needs to start working so bad! :(

You don't have to have a job offer to expedite your EAD, but it can help.

Any advice on how to get to a real person on the helpline? I can't get passed the automated part and I want to inquire about our AP ... received a NOA, but still can't get an update online and it's been just over a month! I can view EAD & AOS online.

    Press 1, then 2, then 2, then 2

I'm wondering if I should call and ask to make sure they didn't "misplace" my request to expedite EAD. I can wait for the GC as long as they want, but this damn EAD... I'm assuming I won't hear about it until after biometrics appointment, but I'd like to know if I should prepare myself, my employer, and my budget for being out of job for a month :/ I hate waiting, and as every control freak hate being helpless.  I'll wait until I get my paper NOA in mail and call them I think.

They totally misplaced my request for an expedite when I did one for my OPT. I wouldn't have your company call as it should be you, your counsel, or sponsor (either your spouse, for FBAS, or your company, for work visas/GCs) - but I expect that the USCIS won't wanna talk to your employer as they're not related to your overall AOS petition. They may be related to your argument that your not working causes "financial loss", or whichever argument you're planning to use, but I think it'll only be useful if you were to call yourself and explain how your lack of EAD hurts you and your food bank, is it?

Just received the paper NOAs for my I-765 and I-485. However, my Alien Registration Number has changed!!! Is this normal???

Hey Emily, this happens. Happened to me in the past while on different visas, but it never caused me any trouble. Some other people on this forum disagree and advise that you contact the USCIS to check in about why they changed it, and if you can add the old Alien Number to your file. I'm not a lawyer, so I'm not gonna comment about whether this is useful or not, but it probably can't hurt to call them about it.

Decided to join the February filers a little late after double checking all my dates. Sent off late February, got my NOA's on the 7th of March but online it shows the 27th of February so I'll go by that instead since that's what USCIS seems to go by.

Had my biometrics appointment on the 30th of March and since then no status change yet.

I'm on the same boat as you. Received my original NOA in late February but had to resend with the correct fees. Online, it doesn't say 3/5 but 2/24, so I'll watch both the February and March thread.

Biometrics on the 30th, too - hoping to get some sort of status change. Would really like to know when my interview is - I fear it'll be when my sister-in-law gets married :-/

I honestly have no idea too lol. she wanted to get the state health insurance just in case our private insurance doesn't cover certain things during pregnancy. I will not be applying for it as i do not qualify for it  anyway.

    Thanks for your input

You mean I-864, btw, not I-865, I think.

As long as her income or hers + that of your sponsor is adequate and amply supported with tax transcripts, a letter of employment or past pay stubs, it's fine for her to use whatever government benefits/subsidies she legally qualifies for.
