  1. I'm set on wanting one of these two computers, i'm just not really sure which. I don't trust dell computers, i've heard too many complaints on them. I have other compaq's and HP's and have never had problems with them plus their customer support is awesome. You can get online anytime day or night 24/7 and speak live on chat with a technician that can usually solve the issues you are having with your computer.

And.. Another reason that I want one of those is because they are mainly geared toward "digital photographers" they have the true color on them etc. I'm pretty big into digital photography. I just wanted to know which was better overall as far as processor and video cards etc because my fiance will be using it when he moves to the US later this year, and he's a pretty big gamer, so I want to make sure it can support all his games. I'm thinking i'm leaning more toward the Duo only because it has a PCI express video card, the other has onboard. So I could easily change the PCI video card later if I needed/wanted to. But, everyone has been telling me they'd rather an AMD processor over a Duo Intel.

By the way that's a nice monitor. My Dad just got a 32" HD tv as his monitor. He bought the 2nd computer that i'm thinking about getting the Intel one. haha.

  2. Hey everyone...

I decided to post this in the off topic forum because i'm having issues deciding which computer I want to buy. So I am going to ask everyone else's opinion on which they would buy if they had the chance to. I've got it narrowed down to two computers, they are almost identical, just different processors and memory on them. Here are links to them:

This is the cheaper of the two..

    HP 320 Gig AMD

This is the more expensive ...

    400 Gig Intel Duo

I don't really care about the cost, and I don't mind waiting for them to get the AMD computer back in stock. I just want to know an unbiased opinion on which computer is overall better. Which will run faster, work better with digital media (Games, photos, MP3's etc)

    Thanks guys!

  3. Haha. I had the same thing. I guess they got rushed for Christmas. I just posted saying Should I be concerned. We got approved Dec 19th, no updates online or anything got NOA2 in the mail on the 23rd. I just got 8 emails from USCIS saying we were approved Jan 9th! I already got a letter from NVC saying my case would be forwarded to the consulate on Jan 8th!

  4. Hey all,

I'm wondering if I should be worried about this situation. As you can tell from my signature our petition was approved just before Christmas. I got a letter in the mail on the 8th from NVC saying my case would be forwarded to the consulate. However, I never did receive my online approvals. I just checked my email and realized I had on there 8 emails from USCIS.

*** DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS E-MAIL ***

The last processing action taken on your case

    Receipt Number: WACXXXXXXXXX

    Application Type: I129F , PETITION FOR FIANCE(E)

    Current Status: Approval notice sent.

On January 9, 2007, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I129F

PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you

move before you receive the notice, call customer service.

Should this be cause for concern seeing as it says they mailed my approved notice yesterday, and I just recieved the emails today? When I've already got my NOA2 in hand and letter from NVC in hand?

  5. Ashley, you answered 18 out of 30 questions correctly!

Congratulations! Your score is in the 78th percentile. This means that if one hundred people took the test with you, your score would rank higher than 77 of them on average

When we analyzed your test, we also discovered that when it comes to quantitative ability, you measure in the 60th percentile. This score indicates you have unusually strong abilities when it comes to solving numerical problems. If there is a numerical pattern to be found, you'll find it. You've got a knack for noticing when something "isn't right." Whether you're conscious of it or not, you have an ability to simply understand when something doesn't add up. Also, when it comes to splitting the check, doing taxes, or determining the number of fans in a baseball stadium, you're the one people turn to.

  6. Not the same situation but when I went to England last they asked me two questions. First "how long are you staying?" I said "a month"... and "What is your intended purpose? Friends and family or holiday??" I said "Friends and future family" and she didn't ask anymore questions, stamped my passport and I was on my way.

  7. Well, everyone on here will tell you that you don't need an attorney unless you have unusual circumstances. If you have nothing unusual about your case (as in no divorces, convictions, etc) then you should be fine to do it yourself. I don't think even with having done everything you can totally say that it will be 100% that they will get a visa. But if you follow all guidelines, make enough to show you've over 125% over poverty level, turn everything in that they ask for and the non USC doesn't have any communiable diseases then you have a really high chance of getting the visa! There's a bit of red tape on everything it seems.

