  1. Is anyone still at "Fingerprints fee received" for I-485? I'm curious (read: panicking) if I'm the only one among April filers left with the said status.

Also, since this is for the I-485, there's no way I can raise a service request. And there's no point in calling them, since our local office is processing cases from Sept 2016. However, I was expecting the status would change to 'case ready to be scheduled for interview'. I'm debating whether I should do an infoPass or just forget obsessing about it. It will happen when it happens. :(

    Interview complete!

We had our interview in DC/NOVA on Day 262. The interviewer mainly asked about our dating life. We were in a long distance relationship most of the time since iI was doing my PhD in a different state. He asked if I had supporting documents showing our travels and communications. I said I did not, but most of those records were in either email or logs and could be printed if needed. It took about 45 minutes but there was a lot of silence while the he took notes. He also asked us to repeat a lot so he could write it. He said he wanted the any supporting docs at  the end. So when he requested I handed over pictures (collages printed on paper), joint tax return,  join bank statement, beneficiary doc, most recent pay stubs, and flight tickets from our most recent trip. At the end he said we should see a status change online in 2-3 weeks.

Day 270 Online Status change - New card is being produced!

Congratulations! We are in the same situation. I was concerned how they treat people with long distance relationships (I also go to grad school in a state different than that of our primary residence). But your experience has eased my worries. Thank you for sharing! :)

Hi everyone! I haven't been on here since forever. How's everyone doing? Congrats to everyone who got approved!

I am an April filer too. I had my biometrics in May. Since then until today, there was no change on my application status online. I have been very busy so I wasn't really checking my application on a regular basis.

Today, I came home from my clinicals, I checked my mail as I normally do. I got 4 mails from USCIS. I was shaking and couldn't explain how I felt reaching for the mails. First 2 mails, I checked if there were cards inside, nothing. Now I wanna cry because in my mind I thought I got an RFE or worse denied! When I checked the other 2, there was something in there. I opened them immediately. Surprise surprise! GC and Combo card! I opened the first 2 mails and they were  the AOS and AP approval notice. I was so surprised, shocked, I was teary eyed, I couldn't believe it. NO RFE, no Interview! I did not get the EAD approval notice, no update online on all my applications, no interview waived notice. I find it weird. But  weird things happen everyday so I guess I just have to be thankful I am done with immigration..for now. I got the old GC & Combo card design.

Best luck to everyone who is going to have their interview soon and to those who are still waiting. Hang in there guys, you'll get yours soon.

Wow, what a surprise! Many congratulations! Time to party!

@strider4 hi thanks! will do.:D here's the funny thing. the status updates just popped up at exactly 5pm today alongside with the text updates like 5 at the same time! hopefully it did cause what if it got lost in the mail and no online status update? that'll be more stress on us right?

@cyanmavi hi thanks! thanks for the heads up! :)im sorry i need to make a clarification on that. it should be i have not filed the i693 form instead of i did not include etc...i believe if my medical is within 1 year then its not yet expired so im good. i am aware though that not all(from what ive read) IO are aware of this. so im crossing fingers. will update you guys too how the interview will go:D

@McBen hi thanks! oh so i shouldve raised that concern when i made an infopass...totally forgot about it cause i was thinking ead/ap will not move unless the bio's done so i didnt pay much attention to it...what will happen if the GC comes before the ead/ap? thanks!

@lovewins2016 hi! thanks. i know thats why i was thinking when i received it in the mail yesterday. i did checked my online status but nada...but guess what, today at 5pm, i received 5 texts all at once. then i checked my online status, it changed! it said as of August 10, we scheduled your interview on sept 13 etc.... see, what if it gets lost in the mail and the online updates are late...that'll be so stressful on our side...yea i understand about the i693...i hope the IO that is assigned to my case knows about the validity:blink: crossing fingers and toes until the interview for that:D

@papasmf thanks! thats what i was thinking too about the i693...i shouldve received rfe for it but i didnt so i guess its a go :D regarding the ead/ap, it totally slipped my mind. i thought it aint gonna move unless the bios not done. so im doing the sr. thanks:D wait, what happens when the GC comes first before ead/ap?

thanks everyone! weeww...we're all in this together....almost there almost there....

Pheww! That's a relief; their system seems to be fixed... for now :P

@MAYNYCFiler2017 That's good! I am hoping that you receive your card any day this week.

@OBGYNKENOBI Congratulations on your case's progress! I am somewhat bothered by the fact that your online status did not change to "Interview is Scheduled." It is scary that aside from the physical letter, there's no other indication that your case is already scheduled for an interview. 😖 What if the letter did not arrive and the online status did not change at all? 😖 But anyways, good thing you got yours. 👍🏼

As for the I-693, if your K-1 medical and DS-3025 (vaccination worksheet) are still within 1 year at the time of your interview, then I think you should be fine. A word of caution though: there are posts claiming that not all IOs are aware of this. 😔

@lovewins2016 I was thinking the same. It is indeed scary, specially since USPS is not reliable at all. We have lost a couple of important IRS notices so it worries me.

