Copies of the Marriage certificate and son’s birth certificate your STBX husband can obtain himself, no?
I would not give them your birth certificate though…Yea I am not understanding my birth certificate part. He can obtain those other items but he doesn't understand the steps to do so. I am not trying to be difficult about it so no issues providing those but my personal birth certificate is what makes me uncomfortable. I have asked several times why it is needed..

What type of details are being requested?
And is your husband filing for his mother to come over on a visit or come over to live permanently?
I believe you cannot petition a parent if you are an LPR you have to wait for citizenship.
You use the word "visiting" so I think they might just be applying for a tourist visa?
I would not give any details as your STBX MIL is responsible for her own process and cannot be "sponsored".
And you do not have to "sponsor her" or be responsible for her... she will have to show the consulate she can look after herself in the US and that she will return to her home country.
Honestly, I am not really sure what is being filed. I have requested details several times. They are asking for my birth certificate, our marriage certificate, and our son's birth certificate.
Thanks for clarifying. I also believe it is just a tourist visa so I should be all set.

My spouse and I are in the midst of a Divorce; however, he has decided to now file for his mother to come to the US. How will this work with us being in the middle of a Divorce? My details are being requested on the filing; however, will I be considered "responsible" for her while she is here visiting? I assume our home (which I will be keeping) will also be the residence listed on the application. Just wondering if anyone has experience with this situation.

Mine is 3 months today, nothing yet.
All we have received is our extension letter (June) but no appointment for biometrics or anything else. This is insane. We have a trip planned in November but we are nervous to go with him just having a letter...

Gosh I forgot how stressful this waiting game is...We received our extension letter on 6/3 but no biometrics appointment yet. Our receipt number starts with SRC. Anyone else in the same boat? It appears everyone else is receiving biometric appointment really soon so wondering what is taking ours so long.

Why so?

Hi all,
Not sure if this is the appropriate place to post but I would really appreciate input/advice. I am a us citizen married to my husband who is a legal permanent resident of the us (we will be applying to remove the conditions of his green card this year). I really would like to have a surprise my husband by inviting his brother's to our home in the us. Does anyone know the process or difficulty of his brothers obtaining a visa to visit the U.S? Even for a short while. They are from Jamaica. I am not attempting to start the process to "sponsor" the but was only looking for them to come over on a short stay visa. Anyone have insight on this process?

My husband's EAD card expired January of this year. Unfortunately, we were not paying attention and we have yet to send in our form to renew it. What can we do? Is he still allowed to work with an expired EAD card. Can he travel?

Thanks for starting this! My husband and I filed in October and he finally received his card last week!

What did the agent tell you after the interview? He would told you if he is approving on the spot or later. And what is your local office? Anyways, some people do express delayed approval. Especially if they want to verify additional information that you provided at the interview. But he would have told you guys so if that was the case.
We interviewed in Dallas at the Irving field office. The officer did not seem to have any concerns or questions. He said he would work on getting it processed as soon as possible. He did not mention there was additional information he needed from us, but I just don't understand why we were not instantly approved. I am concerned about what the hold up is.

My husband and I had our interview last Thursday, May 25th. The whole interview lasted maybe 20 mins the agent asked us a few questions and then there was some small talk, but there has been no approval. Should we be concerned? I know there were quite a few people who received instant approvals, but is there anyone who has had their interview but were not approved on the spot? My husband is adjusting from a F-1 Visa.

As of March 1, 2017, we are ready to schedule your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status, Receipt Number MSCXXXXXXX, for an interview. We will schedule your interview and send you a notice. Please follow any instructions in the notice.
Woohoo! Finally, we are getting some updates. Does anyone know if we can schedule our own appointment?

U are the petitioner... Your husband is the applicant to clear up that confusion. You, your husband or your attorney can call USCIS. Ask to speak with a tier 2 and you will get a call back depending on how busy they are
Every time I call, I am constantly told that I need to have the applicant present to hear specific details about my case.

I got a letter saying waiting for an interview with no status update since ead. Wait 90 days before inquiry.
Well, hopefully, we get some update soon. I can't call to inquire about the status because I am not the "applicant" and by the time my husband gets off there are no tier 2 support agents available to speak with. We are grateful for receiving the EAD/AP combo but now with everything going on we would really find some comfort with at least getting his green card.

We havent heard a word since the EAD/AP card was mailed
Same here. I guess now the wait officially begins. At least with the EAD/AP card we had a general estimate of 90 days.

Any October filers I-485 status not been updated to "ready to schedule interview"? We haven't received any updates on our I-485 status since sending in our response to the RFI we received on our I-485 which they received on January 3rd.

I have received my EAD the third week of January, and until now they did not update the status online or send me anything. When should I expect them to send me an interview date or some correspondence?? ayone with insight on this? and when can you contact USCIS to inquire about the delay in scheduling an interview?
It looks like we have similar timelines. I am also curious about this as well. I have not received any "ready to schedule interview" update. My status still says "RFE response received". We've received the EA/AP combo card but have not received any further updates.

hello guys its been a great day for me! Just finish my AOS interview in louiville ky i got approved on the spot and 2 hrs after the interview they sent me a text message and email that my form I-130 is approved and I-485 card is being produced.. and i asked the immigration officer after the interview if my background check is all good, she told me yes and they woundnt have schedule me for interview if its still pending.. so most probably for those of you who havent scheduled for interview yet your background check might still be pending.. if you have any questions of how did the interview goes and the questions she asked feel free too ask.. she said i should get my gc in the mail by 2 wks to 1 month.. so thank god im finally done with this.. wish u all the best of luck!!
12Congratulations! When did you file? Also, how long from the time you received your EAD card until you were able to schedule your interview? We haven't received any further communication since receiving our EAD/AP combo card.

We received our EAD/AP combo in the mail today! We just received our official receipt notice in the mail for our EAD/AP approval yesterday. Wishing everyone a fast process on this immigration journey!
-
Congrats! Our status just updated to "Your card is being produced". How long did it take you to receive it in the mail?

I think we all should be starting to hear news soon. We got our approval notice for the EAD card yesterday as well! Can't wait to receive it in hand!

Actually I just did some research based on these responses. I believe he is attempting to file for his citizenship. That appears to be the only time these things would be requested. Not sure why he didn't just say that but apparently that must be what he is doing. As I believe that is the first step before he can file for his mother to come here permanently.