As far as being denied at POE, i've not heard this before? Maybe someone else can tell you stories..

  8. If you were to do that it can cause you problems later on down the line. They will make you show evidence that you did not intend on getting married on the visitor visa when you came over because a visitor visa is a non-immigration visa. If it was an easy way out from the waiting and being away from our loved ones we'd all be doing it, trust me. Hopefully someone else can touch on this more.

  9. Woo! Someone finally made an account! :D:thumbs:

Anyway, this will be good to know in a few weeks time when we get p3 from London. I'm still worried about the whole getting the interview too soon thing though.

What happened to your timeline by the way Jezebelseven? It's not there when I click on it!

  10. She can still travel to the USA, just make sure she has really strong ties to Mexico or they will treat her as an immigrant and not let her into the country. Good examples would be full time job, bank accounts, assets (car, rent, house payment) I guess it just depends because i've heard some people say they've had no trouble. I suppose in her event it would be easier than most of the rest of us, at least if they deny her entry she can just drive back home, most people would have to fly all the way back and have lost a lot of money in the process of trying to come over. Also if she told them she was just coming over to go shopping for a day I don't really think they would question her that much about it.

  11. I think all documents in a foreign language must be translated to English. I'm not too sure on the normal police certificate or special confirmations. I think they just want one showing you've never been arrested, or if you have for what reasons, etc. I would try asking on a regional forum on here to see if there are any people from Germany that might know.

  12. It really seems like her parents are majorly overcontrolling, I think she needs to fuss it up and tell them outright "Look i'm getting married, that's all there is to it, and you can't control my life anymore." I don't think anything will change from the way it is now until she does that to be honest. If she doesn't stick up for herself and tell them to stop being so controlling over her life, because it's her life to live, then they will keep trying to live it for her.

Ontop of that though, if she is working full-time etc and her parents don't agree she should be paying for her own wedding. She shouldn't leave buying the dress up to your parents. And as far as the car not being insured, why wasn't she paying for her own insurance instead of relying on her parents to do so? In most states its a law to be insured before driving a vehicle.

I really don't think she should feel selfish though for trying to make her own life. I suppose it'll be easier once you've moved over and can actually reassure her that she's doing the right thing when she first tells her parents no she won't do something for them.

  13. For the proof of relationship part, the only requirement for that is that you've met in the last two years. All the stuff that you've mentioned the flight tickets, pictures, passport stamps (majorly good to have) will all help support the fact especially if they have dates on them etc. It will probably be a bit harder at the interview because you have to show your continued relationship, so when you get to the interview part you will need a lot more. By that point though you will probably have been to see him again so you will have more proof.

Where he was denied entry into the US should have no effect on his being approved for a visa.

These last two parts im not completely sure on, but for the sponsor part i'm pretty sure you do need to still send in your tax returns because even if you have a co-sponsor you are still the primary sponsor, so you have to show in some way you can support them. The address part, I would think you should put the address you live at now if you do not know a new address, you can always update it later on in the process?

  14. The question that i'm really wondering at this stage, is if he's never had a drivers license before will that hinder him getting one when he moves to Ohio? I know he will probably have to keep the temp. license a bit longer than 15 mins because he doesn't have an actual UK license yet.

The question he is asking me is if it would be worth him taking the driving courses in the UK to get a license there before he comes over, or will it really not matter and should he not waste the money on it? I told him how easy it is to get a license in Ohio compared to the UK as far as classes with instructors and how hard the test is, etc. We're mainly wondering about the cost issues.

  15. Hey everyone,

I've started to wonder a bit about drivers licenses. My fiance is a UK citizen and will be moving to the US. He does not own a drivers license in the UK, only provisional license. Does anyone know how to go about getting a drivers license in Ohio? I've read in places that you have to show you UK license to get one in the US?

  16. 1. No they don't inform you, you will just receive a letter back from them from there. (NOA1 will say from CSC)

    2. WAC is the beginning of the case number you will be assigned from CSC. NOA1 is through the mail, and I believe most people receive it in about 2-4 weeks.

    3. After you receive your NOA1 you can sign up on uscis.gov with the WAC # that will be on your NOA1. After you do that, there is a spot for "last updated" when your last updated date changes, then you have been "touched."
