You must answer yes to these questions in order to become a citizen. Unless there is a medical or documented religious objection reason why not (I.e. you are a practicing Mennonite or Quaker and war is antithetical to your religious moral code) you must say that if the law requires you to do something, you will do it.

I submitted a long cover letter (long because i made a table of all the contents/documents that i submitted with my n400 application and categorized them) but i like it that way so that's its full proof and i won't get an rfe. Hehehe. And they can't say i didn't submit whatever either. I also wrote a short 3- 5 sentence introducing my self and my journey as a k1, getting married and doing aos and then that i'm applying for n400 under ina 319b. And then anothe paragraph explaining my why i wanna apply for it and then another paragraph explaining my schedule and another asking to expedite mine. But yeah i have just had that table/chart with the entire contents in my k1 fiance visa packet and aos packet. So i continued it with my n400. The officer at my interview for my aos was very impressed with my detailed and easy packet and tabs. (I placed codes on tabs) So yeah that encouraged me so much. But its up to you if you want or not want to do a cover letter. I sent mine by mail too so it makes more sense to have a cover letter. But for those that send it in via online.. a lot of people skip that part. But for me i feel it can help your case as an intro or something.
Haha you and I are on the same wavelength! I did the same, with the introduction letter and everything! Only was disappointed that though I uploaded all my evidence numerically in the order I had put in my cover letter, in the finished application they are uploaded all jumbled...but at least they are numbered so should make it easy. Shrug.

Hey guys
About to join the September 2020 Filers. Just had a final couple of questions
1.) Did any of you submit a cover letter along with the application. I remember making a detailed cover letter for my previous visa dealings but somehow I cant seem to find a consensus that it is required or needed.
2.) I am being asked to submit Evidence about child support. I have just one child who lives with me. Is that a standard question. I was under the impression that the online form is a smart form which only asks for relevant data ( I am hoping I didn't click that my child doesn't live with me)
Thanks in advance
1) I submitted a cover letter with mine. I have done this with the K-1, AOS application, and I-751 removal of conditions. A detailed cover letter outlining every piece of evidence I had uploaded, so that there would be no question as to what I uploaded. There is no requirement to do this, which is why you won't find consensus. But if they say "you didn't submit X", I can say, "You can see it's Exhibit 7b labeled page 46 and here is the PDF in my file reflecting that."
2.) I didn't fill out the "additional evidence" or "evidence of name change" section bc they didn't apply. When yo uclick "next" it will give you the warning that failing to upload evidence may delay your case, but I think it's just a system blanket warning that if any section is left "blank" they warn you that that might not be a good idea. I was certain these didn't apply to me so I clicked next again and it lets you go onto the next page.

Filed N-400 (online / IOE receipt number) on 9/25 for my wife. We were eligible to apply in June 2020, but were expecting our first child and at 33 weeks pregnant in July my wife had severe appendicitis and a ruptured appendix!! Needless to say, after recovery from that we had our baby and, well... only just got around to applying this week, as we really wanted to make it in before the fee increase deadline! Our online receipt states estimated case completion time to be February 2021 (5 months) but I am not sure how much I trust any timeline. Her green card doesn't expire until 2030 so for the first time we aren't worried about a timeline and feel we can just sit back, relax and wait! Wishing luck to everyone else on this journey.

Today my wife was checking the USICS app for cases status update on the approx 500 cases surrounding our case number, and had the pleasant surprise of discovering her case had been approved! We are delighted and will be stalking the mail box until her new green card arrives. Our timeline is below. Good luck to everyone else still waiting!
For anyone curious, we were EAC (Vermont) and case number EAC1990118***
07/06/19 - Mailed I-751
07/08/19 - Application received by USCIS
07/10/19 - Credit card charged, NOA-1 dated
07/11/19 - Text receipt received, EAC (Vermont)
7/13/19 - Received NOA/extension letter in mail
08/03/19 - Biometrics letter received
08/14/19 - Biometrics appointment completed
08/26/19 - Case status updated to “Fingerprint Review Completed”
05/20/20 - Case status updated to "New Card is in Production"

Wowww. This is insane.
I checked all centers' wait time and it shows that the cases they are working on is pretty much the same month ( July, August, September 2018) which doesn't make sense to me because I've noticed here that in some centers they are already getting their green cards after 6;7;8 months.. Especially the MSC center. ....OR I'm misunderstanding something here.
The publicly posted wait times from USCIS are almost always longer - by a long shot - than actual wait times, which vary from center to enter
-
At this point I wish there were separate threads for different service centers! They all process at different speeds and different ways of doing things. All the Vermont filers like us got biometrics appointment within 6-8 weeks of submission and are now on 175+ days since hearing anything. Other centers are getting biometrics 3 months ago; others now. For any other Vermont filers on here, from what I can see Jan-Feb filers are getting their cards now 🤷🏼♂️

Hi Guys!
Anyone at the Vermont (EAC) Center who filled I-751 in July received an interview date? What are the predictions?
I've heard that things are going pretty quick for 2019 filers. On the USCIS website says wait time is over a year but I like to believe that's not true 😳😜
From what I red here, seems like everyone is being scheduled for an interview. Do you know of any approvals without having to go to an interview?
Happy Holidays!!!
Vermont July 19 filer here. I’ve been following this and other threads from similar months to ours. Some service centers are moving more quickly (mostly the national benefits center) - but no Vermont filers from July 2019 have had a notification about an interview yet.

I think this same case update has happened to a lot of people, including my wife's case, from what I can see across VisaJourney and other immigration tracking forum websites. I can't find anything from USCIS on it and I don't think anyone knows what it means at this time, though I have seen a million posts speculating.

