  1. You must not be able to read. Who said anything about the "might of the gun"

Me, Enforce immigration! deport everybody, make it a crime,

It ALREADY is A crime, Why give criminals amnesty or make them legal? when thousands of :LEGAL imigrants are paying thousands of $$ to go about the process legally.

They are criminals by the fact that they intentionally entered the USA Illegally breaking federal laws, then continue to break federal laws by working illegally STEALINg from tax payers. There should NOt be a reward of giving them amnesty. They should be denied legalization until they return to their country of origin and serve a penalty by waiting behind everyone else who is going about the process legally. If they chose to remain in the USA Legally they can continue to drain the economy cry and complain how they "are entitiled to certain priviliages and continue working their illegal arses off for less thna minumum wage & hide in the shadows. it doesn't help anyone.

Illegal Aliens will not get sympathy from tax paying citizens. the Voters will never vote for amnesty. so unless a higher power in office decides to reform the law which will certainly be apposed by the tax paying legal citizens who will vote out of office any shmuckl you decides to legalize millions of illegal federal criminals.

you are right there is not a simple solution but illegal criminals will not get a free ride to legalization.

  2. Go into your local Home Depot, look at the absence of Illegal Day Laborers, the labor market is drying up they are leaving.

Now local Handymen who are tax paying citizens are getting more work. Wow what a concept, Americans doing jobs that Illegals do.

I speak with contractors and handymen who are busier than ever due to the fact that illegals are not as numerous as before.

Enforcement can & does happen in more ways than at the federal or govt. level.

I f we truly enforce our laws the economy will be better for it. If we cut off subsidized programs to those who are not legally in the country then we have cut off one more reason for them to stay or come here illegally in the 1st place.

Who wouldn't enter c ountry illegally that not only turns lacks enforcement of immigration laws but gives money and free services to those who are illegal, hell it is an open invitation to come in.

Come in we will not only let you stay, we will allow you to Not pay taxes, drive illegally, take free govt. services, steal Social Security numbers, Defraud the tax paying legal immigrants and citizens, we will give you free health care, tax free income, subsidized housing, food and let your children go to schools which you put not revenue into. hell sounds like a great deal to anyone.

Enforcing ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION is effective just as enforcing any other criminal behavior. I didn't say the only reason Ca. is close to bankruptcy is illegal immigration, I cited that as a major factor , which in fact it is. It is simple economics, you give handouts and free services to those who do not put into the systems the take from then not only does it hurt the economy it also encourgaes more criminal behavior. So you are correct in the fact that the enforcment of Illegal Immigration has not been that effective. A major reason is that the enforcement has not been thorough neough to cut off the pipeline of support or subisidized service these illegal criminals get, the last couple of years when the Job market has fallen hundreds of illegals have self deported, If there is no work for them or if people enforce imigration laws and do not hire them, in addition to cutting off social services to support these illegal Immirants then in turn they will be forced to leave.

Yeah, like the drug war

Keep believing everything can be resolved by the might of the gun, that'll take you really far.

And second no, it's not simple economics, this sh!t is as complicated as the reason why this country is bankrupt. get real.

You must not be able to read. Who said anything about the "might of the gun"

  3. ...... The lead singer from the Tragically Hip.

    I agree!

Some Canadian bands started out good then tanked when they went mainstream!

I used to like the barenaked ladies when i was in Winnipeg and heard them at a local pub, long before they were popular with the mainstream, now I can't stand their newer stuff.

After their hit albums Gordon & Maybe you Should Drive. BNL took a downturn.

  4. Illegal is a synonym for evil.

    No it's not.

Illegal is a synonym for unlawful.

Plenty of laws from today and from the past, have been evil. Everyone knows that.

Exactly Unlawful immigration, illegal immigration , call what you want, call it a banana it is still breaking federal laws!

Regardless if the law breakers feel the laws are unjust, it is still a law, & until it is changed it should be enforced!

those who break the law should not be rewarded, or given special treatment, those who break the law should not be given any kind of financial or other gov. subsidized support.

look at Ca. on the road to going Bankrupt. Why? well a great deal of the deficit is due to the spending and the amount of subsidized programs that Ca. Govt. throws billions $ / year into to support illegals who do not contribute to the tax base, are uninsured, and a drain on the economy and now a true threat to Americans' jobs. ( blue collar).

Now especially USA should enforce Immigration laws stronger than ever.

If you think Cali is going bankrupt because of the illegals you don't know anything, that or maybe you have been reading too much Coulter and Malkin. It's like saying that the big three are going down the drain because of them as well HA!

The solution doesn't have to come solely from the US, but from their countries of origin as well. The illegals are here, if you plan to place every single one of them in a plane back to where they came from you believe in Santa Claus as well. That's impossible. They have tried it, and have failed.

If you can come up with a serious plan to fix this mess besides proposing to "enforce" immigration, you will be my new hero. I say this because according to the feds they have been doing this all along and haven't given any good results.

    Enforce immigration...HA!

  6. Every culture has its own translation of what or who the higher power is that they believe in,

I can't say that any one cuture is correct, accurate, right or wrong. If an individual or culture feels compelled to believe a certain way, & if that belief makes them feel better or makes them a better person for their beliefs then I applaud them for dedication to what they truly believe & practice. So Long as their beliefs are not pushed upon me or neagtivly effect my family and could care less what the next person believes. If they feel they are better for it then good on them.

