Miracle28 got a reaction from Islanderk in VAWA, Part 12
Hello everyone. My journey started on dec 21st 2016 and ended yesterday on March 7th 2019 with my green card interview.
This was a very easy and fast interview for me. My appointment was at 9am and i did not wait at all. I was extremely nervous but the lady officer was one of the most compassionate and understanding human being i have met on my vawa.
She made me took the oath, asked me for some paperwork ( updated physical, EAD, passport, SS, DL, I94), asked me the yes/no questions on the i485 form then asked me where i wanted my green card sent to. The only personal questions i had were about why im still living with the abuse spouse and some talk about my family and my son. My advice on that is just to be honest and speak with your heart. She finished by telling me how long it usually takes for the green card to get in the mail and we chatted about the weather for about 5 min and that was it. It lasted for barely 30 min. 1 hour later i got an update that my card was being produced.
I think it will start to sink in when i see it in the mail but this message is to give hope to all of you. This was an almost 3 year journey for me from rhe moment i met mt lawyer for the first time ans like all of you it can get very depressing. Believe in yourself and in your story and what happened to you is valid. I wish you all a great night.

Wow! That’s really fast adjudication. Hopefully they work as fast for your new interview. I’m in Chicago and I just know I have about at least 7 months. My I-485 was just transferred on August 1st

This is what my attorney just did. Flights are over 500 dollars on that day and i have to add this updated medical file. I dont have that much money in such a short time period. Gonna suck to be waiting that long again but i rather have everything they need on that day:/

It doesn’t slow down I-360 because I-765 can be done by any officer at VSC while I-360 is only being worked on by the VAWA unit of VSC.

Same for me I filed late November. All you can do is put the EAD to work and take care of your life as you wait. Hopefully we get news before spring ends

They are wrong. USCIS often makes stupid mistakes, not that long ago USCIS issued a green card valid for 2 years for a VAWA petitioner adjusting status when the Law clearly states that VAWA petioners adjusting status must receive the GC valid for 10 years. Crew members can't adjust status in the U.S one visa journey member too had an interview and the officer told him that he could not adjust status because he was a crew member, but i advised him if this happened he should ask to see the supervisor. He asked to speak with the supervisor and of course the supervisor told the officer he was wrong, the guy could adjust status because he was a VAWA petitioner.I can go on and on about their mistakes.
