Although each case differs and is unique, that is still strange that applicants who filed in September have already gotten their citizenship before you. Did you file your application online or mail in a hardcopy? Just that reasoning alone with many others could possibly explain why there are delays in your case. USCIS can be so random in how they deal with cases.  It's  frustrating but everything will pan out eventually.

    Hello!

I know a bunch of people who are military spouses get their applications expedited especially when their husbands/wives are going to be deployed/stationed out of the country and they have to relocate the whole fam.

Just want to let you guys know that is one of the reasons why others get their citizenships earlier than usual.

I'm a military spouse too but we're not going to be relocated abroad anytime soon. I'm in line and i'm still waiting for my papers to be processed 🤣🤣🤣

I applied June 7th, 2020 and timeline says i have 8 months to wait!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

    So hang in there guys!!!

    Hey all,

my interview was this morning and I'm a little confused about everything.

We got asked a lot of questions about how we met, when we started dating, parents and sibling names, past jobs and present jobs, who attended the wedding, how he proposed, if I got an engagement ring and other basic questions, nothing tricky.

We answered all these questions with no problem.

She also asked my husband (who's American) when was the last time I left the country and for how long and unfortunately he got both answers wrong, I guess he was nervous and didn't really took the time to think about it.

She took a few seconds only to look at the pictures I brought but didn't really showed interest in any of them.

she got annoyed when we both answered questions, and told us things like "im asking you" or "let her answer"

She asked why we don't have a copy of the lease or tax return, which I had to point to her that she was literally holding them in her hands but her desk was so messy, she wasn't really looking at the documents we brought (plane tickets to vacations we took together 3 years ago for example)

We are both 28 and we don't owe anything (car or anything valuable) and she made it seemed weird we don't own stuff together.

we don't have a joint bank account because we never needed one and that's definitely seemed like a red flag.

she said it looks suspicious and that if we don't trust each other enough to share our money maybe our marriage isn't real, which I completely disagree with! It has nothing to do with trust! We just don't have the need for one yet and will probably end up having one when we start a family.

She then asked my husband how much I have in my bank account and he said the truth, that he doesn't know for sure, and again she made it seemed like it was something weird, and asked him "so you don't care and you guys don't talk about money?"

the whole end of the interview was about money which was pretty frustrating to me.

at the end she made some copies of a few pictures and that's when she actually started looking at them. Her face changed a little and she relaxed and then said she needs to review the case and that we would get an update later (when, I have no clue) and that if I do get a green card it would only be for 2 years, etc

im very afraid that this joint bank account can be the reason why we're denied, and I'm very nervous at the moment and frustrated we couldn't talk about other things (like all the birthdays and trips we took together)

she kept our tax return and gave me back the copies (I noticed it once we left) she was so messy she mixed all the originals and copies...

anyone else had a similar experience?

how long do you think I'll have to wait to get an update?

    Hey Marianne A,

I think you should not be too worried, i had almost the same experience.. We didnt own anything at the moment, we dont have a joint bank acct, im in the car insurance but i forgot to bring it to the interview.. But i had proof that im in his health care insurance, apartment lease and i brought a lot of pictures together with his family and friends

    i got approved

I think the only thing she could do now is to ask for more evidence of your relationship..

  4. My aos was approved already!! I went to my interview alone because my husband is deployed. Although i have his orders on the day of the interview i still got a rfe after the interview: they told me to send them a letter from his commanding officer.

After i send it they immediately approve my case.

So if ever your spouse is in the military deployed, dont forget to bring their orders and a commanding officer's letter with you on the interview!!!

  5. Day 79 - EAD case is still in "Case Was Received" status :( Service Request made on September 29th did not make any changes :(

I have a job offer and it is such a bummer... I don't know what to say to my employer :(

Can you describe how did you get your CA driver's license if you don't have SSN? I kinda want to do the same, since I am so bored waiting for my EAD.

I think you need you EAD first. Before applying for a license.

  6. At least your CASE READY TO BE SCHEDULED FOR AN INTERVIEW.

My I-458 stays at fingerprint fee was received on July 19. Hasn't updated since.

Me and my husband got married in San Diego Court House. He got his master degree in UCSD. :)

Do you know how long does it take to get GC for Californian filers?

I don't know either :( i have a friend got their interview quite earlier than expected. it really is a case to case basis. But usually you get the combo card first before the interview and it seems you have a faster process than the others.

just wait a little longer you might get your interview waived. lets hope for the best ;)

  7. Yay, I received two text message says my cases are updated. So it did. My EAD and AP cases are approved after 78 days. Now I'm gonna wait for it to be produced and shipped.

    Here is a quick question.

Did you guys schedule for interview before EAD and AP got approved? Or afterwards? I'm in California. I'm sure different states has different situations. Just wondering... Thanks!

    Good luck to you all.

I'm in San Diego too. Still waiting for an interview date as well..

  8. Thanks for this update. My EAD/AP was approved 2 days after yours so hopefully I will get an update about the card being mailed soon. Seems like they have had a bit of a backlog producing the cards.

Currently organizing our folder of evidence for the interview. Hope everyone who hasn't heard about their interviews gets to hear something soon.

    God bless everyone too!

thanks!!Lets keep on updating so that everyone can have a guide/estimation on their cases although i know every case is different but it alleviates the stress. Haha

    Goodluck on your interview!
