    GC Interview - question

Two days ago I received notification that my interview was scheduled. I was quite surprised how quick they did it given that just 1,5 months ago I received EAD+AP card.

I was going to renew my passport before Christmas, since we are flying to visit my family back to my home country (passport expires in April 2019).

QUESTION:  Can I bring the copy of my passport for the interview?  I know it sounds silly but I thought I will ask you...

Nevermind, I just realized I will keep my old passport until I get a new one.

Sorry I'm not able to give a more clear answer, but is there any way you can renew it online?  My husband was able to renew his online because it was expiring just a few months after we got married, and the whole renewal process took about 2-3 weeks to get his new passport.  If you are able to renew online, just be sure to send it by trackable courier (FedEx) and ensure that the renewal includes a return of your original passport with your original visa in it.  I can't recall if it was the DMV that required the original visa or if it was the Social Security office when he applied for his SSN, but one of the two needed to see the original visa to verify he was who he said he was.

My embassy requires applying in person plus I changed my last name and here is a problem - changing my last name in my home country and then applying for a new passport... Not sure what is gonna be cheaper apply here for a new passport or stay buy a new plane ticket, stay 2 more weeks in my home country and apply for it there.

You should definitely schedule an Infopass at your local office to inquire about your EAD, call and speak to a tier 2 officer, send a request to the ombudsman and also get help from your Congressman/Senator because you are totally out of processing times.

Sorry for the long wait, and good luck!

I am in touch with my Congressman's office, they helped me a lot! They told me to wait 60 days to hear back from USCIS from the day they got my RFE reply. Before that they can't do anything 😮

  5. UPDATE on our case:

After 5 months of waiting I was able to contact Congressman's office. Either they actually helped a lot or it was a miracle that they looked into our case around the same time, 2 weeks after I reached them. We got RFIE in the end of March (SO LATE!) the letter didn't come, because there wasn't my name on my mail box. Finally thorough congressman office I received RFIE and was able to collect missing docs regarding Affidavit of Support. We sent the package last Saturday and I know National Benefit Center received it yesterday.

Today is my 200 day since I applied for AOS! Fingers crossed that they will check my package and will receive essential EAD+AP docs really soon.... :-)

  6. How long have you waited for RFE letter? I received online notification about RFE last friday (Mar 20), on monday I got an email - informed delivery - with letters from USCIS. I have never received them...  and I am getting worried.  I went to the post office but they just told me there is no tracking numbers on these letters so they are not able to track them, so basically I have to wait. I am concerned that USPS sent it back to the USCIS :(((((((((

God, I am desperate, the apps just told me that a RFE have been sent today 😩

I haven't gotten RFE yet but I expect it. Congressman's office told me if I got RFE then it will delay processing 4 - 6 weeks... :(  Not sure what to believe anymore

Update on my work permit situation:

+150 days and counting on my I-765, yesterday my moter in law sent an email to our congressperson (or senator) and today I sent an complaint form to our Ombudsman office.

    Hope to receive answers soon.

Good luck! Did exactly the same... also +150 days

  8. Day 138. I’ve just spent couple min on August AOS fillers forum and it just made me so sad and dissapointed, even more than I already was.  People who applied in August wait for +200 days(!!!).

I recently contacted my congressman’s office, here is her response:

„If your application is beyond normal processing times based on the dates listed under ‘Processing Cases as of Date’ at the USCIS Service Center listed here, https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processTimesDisplayInit.do, I am happy to make an inquiry.

So I have to wait at least 2 more weeks for her help.
