    Hi Guys!

Unfortunately you guys will have to wait until the EAD or green card arrives.  In my case, we are from Broward.  I married my husband the day after he came into the country and had him study the book so he can take his exam as soon as possible.  He came 1/30 and he took his drivers license on 02/10.  However, it expired the day the I-94 expired.  We went back to the office with his NOA and they renewed the license for another year. Moral of the story... Timing is important and things needs to be done soon once you arrive.  =/  sorry guys.

Shayden is correct, sending those documents aren't a requirement. However, I did send a statement showing joint bank accounts, joint credit cards and my leasing contract showing the both of us and of course marriage certificate. I send a copy of marriage certificate with each application, AOS/AP/EAD. Until this day, I have not received an RFE and highly doubt I will receive one since we send enough evidence of relationship.

EAD changed to "New Card Is Being Produced" today 04/21/2017.  Took 8 days after expediting the case.  I also had spoken to the congressman.  USCIS never called and asked me for evidence. Day 63.

    AP remains the same.

I also received my husbands letter yesterday. Dated 04/21/2017 2 letters explaining that we was approved, one for AP and other for EAD.  The case changed saying that the new cards were mailed on 04/26/217 this morning.

I put in a request on 04/13 to expedite my husbands EAD/AP.  It was approved on 04/21 and on 04/26 it was mailed.  Status now shows as follows:

"On April 26, 2017, we mailed your new card for Receipt Number MSC****, to the address you gave us. If you do not receive your card by May 26, 2017, please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request to request that we send your new card to you. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address."

MyMistaLovaLova reacted to shayden10 in Health Insurance During AOS
    Hello VJers,
I recently got my EAD and have officially set a date to start work at my new job and my husband, who has previously been working a job that didn't pay nearly enough, has also found a new job and starts the same day as I do!
My husband has not had health insurance since last November and we are both currently not insured. My job offers health insurance benefits after 1 year of employment and his currently has no health benefits, though they are exploring options to offer benefits to employees one day.
My husband and I need health insurance, I was wondering if being in the AOS process will affect applying for insurance? In addition, do I not qualify for certain programs (like Medicaid or the Affordable Care Act) because of the I864? I am not sure what benefits I am disqualified from receiving as a result of that form. My husband and I need something more affordable right now, I've been in contact with multiple companies to buy insurance and we can't afford what they are quoting us.
Any experience or advice for seeking health insurance for the both of us during the AOS process would be greatly appreciated!
    Thank you!

Wow!  I am glad everything worked out. Congratulations on becoming a mommy!   I also had to pay for him to remove 3 of his wisdom tooth the second week of him arriving.  He was having these bad headaches so we when we went to the doctors, it was his wisdom teeths. Unfortunately, he does not have insurance and the one for my job is too expensive so I did not want to add him.  I also had to incur those cost and then after I had to pay for antibiotics since one of his wounds became infected.  He then dislocated his shoulder lifting weights at the gym... smh.  I must concur, I should of saved more, my husband also told me this...  but I had no idea these things will come so unexpectectly.  I am now desperate for him to start working

We expedited a renewal EAD on the basis of financial hardship with a new car purchase and cc statements and his paycheck
from his work so it is a bit different since it is a renewal but it may work for you with a job offer only since it's the initial EAD.
In our case I made a call to USCIS and the agent put in a expedited request, he said we do need a reason to base the request on and I said financial hardship. We received a letter requesting evidence for the financial hardship and to fax it to the number provided.
Since he would be a sub contractor
maybe the company can still give him a letter, not sure how Uber jobs work. Definitely worth a try.

We put in for an expedite on 4/3/17 due to financial hardships. When my husband first got here money was not a problem. Then we had a baby and baby had an emergency surgery at 2 months and I was diagnosed with multiple medical issues. Then I got hit with astronomical medical fees for both me and baby on top of husbands dental work. My deductible is $3000 per person with an out of pocket of $5500 per person. Even with a health spending account which I contributed the max our bills have been over $10,000. I lost $5500 in pay while out on maternity leave and had to pay benefits out of pocket back to employer. Savings slowly disappeared to cover everything and then catch up. We got paperwork requesting proof on 4/8/17. I faxed letter and bills over on 4/10/17 as proof. Today I got text saying card was being produced so USCIS moved pretty quickly and was understanding.

Stuff happens and everyone will go through some financial hardship sooner or later no matter how prepared you try to be.
I am glad the post of the successful expedite gives hope that USCIS understands that.

Having your SSN for your AOS package is not necessary.  You can send off your paper work without it.

How about you call the local office and ask how long does it take for them to process the marriage license so you can have a certified copy?  Because I submitted my marriage certificate and was married by the court, however, they had to get it certified by a stamp which was why I had to wait 2 weeks for it.  I would hate for you to come and get any surprises.

Thank you!  I actually was able to open a checking and savings from BOA.  Gratefully also opened a secured credit card for him with Discover Card.  Yesterday, we was able to get him a car with me as a co-signer as well.

Do you guys know if I am able to finance a car with him as the primary finance? I can be the cosigner.  He has a drivers license and a social security already, but now my parents like to make a down payment on a car and make him the primary.

If you send it again tomorrow then at least attach a copy of your German birth certificate. There's no point in sending it off without it because you likely will receive an RFIE for missing initial evidence which turns your waiting clock back to 0...
I know you repeatedly said your mom is going to send a copy to you tomorrow but the way I am understanding it is that she is going to send you a copy of it via mail which takes a week. This is why I also repeated myself before saying she should just find a way to scan it and that way you can immediately print it off which technically is a copy then. That way you immediately have the copy in hand and can send it off.
This is the last time I'm adding my 2 cents to your birth certificate problem. I feel like you are making it more complicated than it actually is. Or try what saeshhh said but I think another officer might not accept that so I would play safe and just add a copy of your foreign birth certificate just how USCIS is asking for it.

It all depends on the counselor who receives your application. In which case, everyone's case timelines vary.

Wow!  Yea, luckily I did all that before I send out the AOS.  I needed to wait for the certified marriage certificate so I figured to keep the process going.  My husband is now applying for jobs so we can get a job offer and have the EAD expedited.  Hoping for the best.

You're welcome amaada! You are absolutely correct about the case to case basis, but it does eases minds like myself to know that persons are indeed making progress somewhere, and I'm ecstatic for anyone like I would be for myself.
