Ok so, my daughter went in on nov 2 to talk to an agent. The agent informed her that a new letter will be sent out and wouldn’t get her a time frame on when the letter will arrive. (Agent also said she will get a biometric letter too sometime) The agent did not stamp her passport or take her green card. Even though she told them her card is going to expire... she shrugged and said to wait. It worries me is her card expires on nov 23. She wants to go back to Canada for holiday  (dec 15th) to see her old friends. To this day she hasn’t received anything in the mail nor have I️. The agent told her briefly  about how they mixed up my daughters and my paperwork by merging them together.

We are unsure of exactly what she meant.

Today, my daughter called in to the hotline to ask for a timeframe for when the letter should arrive. The man told her it takes about 30 days. He told her that since I’m the applicant(The mother), she my daughter, may not even get her own 797 letter/biometrics. She told them other people’s experience and he didn’t care. He told her that he could transfer the call to tier 2 but I️ would have to be on the phone also. I’m currently out of the country and we can’t do a 3 way call.

    What should she do?

Should she walk in right when the USCIS tomorrow right at 7 am to request for a stamp on her passport.

    Should she just wait?

Should she reapply on her own application and pay 400~ plus the 85 biometric fee.

We were thinking of photocopying everything and writing a letter explaining the situation just for a response.

Should I️ just reapply again? With the letter explaining everything

sorry the i’s are glitching on the iPhone

Well.... I believe the situation you've described above is just another example of  how much stress  an ignorant agent and incompetent Customer Service representative can put on you...

I won't comment that it was not "us' who created Part. 5 in I-751 for a dependent..  I also leave alone a question WHY it is so difficult to issue an Extension Letter for a dependent - a lot of them have to drive, go to school, work, travel and  etc..

What the "agent" said about your daughter may not be getting her own biometric - is completely incorrect as well. As soon as I-751 is received by USCIS, a dependent gets his/her own case#, and it's indicated on Biometric appointment Letter, not on NOA1

Anyway, what you should do now is:

    1. Make an Infopas appointment to get your girl's passport stamped - they won't do it without an appointment scheduled.

A lot of people, who have a dependent in I-751, are in the same boat - they were told another NOA1 is on its way, but they have never gotten that. And ended up, getting a I-551 stamp in kid's passport.

    2. You, most likely, have to go with her.... I was with my son  and they looked at my I-797(extension Letter) before they stamped son's passport. Plus she is under 18, so I believe you are required  to be there with her.

BTW, when I called and got on hold a Tier 2, he asked me to have my son connected to our conversation. My son is over 18 and although I am an applicant, he is a dependent, the IO still needed son's "permission" to release the info i requested about his NOA1 and bio.

So, I guess, it works both ways - a kid is UNDER 18 cannot get any info without a principal applicant, and principal applicant cannot get anything as well if a dependent is OVER 18..

Why are you saying $400 + bio fee?  I-751 fee is $595.00 plus $85.00 biometric fee...

Anyways - your daughter doesn't have to re-apply .  You paid $765.00 (595.00+85.0+85.0) with original submission, right?...  It should be indicated on your Extension Letter as well. If that's correct, your girl is already on your I-751, in part 5, as a dependent. So, no, no re-submission.

Also, she shouldn't leave the country without an Extension Letter or I-551 stamp. She, most likely, won't be able to make it back. I am not talking about US Custom - it's about other country. They are unaware of your daughter's status in the US, and she doesn't have any proof of that, so she can be easily denied boarding.

Hope you'll make it back to the US before she wants to travel...

When you go for your Infopass appointment, take your NOA1 with you, ID, girl''s ID, passport, and green cards. Remember  her green card can be kept in exchange for a stamp, so you should make a copy of her green card before you go..

P.S. Sorry you facing all of that... It's frustrating, I know. I can't even tell how many times I've heard incorrect info form different Service Line representatives..until I got this "NOA1/biometric for a dependent thing" solved...  I got lucky and had a chance to speak with someone really knowlegable.. In your case I'd just quit calling.  Make an Infopass appointment. Her green card is almost expired, and they cannot ignore it if she doesn't have her NOA1 by that time.

I've already mentioned this before, but ready to repeat - sometimes i think it would be much better, if we had to file a separate I-751 for a child.. Yes, it would cost more, but definitely we would face less stress and wouldn't experience all these "inconveniences"...

Hope, you'll get your child's passport stamp before she wants to travel..

    Wish you all the best!!

