  1. My wife took her naturalization test yesterday morning...December 8. She passed her test and was given the option to participate in the oath ceremony later in the afternoon. She is officially an American citizen! It was exciting day even though no family members were allowed to witness the oath ceremony. We sincerely thank all forum members for their advice and support during this journey! We wish all those still waiting the best of luck!

    Respectfully,

I had my interview this morning (it was a combined 751/400).

The 751 one part started okay.  He asked basic questions of me and of my husband to confirm the info on our application.  Then he was like “let’s see your updated documents”.  Cool.  I handed him updated banking statements for checking, saving, and a credit card.  He went through each one and made sure all the months were there.

I showed the originals for our car titles.  I have updated car and health insurance documents.

And I gave an updated IRS tax transcript and certified copy of the state return.  I did NOT have the most recent ones (2019) because I thought I could obtain both federal and state through online portals.  I was wrong, and while I did send paper requests, I didn’t receive them back in time.  He did NOT like this, and it was an uncomfortable 2 minutes while I was shaking and holding back tears and my husband was rubbing my leg trying to soothe me.  So my advice, if you don’t have the official documents, bring something, anything, that shows you filed. I’m so mad at myself for not even printing out the return and w2’s.

Anyway, after that, it was a few more questions about why we don’t have utility bills together (I mean, I cannot get Verizon or the electric company to add a second name), about trips out of the country, and our family visiting schedule, and then that was that.

At the end he approved the filing, so I’m chalking his attitude up to the fact that that’s his job is to press and see how people react.

Also got approved for my n400, and due to covid, they did a same day oath ceremony.  Told me it would be “30 minutes” and it was 3 hours, but hey, I’M DONE!!

    Congratulations to both of you!

This morning we also completed the 751 interview and were approved. It was very easy with minimal questions. I had prepared "updated" documents with a cover page. The updated documents included most recent joint bank account, home utility bill, I-94 travel page, home and auto insurance AND 2018 & 2019 full tax returns. She looked at size of the 2 tax returns and only commented jokingly... "THESE are your tax returns?"

She did tell us that we had made her job easy and we were approved...

Congratulations again and best of luck to both of you!

I have an i751 on the 8th.  I am assuming it will be combined with the n400 (filed Jan 2020, had a scheduled interview for April, but covid).

Still no update online to either case.

I have another letter in the mail today from NBC, so I really am hoping that it’s the notice for the N400 on the same day/time.

Though, reading your update, I have some mild fear it will be a cancellation notice.

Last week the USCIS website showed our N-400 interview descheduled. Now, it is showing our N-400 SCHEDULED and confirmed by a N-400 notice of action letter we received in the mail. The naturalization interview date is November 5, 2020. What I am wondering about now is the USCIS website is still showing our I-751 interview on October 8, 2020. Just wondering if we will have the 2 separate interviews...

Well to add to this roll of USCIS activity - I saw in the USPS app today that I was getting a letter from USCIS.  I checked my case status and both the i751 and the n400 are the same (i751 says “case received” and n400 says “interview de-scheduled (covid)”, so I assumed this was the letter for the infopass appointment I had last week to get an ADIT stamp because 18 months was lapsing (since it never got sent by email), but IT’S the i751 interview notice!  Woohoo!

Last week when I was in the office, the IO doing my stamp did say they try to combine them, so hopefully they’ll just do both at once and save another trip.  I also noticed they were doing individual oath ceremonies and handing over certificates, so I’m pretty stoked that I should hopefully be done with this process for good soon.

Wish me luck!  I’m going to be frantic for the next 17 days while I prep all our evidence, and study the citizenship questions.

Sure appears you are close to the finish line! Wishing you and all others the best!

We too are getting excited with a confirmed I-751 interview date of October 8, 2020. With regard to our N-400 process and according to the USCIS website, an interview date has also been scheduled and a notice was sent out to us on September 16. We have not received a mailed N-400 interview notice which still has us wondering if the interviews will be combined. My common sense tells me they will NOT be combined simply because of the short notice between now and October 8th.

    Hello All,

an update on our case. We received the N400 Interview appointment for Oct 27th. It has been a long wait but finally we are seeing some light at the end of the tunnel. The I751 is still pending but my guess this will be adjudicated at the same time.

I wish everyone a speedy process.

    Best Regards

    Jonny Eser

    Congratulations!

This morning, we received an online update concerning our N-400 saying an interview has been scheduled! We are waiting on the website to post the interview date. We are currently scheduled for a I-751 interview on October 8. So we are thinking it might be a combo interview. We will keep our timeline updated.

  6. Today we received an email I-751 "case update".

The notice date is August 26, 2020 and says... "Your I-751 interview has been scheduled. We will mail you an interview notice. Please follow instructions in the mailed notice".

We are excited to have received ANY notice at this point in our pursuit. However, since we submitted our online N-400 on July 14, 2020, we are wondering if we will actually have the I-751 interview OR will the case get transferred somewhere again with the N-400 application.

    Any thoughts/responses are appreciated.

