I have seen this too, and probably more cultural/personal reasons behind it.
I know some people have planned to travel back over seas to see their fiance with the plan to propose, even thought the two are already getting ready to apply for the K-1 openly.
My partner and I never really did any proposals or what not, we just knew that's what we both wanted. Just how we are though together and as people so.
Everyone has their own ways of doing things, and again could be cultural and even to show their fiance's families their are serious.

Contact the embassy and notify them of this information, they should basically reject or return the application for the K-1.
I can't express how bad it must be to find out that way....
As to any future K-1 applications, this should not affect your potential re-applying. You can reapply later on without issue especially because this one was never actually "completed"; but yea... sorry to hear that type of news again..

To be clear about a few things...
You keep mentioning "visitor visa". If you're just meaning she comes as a visitor, that's fine, but Canadians (generally) do not need a visa to cross the border to visit.
To directly answer your question, CBP's potential feelings on the matter not withstanding, there's nothing stopping her from job hunting while here as a visitor. But as others have stated, she cannot legally start working while here as a visitor. If she were to find some employer willing to sponsor her, there is no way to magically change from a visitor to worker. She would have to return home to acquire the work visa and then re-enter. Unless she has a very specialized set of skills and education, most employers don't want to be bothered talking to people who aren't currently eligible to work for them. Going by your previous thread where you provide her current employment position, I think you're in for an uphill climb in proving no one in the US could do that job.
I don't mean to pile on, but the other posters have given you the best advice. We all want to have our cake and eat it too. Be patient. The legal immigration road isn't a quick journey. Visit in the meantime when you can and make sure she doesn't overstay or do anything else while in the US that could jeopardize things in the future.

You are within standard processing time... which in USCIS terms is 6 months (regardless of if it is faster or longer). Over 200 days like 2014/2015 filers? Pfft, the USCIS doesn't care about numbers, just the one they imagine!
That being said, I think you'll probably see some result on your case within a month or two. I know it's hard, but things should start to move along quicker once you get into the consulate process. Your country has nothing to do with it.. just kind of imagine it like your folder was dumped into a giant trash wheelie bin. Maybe Sue grabs five files out of that mixed up pile. Maybe Steve gets three, and Tom feels like slacking and only takes one. Boo Tom, boo. On the way all three might have a coffee break, bathroom break + while reading twitter for extended periods of time, and then get seriously distracted by Candy Crush.. in reality they are probably playing Pokémon Go... and before you know it.. oops it's time to go home.
They will get to it, just have to hang on for a while longer. When it gets over six months, then you can kick up a fuss with them.

There are a few I have seen with fiances from Algeria.
Best advice myself that I can give is stay relaxed, be patient, don't stress over the wait.
And make sure you keep track of your communications, pictures, and other items that help establish your relationship to help make the K1 process smoother.
Best of luck to you both!

That's a good point. I have seen discussions on VJ that sometimes the minimum proof is the best. Sometimes giving them too much proof so to say can cause problems.

This is definately a fear that is involved somewhere in the whole process and I feel badly for you that it has gone this way. I would definately make sure to report the fraud and back it up with all your other evidence as relating to the other relationship, the abuse. The immigrations should take care of this and hopefully should revoke the green card; but do not wait much longer or it will seem like youre the one who had a last minute change of heart.

This was surprisingly the harder thing for myself and my partner when it came to providing substantial evidence, such as text's, facetime, skype records. The things you dont really think about until they ask for it.
Best advice is think hard about whether you have ever sent money for support, there should be a record somewhere through one of the money transfer agencies. Between the two of you find any and all old emails you did not supply (this was the hardest for us as we never emailed after the first month). Any other pictures together to share. Skye or facetime records(a tough one again). Just try to compile as much extra things as you can.
As for turn around time, I would have to say it varies.
Sorry could not give more specifics but perhaps helps. Best of luck and hopefully its a quick turn around.
