So we got our RFE today in the mail. Apparently they are stating that we didn't send in the medical exam which we did. So, just wondering... are they going to cause us more trouble when we send it in and it was May of last year 2007? Seeing as they want one within a year. We did file in April though so it should be sufficient. All it states is that they need the medical exam, and it had to be by a civil surgeon on the approved list. We did it in London at the doctors office they make you go to for the K-1. And sent the supplement form that you can send. It doesn't state anything about anything specifically being missing like vaccinations or anything like that, just they are trying to basically say we didn't send one?

Has anyone ever heard of them clicking the wrong thing? I Mean i'm sure they have buttons or something they click when they do status updates. Maybe they meant to click the "Approved" And not the "RFE" button
... Wishful thinking? I'm still kind of ticked that I didn't get an email though!
I haven't seen anyone say they got an RFE this far through the process either. We should be getting approved right now to be honest as there are quite a few people that filed later than us that are already getting approved. We were put on the backburner on the K-1 as well.
Good thing is, My Husband starts his first US job today! Well an Orientation type thing. So hope that all goes well!

So, I went on the USCIS website to check and see if we had been touched again today. I didn't receive any notices from them, but I clicked on it to see if there was a status update as it was touched again today. Instead of saying it's now pending at the service center to which it was sent, it says that they've sent us an RFE. Wonderful! Probably for something completely ridiculous! Anyone know how long it normally takes to receive an RFE after it's sent?
About a week max.
You didn't get an email, just an update on the site?
Odd that they'd send you an RFE so late after your EAD and all that. I'm guessing it's something they lost or something they're too lazy to verify with your other documents
Yeah. I am signed up for email updates or whatever. I got an email on Monday saying that it was pending at the service center, which is the THIRD time i've received that same email. So I've been checking each day. I didn't get any emails today from them but I clicked on it and it says we have an RFE. The only thing I can think of is that on the support documents I had just started a new job and I sent them a letter from my employer stating how much I was going to make (Which was over the amount needed) but I was starting right about the same time we sent out the paperwork, so I didn't have any pay stubs or anything. But, if it were that I would think they would have sent an RFE before they even transferred it to CSC. How annoying. Are you able to call them and find out what it's for so you can get it ready before you even get the notice in the mail?

Ok, So my husband and I are having our big for show, friends and family wedding coming up on September 6th. I'm having a really hard time picking a song to dance with my dad to! We don't want something sappy. My dad and I are pretty close and more so into older rock type music. For the bride and groom first dance, we are doing Something by the Beatles. They are my favorite band, i'd rather not another Beatles song though... but something similar would be nice. I really need suggestions!!

Hey all, just thought i'd update. I called the customer service line to ask about the address change forms etc to make sure I had sent all the forms in I needed to. I then asked if we could get an expedite on our EAD, I was informed without my husband there to say it was ok to speak with me, they were not able to talk with me regarding that. However, he didn't get around to calling them today but I checked my email on my lunch break at work and we were approved!
Happy day!

I just filled it out online on USCIS's webpage. Whatever form they have on there, then I got two notices that the address had been updated but at the bottom is says you also need to notify department of homeland security within 10 days, I kind of assumed they would do that, but if not, then I need to know how to do so?
-
Hey all,
Quick question. We recently moved into our own home. I did update our address on the USCIS website where we have our cases pending because I knew you had to do so within 10 days of moving. We got a notice today in the mail for our AOS and EAD basically stating we changed our address yada yada, then at the bottom it says you must also notify Department of Homeland Security? Would that be included when I notified USCIS, or do I need to also notify DHS and let them know? If so, how do I go about notifying them?
Thanks!

When should I start worrying that we haven't been approved yet for his EAD? I'm noticing a lot of people who filed around the same time as us, that have already received theirs in the mail. We just bought a house and kind of need the EAD!

I don't know if this has been asked before, and i'm sure it probably has so sorry in advance but i'm in a bit of a hurry...
I just got an email from CRIS saying that our I-485 has been transfered to CSC which i've heard before is a good thing because you can get approved without an interview needing to be done? But... they did nothing with the I-765? Do they normally not transfer that as well? It wasn't even touched.
I'm thinking they must not transfer it as well, but i'd rather be on the safe side by asking. We need that work authorization pronto!