  7. We received the following email notice...

We never received any mailed notice...

As of May 14, 2020, we are ready to schedule your Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence, Receipt Number SRC1990******, for an interview. We will schedule your interview and send you a notice. Please follow any instructions in the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

Hey! Have you heard anything back? My case was also transferred to NBC in March and haven’t heard anything since

We have not heard a thing other than the online case transfer notice telling us our case has been transferred to our local office. We never received a mailed explanation. I just continue to check our case on the USCIS website.

We are optimistic because the case was transferred to our LOCAL office.

    Possibly for an interview?

My i751 is still pending (in “we received your case”), but once I got my interview notice for the n400, I reached out to my congressman’s office and his rep was able to confirm with USCIS that the i751 will be sent to the local office in Buffalo for a combo interview.

If your spouse does plan on filing for citizenship, it may be wise to file online, and once things start to return to normal they can have their n400 biometrics and a combined interview :)

My interview was scheduled for yesterday :(  I should have been at the finish line.  The health and safety of everyone IS more important though.

Thanks for your valued response. Although your interview was cancelled, you should still feel excited that the finish line of your journey is within reach once our country and its citizens regain their strength. We are happy for you both.

I also appreciate your optimism with regard to the transfer of our case ending with an interview. Fingers crossed!

My wife IS interested in obtaining her citizenship. Our approach has been "one step at a time". I have not posted or responded to many of the other filers on this forum but I do read most of the posts when my time allows. I know there are many who have submitted their N-400 while still waiting on approval of their i751 in hopes of a combination approval/interview. We hesitated sending the N-400 until we started seeing(on this forum)  combo interviews scheduled. It appears this is happening for you and perhaps others which is motivation for us to go ahead and submit our N-400.

Thanks again for your thoughts Cryssiekens.

  10. Just an update on our ROC status. We are SRC filers in Texas and today we received an email stating that our case has been transferred. We have not filed for citizenship. The email says we will receive a notice explaining why our case was transferred. We are assuming the transfer explanation notice will be mailed. (Our timeline should be visible with questions about our filing dates.)

    Anyone with similar situation?

    Comments appreciated...

    Thanks!

  11. 9/21/2019 - We received email case update notice saying "Fingerprint Review was Completed". We did not have a biometrics appointment with our I-751 petition. I guess they used the fingerprints from our original biometrics appointment from the original green card(I-485) petition. Our timeline has been updated. My instinct and USCIS history thus far in this process leads me to believe we will not have an interview. We are looking forward to the arrival of our new green card!

I will also add that my wife(petitioner) and I left the USA this summer for  7 weeks and she did not have any problem returning. She provided her expired 2 year GC and the NOA letter to immigration upon our return.

Wishing EVERYONE the best of luck in their immigration pursuit!

    1/25/2019 - I-765 submitted

    2/1/2019 - I-765 NOA

  12. Just passing our case info along to this forum...

    (Texas Service Center)

We received an automated email from USCIS today stating that...

"We are still reviewing your case and there are no updates at this time. We will notify you when your case status changes. We last took action on February 5."

Interesting because we have already received our NOA extension letter and have made no further inquiry to them since receiving the letter.

Hi guys, just updating... I mailed my documents on 02/05, arrived by usps on 02/07 and today I received a text message from USCIS: USCIS:  Your case was received. Receipt # Xxxx Official Receipt Notice (Form I-797) to follow in mail.

Is the receipt notice the extension letter?

    Thanks!!

Based on previous comments, the receipt notice is your extension.

I'm at the same service location SRC and haven't gotten the receipt notice yet. 30 days is up today. Will submit my inquiry tomorrow.

Wow! Sorry for your delay. Wish there was a way to really know what happens to our applications upon arrival and also if there is something specific they review with regard to sending out notices. Or...maybe it's just different employee personalities that create our frustration. Who knows...

No. Nothing yet. Online status still says:

    "We received your case

You do not need to do anything at this time

We will let you know if we need anything else from you as we continue to review your case."

If we don't hear anything by the 27th, I will do an e-request for the extension letter. If we don't get anything by around March 12, I will try to get an infopass appointment for the following week, while my wife is on spring break. Her card expires April 1.

Hang in there! I am intrigued with the response disparity in all of the cases but interested in yours because of the same office location. Will continue to wish you both and others the best of luck in our pursuit.

I went home at lunch and checked the mail. The letter was not from USCIS.
But I am encouraged to see someone with an SRC  case number sent about the same time is seeing some progress.

Hoping the best for you both and all others on this forum!

I will continue to post any updates to our status in hopes of benefiting everyone going through this process.

We mailed our package Jan 18 and received case number text and check cashed on Jan 28. We also have SRC case number.

USPS informed delivery is showing 1 letter today, but no photo available. Hoping it is her extension.
She is applying for nursing school and we will need to provide a copy.

Thanks for your response. Hope the letter your waiting for is your wife's extension as well. So I am still wondering from this forum if our NOA letter is in fact the document needed for work and travel while we wait for other events leading up to obtaining the new GC.