I persoanlly believe more along the lines of Darwin rather that God.

However, I believe in the beauty of our world and the amazing things that surround us everyday, i dont get caught up in argument s about how it is or how it all became to be, I simply enjoy it, appreciate it and share it with my children.

If I don't see scientific evidence I am not inclined to believe it.

  7. My Wife & I met in Japan in 1994, we were just friends but hang out a lot with our other friends. I immediatly liked her. She is beautiful and he rmanerisms and kind heart showed in everything she did. She was so nice to everyone she met. I returned to Ca. in 1996 her & I kept in touch sporadically through letters and occasional e-mails. I would call her every year on her brithday and send her Holiday cards, we still remained friends. each of us were in & out of relationships.

In 2003 she e-mailed me and let me know she was traveling to CA. to attend school for the summer. I was so excited after 10 + years we would be reunited! I dropped everything to make sure I could put 100% into her. We became close in a matter of days! and started dating seriously. She retruned to Japan and a month later i went to visit her, where I proposed to her off the coast of Ao Jima island in Miyazki Japan. (We found out later that the Ao-jima shrine where i prosposedto her, was buit as a shrine for lovers & those who planned to get married)

We returned to Hermosa Beach,Ca. together & married in 2004, had our first baby in March 2005, Dec. 2006 she received her 10 Year GC now have two beautiful children a 4 year daughter and a 2 year old boy.

  8. There are also other ways to show comingling of finances, joi9nt bank account is only one of them, do you have any joint utility bills?

A joint lease or tenancy? Joint filed IRS tax returns?

Not having bank info will not d=be a deal breaker at the interview, if you don't have the support evidence, be honest explain your situation to the USCIS interviewing officer.

Relax & Congrats on your interview, your almost finished.

  9. When We filed for AOS we decided to include EAD just in case it took a long time for GC to be processed since the EAD card usually is received within3-4 months from filing. GC can take 5-8 months.

We realised we probably could have waited and saved the money, but we did get the ead card in about 3 months, so my wife was able to get her SS# , Drivers liscense and open a joint account. All this was useful to present at the interviewas support documentation

with her Drivers liscense she was added onto my Auto insurance

we opened a Joint Bank Account.

& with her ss# if she needed to work she could have.

If the beneficiary won't need to be working or driving withing 6 months from filing AOS I say save the money & wait for GC. it is optional but not all that useful unless your case is complicated and may take longer than 6 months

  10. I know from expereince you can do a Walk in at your designated ASC once you have Biometrics or fingerprint noctice in hand.

You can try to Walk in at a closer ASC just be sure that if they wont accept you, you have enough time to make your Biometric/ fingerprint Appt. date 7 time at your assigned ASC or it could cause your application to be abandoned.

Going to ASC late after your set appt. date is not reccomended.

  11. We paid an attorney $2300. Filing fees were additional. I also did not know about this site; but since I was applying for AOS after being a visitor from Canada with legal entry but no proof of it, we didn't want to make any mistakes. In hind-sight, we probably could have done it on our own, with help from all the VJ'ers. Live and learn ;)

You bring up a very valid point, IF ( OP) your case is unique and requires special handling then An Attorney is the only way to go to be sure that everything is done correctly.

For those who have a very simple staright forward case then Filing by yourself is ok.

But is your benificiary does not have proof of legal entry to USA or if there are significant holes in your case or support evidence then Attorney.

Everybody has unique circumstances that may require different apporach and handling.

Evaluate your personal situation and determine the best solution based on your case.

    Good Luck.

  12. Just an update:

NOA1 received today in mail for AOS and EAD...next step Biometrics....

Congrats, the 1st NOA is always a relief it validates they have Accepted your Application and the process is moving along.

By the way Once you receive your Biometrics Appt. letter you do not neccesarily have to wait for the appt. time & Date, just show up at Biometrics with the Biometrics notice .

    Good Luck!

Ok good to know...So as long as you have that letter they'll take you? I thought you had to wait for ur given appt. time ...I am stalking the mail man daily LOL...

We discovered this by having aconflict in scheduling once got our ASC for Finger prints we showed up when they opened and we walked in so long as we have our letter they said they will take us, of course other ASC may not have the same policy but it is worth a try.

We were very proactive with our entire application process, I am not one to sit and wait. Little Anxious but never complacent.

  14. i was wondering if anyone knew how much a lawyer costs to file for AOS. thanks.

    jmillien-

It is quite expensive to have an Attorney process your AOS on top that keep in mind your case is not their only one so there is a chance that there will be some delay, I have heard more problems about delays, lost Apps & RFE's needed from people who filed through an attorney who wasn't on top of things.

There are other options that cost less and still offer the peace of mind.

    1) Prepare all your own documents ( Follow the form instructions from the USCIS web site) and Pay a one time fee to an attorney to look them over for you.

    2) Pay a Legal Document Assistant to prepare and file your forms for you that will cost probabaly 400-600.00 LDA do not offer legal Advice but they can prepare AOS applications, ensure they are fille dout correctly & filed correctly & usually they are expdiant about it.

My wife and I file ourselves we got her green card ( 10 YR) 6 months from filing total cost was just less than $1,000.00/ we filed in 2005 before rate increase.
