I don’t know if Direct Consular Filing is applicable in this case, but you should look into it. I believe you are eligible if you have been legally residing in Ghana for 6 months. It could cut the processing time (1 year) significantly. When it comes time to do your I-130 petition contact the USCIS office at the embassy: USCIS.Accra@uscis.dhs.gov.

Looks like the Immediate Relative process is the path: https://www.uscis.gov/adoption/bringing-your-internationally-adopted-child-united-states
Basically, you:
1) Adopt*
2) Live together for 2+ years*
3) File the I-130 just like a biological child. ETA: ~1 year or so, depending on current processing at that time.
*Technically, full legal custody counts towards the 2 years, not just post-adoption time adoption (but adoption is still required before filing the I-130).

Assuming you meet the requirements it would be the same deal as a normal child.

More details will be needed...US immigration is very strict with adoptions.
For instance
Age of child? Do they have any living parents? Will they be living with their adopted parent for at least 2 years before coming to the US? -

WHAT A GREAT DAY!
I just wanted everyone to know my fiance had his interview today at the U.S. Embassy in Accra, Ghana, and by the grace of God he was approved! Soon he will come to America for us to be married!
I must thank the U.S. Embassy in Ghana for their kindness to him and their approval, and also all the great people on Visajourney who helped me navigate this process smoothly. If not for the generosity of those on here and those who make videos like the ones on YouTube I'm not sure we would have been able to be successful.
I wish all of you awaiting your loved one's approval the best of luck and encourage you to stay vigilant and positive that your day will arrive too. I first mailed off my I-294 application on 06-15-2017, so from mailing to approval it's been about 11 months.
I am here to help in any way I can as always.

Approved!!! My husband arrived at his interview at 7:30am and was called in.
He went through the strandard processing befire he was called in by an Adjudicator, he asked him 4 questions regarding my workplace, if I was married before, which city I live in and if he was previously married.
He answered all if the questions correctly. He said the Ajudicator was very polite and professional.
He was unable to approve him that day because my husband needed to update his pok8ce certificate and also his medical was not in.
My husband had to wait an additional week to pick up the medical report and recieve his second immunization.
The adjudicator provided him with the DHL information to submit his medial report and police certificate.
He submitted the information on 1/29/18, his status changed to Administrative review ( after the interview).
His status was updated to issued on 2/5/2018.
We are waiting to get the message to come and pick up his passport.
Alhamdullilah, for everything.

ameerazak reacted to Wallhut in Ghana NVC Approval Now In Accra: K1
Thank you, Ameera. I've done some searching in the forums and I have the assistance of a friend I met on Facebook whose husband recently arrived on a K-1 so I have good sources, but I just wanted to hear from some who may have recently gone through the K-1 process for the latest information. I just want to make sure I do everything right so there are no issues with the process. Thanks again!
