Okay, I am back again.. a few questions.

So, we are going to start the AOS and I just want to understand the total expenses with the AOS.

    From what I understood:

I-485, Application To Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status: 1.140

I–765 Application for Employment Authorization: 410

I-131/I-131A Application for Travel Document: 575

    Biometric Services Fee: 85

and a couple other free forms...

I read the AOS Guide here, but I am still confused: Do we need to pay all of them separately or are they all included in the i-485 fee (except biometric)?

    Someone enlight us, please.

    Thanks

We had difficulty. We applied for the application for travel document. It came back saying "pay fees" but as we understood it you can lump them together.  I printed and showed them where it says fees waived and revised the application. Still rejected.  We decided not to pay extra and not to pursue it as we feel its not critical.  We have not received any other updates/notice about anything else in the package though. Its been since April. Anyone else have anything happening?

Technically you aren't required to fulfill the vaccination requirements to get the K1 visa - so you can't automatically draw the conclusion that since they are here they have.

That said, most likely it won't be a problem. The K1 visa applicant is supposed to get a copy though. It even says on it. Perhaps you can contact the overseas doc office and ask them to email a copy? - if it worries you

We are doing that pre-emptively because we always want to assume worst case scenarios in this process it seems. Better to have contingencies in place.  Just one of those unfortunate and annoying lessons that appear.  Keeping my optimism but grounded in reality.

For the DS-3025, send along a photocopy. The idea is to send a "gentle reminder" that the vaccination requirements have been met. Yes the original is in the sealed packet given at POE and this should be connected to your A-file. Sometimes this isn't done in time or at all, and the DS-3025 you send along with your application would then show the IO that it exists and would/could prompt them to look for it as opposed to sending the applicant an RFE for missing vacc. req.

The doctor didn't provide a copy and my wife didn't request one. Obviously everything was sealed. Hope they don't ask because your are here and applying to,change status so you've fulfilled the requirements in,my view. Immigration took the packet and logically its sent and filed for future use in,this process. Totally walking blind through this. I explicitly followed the steps in instructions and this form was,not mentioned anywhere.

The doctor who performed my medical gave me a copy of the ds3025.  I was not given anything from the embassy or POE.

The ds3025 is just the vaccination supplement part of the medical, which is required to send along with the i485 package.  Perhaps check with your spouse to see if they received it from the doctor and filed it somewhere else?

If missing from the i485 my understanding is they will send an rfe asking for the 693, which is a form filled by a US civil surgeon who transcribes the vaccination record.

Ok-- thanks.  As i read the instructions for the I-485 it says medical records on request.  I just assumed they had all that stuff, or at minimum you came into the country on a k-1 visa and had already met all those medical/physical requirements and to ask for them would be totally redundant. Looks like I will get an RFE and now I need to track down copies back in Africa, or get them from the doctor back there. Really annoying when things aren't spelled out clearly.

I can answer part of this:

with the i485- you just send in the ds3025 as long as it says complete.

Not sure how it works with the vac not being available though.  I was confused on this as well and just decided to send what I had and wait for an rfe if they needed anything more.  That never came though :)

Worst case: send in what you have and if they need something further, let them request it.  Just to save time and money for you trying to guess now and maybe needing something further later.

Congrats and good luck with the rest of the process!

Ok-- now i am totally confused. I didn't see anything on the I-485 that mentioned medical/vacinnation items be sent. My fiance had her whole packet kept at the point of entry.  She doesn't have anything.  Should that have been given back to her once opened?  As I read the 485 it only said Medical stuff "when requested".  Anyway-- my hope is that the packet stuff gets sent/forwarded to somewhere.

Congrats to all who have received USCIS or NVC updates! I arrived here in the US 2 weeks ago, got married, updated my SSN and filed for AOS already. I cannot wait to put all the paperwork behind me for a while! :)

We got married on Friday. It was sunny in Seattle for once.  :)   I am busy with AOS stuff. Is it really $1,140 application fee? Ouch!!!  Can anyone provide a good step by step on what to submit. I don't want to screw this up. #1 I have the I-485.  #2 765(application for employment). #3 Application for Travel document. #4 Do we need to re-submit Affadavit of Support again? #5 G325a (more plastic bags :) ) #6 certified copy of marriage cert. #7  Copy of birth cert. #8  cover letter

  7. Sorry been off the grid. I was with my lady last Thursday when she physically picked up her visa. We then went to book her flight and a good, thing as they said YOU can't travel one way on,this visa...which I would have bought it as and she would, have been in a,pickle on Feb 11th as she tried to,board. I paid, with, miles for the leg to Addis one way and then bought a r/t for $856 to Seattle. Anyone else heard of,this pitfall?Anyway had a great week there which was cool knowing while I was in,flight she had her interview. It was smooth. One unticked box,by the doctor that she had to return that day and have it sorted out. Pretty, much 4,months door,to,door from NOAA1

  8. We were a bit fortunate to get an email on the site from some couple doing cr1 in Malawi(not many of us) and they told us of an alternate rx because the other American left town for Xmas. My girl went to,the embassy and waited 2 hours and they said we need your packet 1st but they said since u waited voila. Hopeful the other rx is around Monday/Tuesday. Then once NVC kit arrives we can schedule for early January it seems...maybe we can be on the same flight here coincidentally

  9. The DS-160 is valid 30 days, but if you pay fee before 23rd do you effectively lose the $$ should the interview not occur? Then do it again with new fee applied? Curious gamble I suppose. We feel like Malawi is obscure enough it might get punched through quick, yet also TIA(this is africa) and ####### my push through slowly. We are exploring getting medical done and have results officially done once packet 3 appears that side. Thoughts and, opinions welcome