@OBGYNKENOBI Congrats! Finally after a long long wait, there's good news! :D Good luck for the interview and keep us posted. :)

Wow! Thank you for letting me know! Our case was received mid-April so I guess we may still need to wait another 2 weeks before raising a stink with USCIS/congressman. For those of you who don't know, you can access the page mentioned by @atticus2017 here: https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processTimesDisplayInit.do. Be sure to click on the "NBC" button!

Hmm. Are you certain you've exceeded 75 days? I use timeanddate.com to perform date calculations since I'm lazy. Haha.

I got my combo card approved within 90 days. I wasn't sure if I-485 has similar timeframe after which one is able to file a SR (I couldn't find anything online). But ehh I guess I'll wait.

Goodnight fellow filers on Aug 4th my case status was updated to New Card in Production. Can you guys share ur person experience. How long does it takes before my status change again to card mailed? Getting anxious!! Thank u all

It takes approximately 5 business days after the online status update (please refer to my signature). I received my NOA2 a couple of days before the card. No worries, if you haven't received your approval notice. My mum-in-law had her status changed to 'AP document produced' on Friday last week and she received both NOA2 and the actual document today. It's hard to predict how their system works. :jest:

It was a good appointment and I feel better about where our case stands...but we're still waiting. An Infopass appointment couldn't hurt BUT it seems like it's very difficult to get one in big cities, including here in Philly. YMMV, especially in a smaller city.

Glad this helped! I can thank a lot of folks here on VJ who had already listed good questions to ask. Feel free to use my experience as a template for your conversation on Monday. With regard to your SR: you can see the status if you log in to your USCIS account. The result of our SR was e-mailed to us. PM me if you have further questions about your specific SR.

Happy to help! Our I-485 status is still at the "fingerprints" stage, which is annoying considering it's essentially ready to be scheduled for an interview. But I digress.

AFAIK, there is no set adjudication timeline/goal for AOS like there is for EAD/AP. Check the current processing times for NBC/MSC and your local office to get a ballpark estimate. To give you an idea, the Philly office is currently working on I-485 cases from about 7 months ago. Hope that helps!

Thanks! That's true. I guess we just have to play the waiting game for god knows how long.

    @Flower1 & @A+S

Its always nice to see you two talking and keeping each others' morale up! this is what VJ is all about, its almost like a buddy system in school lol so that you wont get lost... :D

BTW sometimes the status doesnt even change from card is being produced, I currently have a priority mail on the way to me from the USCIS Corbin KY CPF or Card Production Facility and it should be here today(hopefully its my GC), I know about it coz of USPS informed delivery and myusps and my status still says card is being produced... Fingers crossed and hopefully I will have GC in hand before end of day today... Best of luck with the rest of your process!

I think you should put in an SR about that @strider4 coz it does seem that some people at least have gotten that status change and 120 days is too long to go without a status change and i don't think you have anything to lose with filing an SR... Best of luck with your process...

Thanks! I tried raising an SR but it didn't let me submit the form as it's considered under processing time. lol.

Anyway, many many congratulations on receiving the green card today!

Below is a quick summary of today's trip to our local USCIS office in Philadelphia for an Infopass appointment. The main concern was my wife's EAD/AP card being past the usual 90 day processing time frame. I've collapsed the summary into a "spoiler" section since it's a little long and some people might not want to read the whole thing.

    So, here goes:

      Reveal hidden contents
    • We arrived right at 1:00 PM for our 1:15 PM appointment, which was good since the registration window didn't reopen until after the ISO's finish their lunch breaks at 1:00 PM.
    • We went through airport-style security although we didn't have to take off our shoes. :)
    • The guy at the registration window (#1) was pleasant and helpful although all he did was ask us about our reason for visiting and assigned us a number. (Side note: I thought we already supplied this information when we made the appointment.)
    • We went back and sat down. We were called up about 5 minutes later and approached ISO Benedict's window. He was easy to talk with although not particularly chatty or jovial. Par for the course?
    • I explained our concern that my wife's application was received on April 13 with no further notices (beyond biometrics appointment on May 26 and SR response on August 7). He was able to tell me that my wife's EAD/AP application was in front of an officer as of August 8. Her interview was also in queue to be scheduled as of July 28. I told him that she's a K1 adjuster and was curious to know if the interview had been waived at this point. He said there was nothing on his screen showing one way or another.
    • He also mentioned that the "new administration" is causing lots of people to apply for various immigration benefits which is causing a backlog. (Not sure I believe that one, but I figured people here would be interested in hearing this.)
    • Here's something interesting I learned: because my wife applied for an EAD/AP combo card, the ISO said that both applications must be adjudicated together. (Sounds to me like another silly excuse for processing to take longer.)
    • I asked whether our case was being held up by something like an FBI Name Check, background check, etc. and he was able to tell me that "no derogatory information" was associated with our file. So that's good to know, at least!
    • He started talking about going down the expedite route and I asked what options we had. The reasons include financial hardship, humanitarian concerns, or a pending job offer. Unfortunately, my wife can't claim any of these. I asked whether it would make sense to bother with that at this point since her case is already in the hands of an adjudicator. He agreed that it probably wouldn't speed things up at this point.
    • He said that we should wait another 30 days before contacting USCIS. If we hear nothing, he encouraged us to make another Infopass appointment and skip the other channels. And here's the kicker: he specifically said to avoid calling the (mis-)information line/customer service!
    • Overall this was a productive visit, although I walked out the same way I walked in...we still need to wait. :(
    • We were out the door by 2 pm and made our way to the grocery store to grab some hot peppers and Thai basil for dinner tonight!

