When they did this to me they took 4 months off, so it went from 18 months to 14 months.

you might get an interview even sooner but no guarantee as some have waited over a year and half or more, then their is people who got their interview in less then 4-6 months.

I am wondering why your process too that long. I am about to file my application this month, I am praying my interview takes less than 6 months.

    1A is your correct answer.

    I would suggest filing online.

Regardless of paper or online filing, I would suggest filing 1 week inside your open eligibility window.

What do you mean by open eligibility window for N400? This month of January made it 4 years I arrived United States. Became permanent resident or ROC approved in April, 2021. When do you think is my eligibility window? How do I calculate it?

Evidence. At the time of filing, you must submit all evidence and supporting documentation listed in the Required Evidence section of these Instructions.
    https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/document/forms/n-400instr.pdf

It is strongly suggested you file online and not by mail. Online filing (1) gives you instructions on what you need to submit based on your answers (2) gives you an immediate filing receipt vs a month or more by mall given current delays and backlogs with physical mail

Thank you for your post, it is informative to me starting on naturalization filing very soon. Will the charges be done online too?

Hi everyone - the status of my case was updated. It was transferred to the local office in order for an interview to be scheduled. Does anyone know how long it usually takes from there until interview (or whether it completely depends on the local office)? I’m 7 month pregnant so I’m a little concerned with timing!

    Hello Odry.

    1. Congratulations!!

    2. Don't be concerned or worried, you don't need such negative vibe in your state.

    3. My opinion is, consult a skilled immigration attorney now, before you get your interview invite letter. He / She would be ready to know what to do.

    4. Consider number 3, USCIS could be a bully when a legal consultant is not involved. I am kind of recovering from depression and a bitter experience of not consulting an immigration attorney.

    Good luck.

    Hello everyone!

I had my interview yesterday and got approved! Yes! I had my biometrics appointment back in January 2020 before the lockdowns and the interview yesterday. Not much have changed in the offices because of COVID, they don't allow you to go in 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment and obviously you need a mask.

For the interview they will tell you in the notice what you need to bring. If your ROC is marriage related, you have to take your spouse and what the officer lady valued the most was: photos together, tax returns filed jointly, joint bank accounts. You don't need to take anything that you've already submitted to them. So I took our apartment lease contract, utility bills, tax return and bank statements from this year only.

She took us to a separate room and interview us together, asked us how we met, how was our wedding, what do we like to do together and just general plans for the future. She was taking notes while we talked. It lasted around 20 minutes. She had our whole case with her which was crazy to see (from K1 to now). She was very nice and told us we were approved right away and the card would come in the mail between 2 weeks and 2 months. She also mentioned I can now apply for citizenship.

My local office was in Portland, Oregon.

I appreciate your so much, your post is really helpful to me.

Congratulations on your green card approval.

Hello,I need some help as I’m getting unsettled and paranoid,I know most of this has been caused by the pandemic but people are starting to get approval and all,so I filed in February I was supposed to go for my biometrics in April but due to the lockdown I couldn’t and I was rescheduled for the 19th of October,my case was updated to case ready be scheduled 2 weeks ago but I’m yet to hear anything, has anyone been in this position before and how long should I be looking at to get an interview date and should I still expect my ead,my field office is in Philadelphia because I live in Delaware, anything to help please.

Brother, you are not alone being paranoid in this position, just be calm, everything will turn out well.

  7. Hello everyone. My status since June,2020 has been "scheduled for interview" until today 11/12/2020 as an email, stating my case status is now " Testing and Interview".

It state I will get the interview notice mailed to me.

I got the email with a mixed feeling, I was happy I got progress about my application, sad that I have scheduled flight to check on my sick dad.

I am now curious what the interview questions would be like, any hint?

No need to worry- you have enough on your plate. I would just make sure you don't cut it too close to the expiration date (for example if it expires Jan 15 I wouldn't book your return ticket on Jan 13) in case there are airline cancellations etc. Hopefully you will get your greencard soon and not have to travel with the paper document... but in the meantime, no big deal.

oh! my 2 years green card expired January 6, 2020. With 18 months extension, I think I got lots of time.

I plan visiting this month of November, returning first week next month. Thanks.

I'm sure millions of people travel with it. That's part of its purpose. Husband travels internationally and had no issues- it's a valid government document. Go visit your dad and don't worry about the extension letter.

Thank you for the re-assuring message. It is a messed up system right now, I was having doubt and those ''what if'' scenarios.

  10. Hello everyone.

I am waiting on i-751 approval and I am on 18 months extended green card visa. I need to visit my sick dad in my home country Nigeria, since I could not pay my last respect to late mum's funeral last year.

My question is, has anyone travel with the extended visa document given by USCIS? What is the experience?

I anticipate any opinion because I am scared.

My case was transferred on may 1st to local office, that was update on myaccount uscis site.

But now it's not showing that anymore. It's saying that last update was fingerprints in November last year, any ideas?

Check status site is still showing that last action was on May 1st.

Texas service center, New Orleans Local office

    Didn't file n400

Thank you for the update. I think you will have to call USCIS for explanation. I have not filed for n400 either, still waiting and praying for an approval.

Really depends on your local field office and how they operate right now.
mine has been ready for an interview for about 3 months as well in Albany and I haven’t heard anything else. We could hear something tomorrow, or in a year from now...

    You are right.

I was scheduled for interview in the month of June, I got so excited. While waiting, I got two emails at the same time; one wrote, my interview had been cancelled, another wrote it was rescheduled.

Right now, I am just waiting on my window to open next month so as to apply for N400.

We just got the notification that my husband's case has been approved and his card is being produced!  USCIS received the packet on 9/18/2019, so that puts us at basically exactly 11 months processing time.  Much quicker than we were expecting!

Now we can take a break for a month until it's time to apply for N-400 :)

    Congratulations.

I got a mail stating they have "cancelled or descheduled my interview", I don't understand what it means. Actually, all i want is a quick approval.

Don't worry, just a little more longer! Atleast you dont have a interview! I have to wait and see how long it takes...

Im thinking its going to be a tough interview because I falsely arrested for Domestic Violence (charger was dismissed/never filed with the court). Ugh, I never been in trouble in my life and ima end up crying during the interview I bet because it was a very tough situation for me :(

    Hey PolarPear,

Reading your statement, you only need to prove to whoever will interview you it was false arrest. One advise is, fight that fear and negative vibe before going for the interview because they read your body language and your speech which is beyond what is on paper.

I am also waiting diligently for an interview date though I just want my request to be approved without interview because of the stress, here in Tennessee is an hot zone for the virus.