This has happened to a lot of people over last week/weekend that I can see across VisaJourney, I m m i help, Trackitt, etc - my wife's case included - and right now I don't think anyone knows what it means.
Edited to add: I spelled I m m i help with spaces and VJ removed the wording from the body of the post, edited to change it so the post said what I intended it to say.

If you do not have any red flags I would suggest that you do not waste money on an attorney. I have said this many times before on other forums. I just came full circle and obtained US Citizenship. I went K-1 -> AOS -> ROC -> Citizenship without a single lawyer. At the following link you will find the proof needed for your I-751: https://www.visajourney.com/content/751guide/
My wife and are I are the same: We did K-1 --> AOS --> pending ROC and plan to do Citizenship without an attorney, with the caveat that when I was very new to this and applying for the K-1, I put together the entire application and paid an attorney for 30 minutes of his time to look over my application and make edits and suggestions. At the time when I was new to this, that was worth the $140 or so that I paid for that. Having gotten confidence with that, we felt very good about not hiring an attorney for AOS and it went off without a hitch. Good luck to you!

Just an update to overall topic. Flew with my wife back into the US (JFK) from Grand Cayman on "expired" conditional GC with extension letter, our first time flying on the extension letter. The gate attendant in Grand Cayman looked at the letter, no questions asked, and gave us boarding passes. We were not able to go through the automated passport/GC scanning machines on entry into US and did have to wait in the manual-processing line, but the officer who processed us was definitely knowledgable, asked almost no questions, took fingerprints from all fingers on both hands, took a photo, and got us through immigration in under 5 minutes. Easy peasey!

did anyone with a case in nebraska get any updates ? it's been 3 months and 6 days for me and still no updates since the noa1
If you look at May 2019 and April 2019 filers threads, these updates are showing a lot of people with LIN (Nebraska) case numbers just now getting biometrics. And since April/May was 5-6 months ago, my best guess it that IF you need biometrics, which many LIN filers do not end up needing, you'll get a notification sometime around March-April of 2020.

When did you receive your case number? If it was received via text/email, sometimes it takes a day (or a few days) before the system reflects the case number status.
Additionally, many people find that the old USCIS website (the one pictured in your original post) and USCIS case tracker app do not work to track their case until after biometrics are completed and sometimes not even then. My wife has completed her biometrics now 3 days ago and still she cannot use that website to track her case. However, when she logs into the new website, she is able to track case status. So it may be simply that.

I see the filing location is TX and AZ. how come people are filing Vermont and California. I dont understand?
All of us have sent the applications to AZ or TX. All of the applications get forwarded to a service center, which is reflected on your extension letter. Mine, for example, is at “EAC” which is the Vermont service center. Others are MSC (national benefits center), LIN (Nebraska), etc.

Biometrics completed today! Of note, our application service center had a giant sign on the door indicating that they no longer accept early walk in appointments (this location was Lawrence MA). Hopefully this is just at an isolated location!

Did you have to call them up or was it online?
On the biometrics form, there is a Request for Rescheduling section, on which you check off "Please Reschedule My Appointment", then mail the original letter (keep copy for yourself) to an address in Virginia listed on the letter. There is also a phone number listed, but I haven't found anything stating that you can reschedule with that phone number. Many people also have done walk-in appointments with their letter, GC and extension letter, passport etc in hand and complete biometrics early if they will be away during the scheduled time period with no problem.

Wow. Your appointment came fast for your biometrics. I am going away for a few weeks in another month. I guess I will have to get someone to check my mail and let me know if I get an appointment letter, so that i can call and change it if the appt. is when I am away.
Many people over the last 3 months of filers are having biometrics appts approx 5 weeks from the date of USCIS receiving their case, so we expected this to likely come this week! If you will be away during that approx 5 weeks window there is a high chance you will have to reschedule!!

Got our biometric notice in the mail today! I think we are the second people on July filers with a biometrics date, so hopefully more people start to see movement on their cases pretty soon. This makes our timeline:
7/6/19 - Mailed packet, 7/8/19 received by USICS
7/10/19 - NOA-1 dated, credit card charged
7/11/19 - Text receipt received, EAC (Vermont)
7/13/19 - Received NOA/extension letter in mail
08/03/19 - Biometrics letter received, dated 07/26/19
08/14/19 - Biometrics appt

I agree. It's just weird that the status says it's still in transit to the next facility...
I will send out another packet via UPS this time shouldn't this one get delivered by Saturday.
It's frustrating...
This happened to us as well. Our package was delivered at 8 in the morning 7/8/19 and said "still in transit". It was the FOLLOWING morning 7/9/19 that it updated to "delivered" with a note of which employee signed for it. We did NOT choose signature to be required for delivery and it doesn't matter, it seems they are still signed for if sent USPS priority or Express mail.

Did any of the July filers get any update regarding biometrics?
As far as I am aware, no July filers have received biometrics date yet. I won't go based on historic trends because until very recently some people were waiting ages for biometrics and having to do it after months of receiving information that their biometrics was waived...so I won't try to guess on how many people get it waived. But based on June 2019 ROC filers thread alone, it seems most people are getting their biometrics letter in the mail 3-4 weeks after NOA date. So my guess is folks with NOA date in the first week of July will start getting biometrics letter soon.

Lawrence, MA office working quickly. My wife received interview notice yesterday for her N-400 interview. She filed Sept 25, 2020, received biometrics waiver notice in November, and interview is scheduled for Feb 3 2021