    That's it!

If this post was helpful, please show some love by clicking the ♥ heart button. Thank you! :D

Thank you for posting a detailed overview! :) Is the status on the I-485 at 'fingerprints fee was received' or is it 'ready to be scheduled for interview'?

This question is for all fellow posters: I'm wondering if I could do an infopass for my I-485 still stuck at 'fingerprint fee received' for more than 4 months now. Since EAD/AP cases are expected to be adjudicated by the 90-day mark, is there such a timeframe for the I-485 cases such as 6 months or so? I know it depends on the local field office processing times that they use to determine whether the case is outside processing times, but can we inquire about our I-485 after a certain time?

As evident by my recent posts, I'm beginning to get more anxious.

  9. Congrats to all those who have received their EADs, scheduled for interviews and received their green cards. It's encouraging to see April filers making progress. :)

I had a question for all those waiting for their I-485 online status to change (for those of you who don't have interview dates yet): is there anyone still at "fingerprint fee received" or do all of you have it changed to "case ready to be scheduled for interview" ? I'm still on the former stage and it's past 120 days. :clock:

All done... Interview went very smoothly... IO came out and called my name, he was not smiling but professional and polite, took us into his office and swore us in... then he went through our full names and date of births and address... then he went through the questions on my i-485... then he asked my wife where we had met and around what date... then he asked if it was both of our first marriage and we said yes, then he asked if either one of us had kids and we said no then he asked who are the kids in those photos and i was pleasantly surprised that he had actually personally looked through the pictures and i said those where her niece and nephew... then he asked if we had any extra evidence we want to submit and i gave him our wedding album and my sealed medical form... he said we did a background check and everything looks great that your marriage is bonafide and your green card is approved!!! he then went to get some copies of some of the pics from the wedding album (we had already submitted close to 38 pics with the application) and then he said you will get the card within two weeks and explained ROC and naturalization... then he asked us if we had any questions and we said no and he lead us out... hurraay!!! i hated that we were all tensed up as  the interview appointment letter had mentioned a long list of things to bring to the interview and we hadn't gotten an employment letter from her boss and didn't have the most recent pay stubs but he didn't even ask about them... so i guess this process is finally over for now... thanks to every single one of you who has read my posts and answered my questions and been a part of my journey, you guys made it easier for me... thank you...

P.S. I'm kind of worried that i haven't gotten an update on my status online yet, interview was at 1:30 PM and now its 12 30 in thew morning and no update yet... I am gonna post this same comment on the March, April and May 2017 topics as there are people on each who have supported me through this process...

Congrats! :D Time to celebrate!

Thank you @strider4! How long did it take from card production to card mailed??

Here's my timeline for the EAD/AP:

EAD card being produced (online status change): June 29, 2017

    NOA2 (approval notice) received for EAD/AP: July 03, 2017

EAD card mailed to me (online status change): July 05, 2017

EAD/AP combo card in hand: July 08, 2017

You might get yours soon as there's no holiday coming up during these next few days (I had July 4th in the middle of all this).

New card being produced!!!!! Finally after 113 days from PD. I have a question guys, do they automatically produce a combo card? I applied for I 131 as well but didn't get any update. And also, how long is the wait from card beindg produced to card was mailed?? Thank you!!

Congratulations!  Yes, you'll receive the combo card if you applied at the same time, as mentioned by another poster. My I-131 is still at "case received" although I received the approval notices for both EAD and AP, and subsequently the combo card a few weeks back. :D

    Hi,

We applied last year concurrently filing. My husband was on an F1. Our PD (application date) is Nov. 21 2016. Did biometrics right before the New Year. He received EAD/AP combo card at the end of Feb 2017 ( that goes through the Nebraska Service Center).

