    Hi everyone,

i had my interview this morning in Oakland Park, Fl.
The officer was courteous and efficient and did not waste any time.
After placing me under oath and checking my green card, he asked me what i was doing as a living and a number of questions related to the n400 form to verify my address, family ties etc.. Then, if i had traveled abroad other than what i had indicated on my application.
Then i asked me if i was ready to take the test.
i was asked 5 questions (not sure in what order anymore)
#32 who is the commander in chief of the military ? #45 What are the 2 major political parties in the United States ? #46 What is the political party of the President now ? #62 Who wrote the Declaration of Independence ? #64 There were 13 original states. Name 3. Then i was asked to write : "The people elect Congress"
I don't remember the one i had to read. Total time 15mn. But the waiting time before the interview was about  1 hour.
I passed the test and my application was recommended for approval.
I'm now waiting for the oath ceremony date. This should take place in about a month, that's the estimate i got from the officer.
If somebody could update my timeline, i would be grateful.
    Good luck to all.

Following up on the attached post, I went to the USCIS office two days ago to meet the officer as he had told me to do so if I haven't heard in 3 weeks.

Tuesday: I was there at 8 am and the officer was out on home visits, so I decided to go to the place where I had been interviewed and ask to speak to a supervisor where she told me that she doesn't have time to pull my file and see what's holding it back. I left and went back in the afternoon and asked for the officer I spoke to and he wasn't there again, so I decided to go to where I was interviewed and ask to see a supervisor (hoping there's another one on duty) and there was. He took my A-number and went to check and came back to say that my case is in the right place and everything looks good and that I should just wait for the final approval.

Wednesday: I was there at 8 am (AGAIN) and the officer was not in. Spoke to the officer that receives the InfoPass requests and she said the guy was out for home visits again.

Today: I was there at 8 am and the officer was out on home visits and I went to the same officer that receives the InfoPass appointments and told her I was there yesterday and the officer was not in either. There was another officer whose desk was behind her that overheard us and told me she wants to help me because she heard me there today and yesterday. I talked to her and explained the situation and she checked the computer and said that it's held back because my file is somewhere it is not supposed to be and that she will personally go take the file and move it to get this moving but it'll take a while and I should wait for her. An hour and a half later, she gave me the name of the Section Chief and told me to go upstairs to the NY Field Office and told them I spoke to the section chief and wait there. Lo and behold, 10 minutes after I got there, an officer came out and handed me my oath letter and told me congratulations.

So, my oath ceremony is scheduled for March 16th.

My advice to anyone who is waiting is to always be up in their faces. Always show up and always push. My persistence for the last three days finally got my file moving that has been at a complete halt since October.

All the best to everyone who is still waiting!

    Well:

    1. Normal processing time is when your NOA date is after the processing date on the website here: https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processingTimesDisplay.do
Just go there and choose the Vermont service center and you'll see the date (February 15th, 2016)
    2. When you call USCIS, ask the agent to speak to a tier-2 officer. They can't deny you that!

Why go through the hassle of dealing with them on that? You applied for naturalization anyways and won't need this card more than a few months. Just don't worry about it and enjoy being done with this process.

From what I've noticed, it takes a month from the date of the approval to have the actual card.

I have not heard of that. This might be transferred to the local office for an interview. I know that everything is done at Vermont except interviews. I have no idea if that is the deal with it or not, but that is my guess.

Attempted a walk-in at the Manhattan ASC today and everything went fine up until they found out that I was scheduled at another office and they told me I can't walk-in at another ASC other the one I am scheduled (even though I remember specifically that someone here did it at the Manhattan office) and was told to go to Federal Plaza to try to change the location, or send the notice back and wait for a new one. I just left and going to go to the correct ASC on Wednesday morning.

It's worth mentioning that everyone was extra friendly, and everything was going smooth until that point.

I know someone whose N400 interview went all well and the officer asked if he had done the Selective Service or not, and gave him a "Decision can't be made" notice. He was told to call Selective Service and get his status, etc etc, and that he'll have another interview scheduled. He was placed again on "In Line for Interview" and I recommended he'd contact the Ombudsman. A couple days after he did, he got a notification that he was scheduled for an Oath Ceremony. I am not sure if it's because of the Ombudsman, but it seems so.

Hey guys I finally received my Card today. The website says it was mailed out on 3/3/2017 but I guess because it fell on a Friday, USPS didn't pick it up till Monday3/6/2017, hence the delay. I was able to obtain a tracking number from Tier 2 officer to reveal the timeline. I have decided to take a break and file for my citizenship using the 5 year rule and not the 3 year rule. I'm in no rush, the only possible fear is the current US administration can make changes to these regulations anytime  from what I have seen so far. There is no telling what to expect. I wish those still expecting their approvals good luck and those that have started their path to citizenship the best.

Yes, you can't go without an appointment because, in order to get a number, they need to check your appointment confirmation.

    Hope this has been helpful.

Hi yolkanav, I got there and took a number and waited around 30 minutes until it was my turn to see someone. But I have gone around noon.

It's pretty amusing how those officers can't seem to agree on the whole stamp ordeal. I went to the field office in NYC, and she stamped it on the spot with no questions asked. I have also filed for the N-400 because it forces them to adjudicate the case for the ROC. It also sucks that CSC get their cards within half the time we take to get it and it is pretty unfair.

It's also weird that some field offices take around 3-4 months for the whole N-400 process from start to oath ceremony, while some offices take around 8 months.

Hey, you can't just walk in. My advice is go check for appointments either really late or really early. I got mine around 5 or 6 am.

They wont take you if you walk in. When you get an appointment, they'll take your green card and stamp your passport with an I-551 stamp (green card) and its most likely going to be valid for a year that you can use at the DMV or proof of authorization for employment.
