  1. And of course you may not get AP or have a very short one like our fellow traveller Malarie.

Best of luck in your journey! Keep us all posted as to your progress!

Yes - Thank God it wasnt too horrible -- but we did wait over 2 months and visa is not in hands yet (I know not as much as others but feels like a million years!!).

Dani - you should prepare for a wait as your fiance's first name is VERY common so it will take a while for the name check to go through.

    JMHO though -- keep positive!!

  2. Awe, thanks for your kind wishes. Hope all is well for you! When's he flying to the States??

He does not have the visa in his hands yet .... he is actually at the embassy RIGHT NOW waiting for it.

Praying not funny games will be played as he was told 2 times before this the visa would be ready ... this time however the DOS confirmed to me there was a visa number in the computer.

Minutes are dragging ... tic tic tic

Hoping to be Happy Dancing in a little while -- I will post when I find out!!

Take care and still crossing fingers for you guys!!!

  3. Hi

I brought my husband here from another contry 2 months ago om k3 visa and what a mistake! He still hasnt got his work permit or residency because he is abusing me and threating me everyday and I dont what to do! I want a divorce and want to send him back I never thought this would happen because we have known each other 6 years and as soon as he stepped foot in america hes a different person! He used me!! I feel so lost and I need help. What is the first step to take?He has called the police trying to claim spouse abuse but I have called police for all he is doing.I got police reports too. Please help hes driving me insane!!I think he pretended to love me for money and his green card! But I have not done either I refuse too..I dont know what forum to write too so I found this one.If its wrong forum I apologize.I know I am reponsible for him and thats what hes also threating me about and im working so hard to support him cause he brought no money either! :bonk: .Thankyou for any help.

First - sorry to hear you are going through this ... its such heartbreak when things dont happen as you think they will ....

Speaking from experience ..... even if you have filed for the AOS, EAD, SS# etc.... and you have NOT attended the AOS interview ... DIVORCE AND DO IT QUICKLY

If your husband is here on a K3 he can only adjust while being married to you. If you do not attend the AOS interview USCIS will deny the AOS(provided you are given an AOS interview and GC is not automatically sent.

At any rate you should make an info pass appointment and bring with you the official WITHDRAWL letter so you can hand it directly to the person you speak with. Be sure to include ANY and ALL petitions or affidavits of support you may have filed for your husband (just to cover all bases).

  4. Thanks for your kind wishes.

I'm the SO/USC and I have gone the Congressman route, but essentially they just call the DOS and get the same information that I do - it's still pending administrative processing and it normally takes 60-90 days but it could take much longer.

As you all say, at least the embassy is trying to help in the capacity that they can. And it's comforting to know that we're considered in AP for a long time and stand out from the crowd, as the CO says.

    Here's hoping...for all of us!

Hang in there Meredith ... this process will make you insane but in the end it will be so sweet .... I hope all of this resolves quickly and you guys can come home!!!

    Malarie

  5. WOWOWOWOWOWOW! Short AP for you guys! Congratulations and best of luck!

Sooooo... I emailed the embassy to see if they would confirm what I was told and -- YES!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm officially HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY DANCING!!!:dance::dance::dance:

    :dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance:

I hope everyones AP ends soon so y'all can reunited with your SO's (Or return home with your SO's for all those lucky enough to be together during the waiting period!!)

    :dance::dance: ~~~~ some more happy dancing ~~~~ :dance::dance:

    Malarie

  6. Drum roll please....... I decided to call the DOS 30 minutes before they closed today just to see if anything were updated after "the call" from the embassy last week and .......................

THE LADY TOLD ME HIS VISA WAS ISSUED ON APRIL 18TH!!!!!!!!!!!!! (which was Sunday I know --- this country works Sunday-Thursday!)

The embassy has not called him yet so its not actually in his hand --- BUT THERE'S A VISA NUMBER

do we dance or wait until he actually has it in his hands .........??????

:dance: - ok only a little dancing until he has it in his hands!!!

  7. Well ... At least they are working on it!!

I hope you guys hear something soon and can move on with your lives!!!

The man that contacted me yestereday apologized about the length of time and also added that he has so many cases to work on. Maybe we have the same person working on our cases?

Anyway -- GOOD LUCK -- Something is better than nothing!!!!!

Take care and keep us posted!!

    Malarie

All it takes is a little information, just knowing something about what's going on, for us to be so much happier! I hope your husband's AP is over very, very soon!!

THIS IS WHAT I HAVE BEEN SAYING FOREVER!! If they would just tell you the case is waiting security clearance and the reality of it all is you are probably going to wait a minimum 3 months ... then so be it. At least you would clearly know the exact status of your case -- the unknown is the worst!!!

  8. OK - what do you all think about this....

My fiance had his interview on February 23,2010. After the interview he was given a paper that said "congrats blah blah blah - you will receive your visa withing 8 days via DHL".... two weeks later and still not passpport my fiance called the embassy and was told "oh -- you have to come in for an orientation and after you will receive your passport with visa" (this was on March 22,2010) .... Went to orientation and yep as you probably guessed still not visa stating still in AP.

It's just about 3.5 weeks later and we are going crazy not knowing if the file is in security clearance or some other type of processing .... because as I'm sure everyone on this forum knows calling the DOS is just a lovely experience and one that you dont get any real information from.