The local office schedules the interview. Ours is in northern Virginia. We received our interview notice 2nd week of July 2017. Interview will be 2nd week of August 2017. Patience lots of patience.

Good luck for the interview! Please keep us posted! :) Indeed, it is going to require a lot of patience. I see that K-1s are getting their interviews relatively sooner than we can expect ours (as J-1s and F-1s). Perhaps they have recently been through thorough background checks which saves them time compared to how we got our student visa some time back and maybe student visas don't entail rigorous background checks as that of the K-1 process. My two cents; I'm just putting forth theories while I wait, to let my sanity prevail. :jest:

    Where can I check that?

Nope. Our case was on hold since April 24th because we got an RFIE that never showed up in the mail. We got an infopass and got the letter finally and mailed in our response earlier this month. So yeah, I'm not gonna bother with the EAD/AP with the interview only a month away.

Hehe yeah...we're especially happy since nothing was happening with our case between April 24th - July 11th (when they received the response to the RFIE)

The priority date should be under your 'receipt number' on your NOA1. Lol yes, there's no point to pursue the EAD/AP case now. Good luck and please do post your interview experience. Good luck! :)

    Hi guys,

On June 19 our case was ready to be scheduled for an interview and today, July 27th, it says our interview is scheduled for August 30th. Does anyone know approximately when I should expect the interview notice in the mail? We've already had problems with mail not being delivered for my wife at our address so I'm being carious (an issue I'm hoping is sorted by now but who knows)

    Congratulations!

What is your PD? And if you've received your EAD/AP, may I please know when you received those, as well? :) I'm wondering if they simply don't bother with pursuing EAD/AP cases, if the interview is scheduled as soon as yours. Yes, I consider August 'soon' for April filers. :D

    Hello Friend ,

I'm adjusting from F1 too and my local office is San Francisco and it might be a while before we get ours. I think the next step should be Case is ready to scheduled for Interview or maybe you will skip this step and just have your interview scheduled. I'm patiently waiting for my interview and hopefully we all get it soon.

Yes, the bay area offices seem backlogged. I hope they update our statuses soon; I need to move on with life, we all do. :( Do you have your interview scheduled? I think I do recall asking you that in some other thread (sorry about that, my memory is failing me) :D I post frequently in the April filers thread and done a couple of posts in the Marc thread as well.

Haven't checked this in a while, but we are still stuck at the background check not being cleared as of our infopass appt in june. No interview scheduled yet, and we are at the 9 month mark since submission

I'm sorry to hear that. I'm still stuck at the "fingerprint fee received" status and don't anticipate that they'd change it anytime soon. :( What dates is your local office processing right now? Hang in there, the wait is nerve-wracking but it'll be over soon. :)

I posted this in another thread, but I promised that I will give an update, so here it comes:

We had our interview today too and we got approved, at least I think we got approved..lol. They had to wait for my oldest file o they can process everything at the same time.

We applied in March, kids received their AP in May, mine got delayed because my form was rejected. I used the same form as the kids, but it got rejected because it was the old form, kids got theirs approved though..lol.

Received my EAD in May as well and had the interview today. We had to get up at 5:00 am and we arrived a half hour before our appointment at 7:30. We didn't dress formally, decent but no fancy stuff. IO didn't ask kids any questions, we were talking about daily stuff will she was checking our files. She asked my husband about his previous divorce and asked me the age of my husband's son. Where we met and what type of visa I entered the country and the dates of entry. Where my husband is working and then she went on and asked if I can tell her my husband's full name and DOB. We had a lot of evidence with us: pictures, documents that proof a bona fide marriage but she didn't ask for any of this.

Interview was over in approximately 40 minutes in which most of the time she was reading our files on her desk. She ended the interview by saying: there are no negative things found so give it a maximum of 30 days to receive your green card.

Good luck to you all, its a nerve wracking journey and I could finally let go most of the stress after the interview.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! And congratulations! :D

    Hi Everyone!

I had my green card interview today. It went really well! We got there 30 mins early. Our appointment was at 9 and we got called in for our appointment at 9:30.

Our officer was really nice! He was cracking jokes and laughing. Our interview was short: around 10 mins. He didn't really ask us any questions about our relationship except for how we met. He also went through all the questions I had to check at the I-485 application ("Have you ever committed a crime..."). He collected our marriage certificate and the other documents we brought as proof. He said he had never seen an application processed so fast before - only 3 months! He ended the interview with saying that he'd finish up our application today and I should expect my card in the mail next week.

Just now I got a notice on my USCIS app saying my card is being produced. Yay! This was the San Jose, CA USCIS office.

Wow that's amazingly fast! Congrats! :D This is VERY encouraging, considering you had your interview in one of the bay area offices where they have a huge backlog. Additionally, the timing cannot get any better: the weekend would be worry-free at least. Celebrate it well! B-)