How did it end for the you all! I am in the same boat. My daughter was mentioned as a dependent on my I 751 and she got her separate I 797 and a receipt number. I got my biometric appointment but she never got any. After 15 months since applying for ROC my I 751 was approved and there was no trace of her application . I was told by the local office that if they had her file they would have approved it but since they are not in possession of her file - asked me to call USCIS.

Great news congratulations! I’m still waiting for my interview notice I’m in Lawrence too. I’m stuck in Biometrics reuse now. I don’t know if that’s possible to answer but did it feel like things are.m moving fast there? Was there lot of applicants? I applied in March

Thank you for sharing your Lawrence experience!! Good luck for your daughter.

    Thanks for good luck wishes.

Lawrence office looked like a well oiled machine. Constant trickle of applicants. No one had to wait too much for their interviews. I guess they avaeraged 90 minutes for everyone - from the time they walkin to the time they walk out after the oath ceremony. Lawrence is bundling 6 applicants into an oath ceremony.

In fact the officer assigned to conduct my interviews did his best to get a word on my daughter's status - reached out to people and made calls.

So I would say, Lawrence is working efficiently.

You should be getting an interview soon - I think it took about 2-3 weeks for me to get an interview date after receiving the bio-metric reuse letter. Good luck.

  3. I had my combo interview today. I received an email sometime last week informing me to bring my spouse with me for the I751 interview. We were asked some basic questions about our relationship - where did you meet, when did you meet, each other's date of birth, place of marriage, how big was the wedding, what activities the two of us do together etc. The I 751 was approved then N400 interview was conducted. Civics test, followed up by reading and writing test then few more questions from the information on the application. It was approved too.

Lawrence MA is conducting same day oath ceremony and 90 minutes after I walked in the USCIS building I left as an US Citizen. Phew... it comes to an end for me.

But I filed for my daughter as my dependent and if her file was at the Field Office her I751 would have been approved too. For no reason, she hasn't received even her bio metric appointment and now it is back to calling USCIS and try to reason with them.

I filed I-751 April 2019 and the NOA was issued 28th April 2019. I did my biometrics in May 2019 but the MY USCIS account did not show after "The case was received..." I applied for N 400 in March 2020 and last week received the email that the interview for N 400 was scheduled.

I called USCIS wanting to know the status of my I-751 and was told that the agent sees that the case was received and nothing else. She said that the case is active. I then mentioned about N 400 interview and she said "Yes I see the interview has been scheduled for Sep 23 2020 for N400". I then proceeded to ask if there are any chances that the I-751 interview could happen at the same time. Then she says " yes the I-751 interview has been scheduled too - same day same time same place"!

I don't know why she did not tell me that in the first place when i asked for the status update on my I-751!

Well, I applied for my daughter as my dependent and she received her own Receipt# and hasn't even received a bio-metric appointment. And USCIS jus quotes rules to me.

That is that on my MSC#. Fingers crossed.

Congrats and thank you for sharing! May I ask how did you first know about the interview, did you receive an email notification? Did they upload a letter online? I’m also in Lawrence but nothing yet.

I received an email that progress has been made on my account. I checked my account and the status had changed to "we scheduled an interview...". The interview letter popped up in the documents tab after 2 day. In the mean time I had called USCIS and knew the date of interview. That is when I came to know that my I-751 interview also has been scheduled for the same day same time same place.

Have you completed the biometrics for N-400 yet ? What was the status that is currently showing for your N-400 ??

They mailed me the receipt for N-400 on 03/19/2020 and I received it on 03/24/2020. The status on the site is about the background check, bio-metric appointment etc. I haven't received the bio-metric appointment yet.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I hope the wait ends soon for all of us. If you don't mind can you share the links to the two websites you're referring to. I want to make sure I'm not missing out on any important information.

https://myaccount.uscis.dhs.gov/   is the new site, need to create an account.

    https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/logon.do is the old one.

  12. Applied for ROC for me and my dependent daughter, NOA date of 05/02/2019. Did bio-metrics for myself on 05/16/2019. Never received a bio-metric appointment for my daughter. Receipt number comes as invalid on the old site and the new one only has "Case received" message. It never updated to bio-metrics received etc. Repeated calls to USCIS gave no explanation for why my daughter never received a bio-metric appointment as of date and if she even needs them.

Applied my N-400 with priority date of 03/19/2020. This one shows on both the new and old sites. Hopefully it will have some movement I-751 too.

    Wait continues...

We did receive a separate I-797, extension letter for her!

I included my daughter as my dependent on my i-751 and we received separate receipts from USCIS. I am able to see the status of my Receipt# on myUSCIS but unable to check my daughter's status with her receipt#. Does anybody have any ideas on how I can see her status?