So last night I told my fiance that maybe he should try contacting the embassy from his side and ask for a status. Which he did and of course was told still in processing and they would call him when ready.

Not 10 minutes after I received this message from my fiance the embassy was calling me to ask me questions about myself as well as pretty much the same information that was asked of my fiance during the interview ---:wacko:

A bit different than "oh you will have your visa within 8 days". Obviously they are looking for something more.

I asked the CO after all the questions what was to happen next and he said it looked very positive.

I'm having slight heart palpititions from the stress (JUSt KIDDING)... but really this is pure AGONY.

This not knowing is really really bad!!!

    Malarie

  9. We've all been so patiently waiting...what's the news?!? Did he get his visa at the orientation?

No ... if you have been following this from the beginning at the interview he was not asked to sign the DS156K (I believe they forgot as the woman who gave the interview was a little "passionate" - she yelled a lot and not just with him all the applicants that day ...). He was asked to sign the form and told he had to wait.

This is absolutely horrible -- not knowing -- waiting -- not knowing -- waiting ......

  10. Damn, Girl!!! How'd that happen? He's one of my favorite song writers of ALL TIME! I've been listening to his stuff since I was about 13 years old.

Umm ... I guess you could say I'm a stalker.... I went to see him in Las Vegas last fall and I was bound and determined to meet him (ask Jax).... anyway I stayed at the same hotel the concert was (Mandalay Bay) and after hanging out Friday night and all day Saturday, went to the concert (it was awesome as usual) and after hung around --- NOTHING. I resigned to the fact I wasnt going to meet him this time and went to bed. The next morning we went to the buffet in the hotel and as you see he was there. I actually saw his wife first getting food (LOL) and I was nonchalantly following her around to see where she was sitting. Well it seemed like an hour so I decided to go back to my table and when I turned around I SAW HIM. I hauled my butt back to my table for my camera and went over to talk with him. He was very very nice and his wife too. She was sitting next to him and got up so I could sit there and talk with him LMAO.... We talked for about 10 minutes. It's one of those things that one will never forget!!

  11. Thanks, Anwesha! It's a long journey, and I am just doing step 1, then it took me almost a year! Sheesh! i can't imagine what is going to happen later, at AOS and what not! crazy. But, I know that there are alot of other people out there who have waited longer than me, so I guess I have to be thankful!

Thanks a lot Anwesha! Good Luck to you, too! :) you are sweet.

    Season.

The long wait will be worh it when your SO is with you.... and you are not the only one who is still waiting. I am too, but my fiance did have his interview already.

This waiting really sucks -- excuse my language

  12. Update ...... No delivery from UPS within 8 days (not too shocked). Waited another week and then my fiance contacted the embassy. He was told he needed to attend an orientation on March 22nd and at that time they would give him his passport & visa.

Needless to say I was :wacko: as I have never heard of this before. Upon talking with Jackie (thx Jax) she said she thought this was something that usually people immigration from the Phillipines. So, I searched VJ and found threads about it. It still seemed odd to me as I never heard of anything like this before from Algeria so I sent an email to the consulate for clarification. They did respond (and promptly -- love the Algerian Consulate -- they are very easy to work with!!). They confirmed that he does need this and hes already scheduled for March 22nd and at that time the will get his passport back with the visa.

So -- Is this something new for Algiers for 2010? Has anyone else gone through Algiers experienced or heard of this?

Still not comfortable doing the happy dance until that visa is in his hands ......

  13. I was going to post pics of the awesome cake I made you, but I thought this would start your day off right :)

You are an awesome friend and we hope your day is special and full of good things!

    Well Hello B-Day present ;););)

    You're a sweetie!!!

    TY Jax and everyone!!!

  14. Hi guys,,,

Azzeddine got the "call" today... but its was not the call we thinking we would get... They called this morning and told him to return next WEDNESDAY, well he asked them if would be ok to come on Monday cos he will be in Casa for some business. They told him that would be fine, he then tried to ask if he will recieve his visa and the guy did not know "DUHHHHHHH"y he did not know... the guy just said "maybe it is for your second interview?"

So Azzeddine just accepted his response , then after a hour of my unsettled worries , he said "honey do u want me to call them back" well of course LOLOL

so he got different guy!! Azz asked what he should bring to the appointment and the guys said bring your passport DUHHHHHHH again,,,, they took his passport last week........... and the guy said OHHHHHHHH then just come with nothing.. So he asked what is the appointment for and the guy" maybe the second interview"

So now what do I think of this all this....

email from them said Administrative Processing ....

i am soooooooo confused...... i thought if they take the passport it mean visa however i know they can do what they want...

    ANY THOUGHTS?

Call the DOS and ask the status. If the visa has been issued a visa number will be visable to them in the computer.

  15. Hullo Malarie !! Any News ?

No .. nothing yet. I have called the DOS everyday (today it just rang and rang -- not too sure if they are closed for Casmir Polaski day or phone problems ... whatever).

My fiance contacted UPS in Algeria on Sunday and there was nothing yet. Tomorrow will be 1 week - the paper says to way 8 days (not that we all dont know that could mean 8 months ... but one can hope they are going to be true to their word cough cough).

    This waiting thing really bites.......

It's Monday - I'm crabby - still lonely so I'm having a pity party for myself.