I believe you would actually have to apply for a K3 to get her into the country, then apply for AOS afterward. The K3 is the spousal visa, so you would have to apply for that to get a visa that would allow her to entry the country as an immigrant, and not a visitor. Then you would have to apply for the adjustment of status to make her a permanent resident, and be able to get a greencard to work and such. Someone correct me if i'm wrong, please

Woohoo! We just sent our case out this week on Monday. It's been signed for at the lockbox. I hope this time goes a lot speedier than last time

Ok, so my husband and I just got married back at the end of Feb. We just got our actual marriage certificate in the mail this week so now we are looking into doing AOS. My questions are... With AOS don't you automatically get a green card? So you only have to file EAD if you want to work while you are waiting for the AOS? If that's the case is it even worth filing the EAD because doesn't it normally take just as long to process, and why spend the extra $340? Another question I had that I didn't really think of at the time... Wedding pictures? We were married by the mayor of the city. We are planning on having a big wedding later with family and friends in Sept. We wanted to remember that day, not the mayor because we only had a certain amount of time to legally get married day lol. So we didn't take any pictures. Actually... I refused to have pictures taken because I wanted to remember the "big day." Is that a really bad thing? I can get letters from my parents stating they were the witnesses and they were there, plus we have a thing that has the vows we said to each other and our pretty version (novelty) of the marriage certificate in it signed by the mayor.
That's all i can think of for now, but i'm sure at some point i'll end up with more questions

I don't know if i'm too late to reply on this or not... but this website says they sell them in California.

I don't know if they ship them or not. Also, I have bought them before at JungleJims. Which is a local to Cincinnati international market, but you might give them a call and see if they do phone orders? I don't remember how much they cost, but they have them pretty much everytime I go.

Hey all. This is going to be a silly question, and i'm sure I could look it up online somewhere, i'm just not sure where to look. My fiance and I wanted to get my soon to be MIL a nice set of kitchen knives for Christmas. Would that be restricted to send USPS to the UK? I know they ask you if you have any dangerous items etc, but I think they're looking more for firearms that type of thing. I was looking on like argos, marks and such to find sets, but the sets there don't seem to be as nice as what you can get here a lot cheaper. I'd rather pay less here, and spend the money shipping it to get an overall better item. I was even looking on Amazon because I know you can send international on there, but everytime i'd put a nice set in the basket it'd tell me it was restricted (ex. Chicago cutlery, Henckles etc) but when i'd put a ####### set (ginsu) it'd act like I could send it? It made no sense!!
I'm going a bit on the crazy side because I also contacted Bed bath and beyond per their website it says to dial this number for international orders... I did, a guy picks up, I say to him "Hi, I was just wondering if I could get a quote on how much it would cost to ship something to the UK?" he says "ma'am. I have NO clue!" and hung up on me!! No i'm sorry, bye... Just hung up! Some good customer service! I hate how rude people are this time of the year!!

Has anyone ever had to send things back in though after being at the embassy? He has to send in his police report and passport to get his visa. The courier that picked it up today told him 7-10 days was right because of how long it would take the embassy to process it!? I'm so confused..and annoyed!!
-
Quick question. My fiance got ahold of couriers today, because he got his police report. The embassy told him it would be 1-2 days for him to get his visa back after they picked up his information. The couriers told him 7-10 WORKING days!?? Is that correct? I don't understand why the embassy would lie if that's the case?
-
He could get a job with that though correct? Although i'm not really sure why they do that, because you'll never get your greencard in time for when the EAD expires, so you'd have to quit the job you already got?
-
Does anyone know if they're still doing that? Where if you fly through JFK you are able to get an EAD for like 90days or something, i've heard it before but I haven't seen much on it recently?
Thanks..
-
Yeyyy!! I got online this morning to "Guess what!! I got my police report!!
" I'm happy now. 33 days it took to get it. Of course, the sms postal people that you have to get to pick it up, are closed on the weekends! Now we're just hoping we can get him here for Thanksgiving!
-
I think i'm going to lose my mind! We did try to explain the situation, but they said since it had been longer than 6 months since we got the last one, he had to reapply and wait the 40 days. I don't see why it takes 40 days to get a stupid piece of paper that says he's done nothing wrong. He's not a criminal but they sure treat him like one! What's that saying "Guilty until proven innocent?" In the US, you can get a police report SAME DAY! And the UK is much smaller than the US.
-
Congrats!!
-
Can anyone tell me how long it's been taking recently to get one?
I know it can take up to 40 days... has it actually been taking exactly that long though? We've been waiting 31 days, and I think i'm going to go insane!! We've been approved pending this stupid piece of paper, someone give me a word of encouragement! lol. I seriously just want all this to be over
-
Yeah my fiance tried that, but they said since it had been longer than 6 months since he originally applied for one, he'd have to reapply. He's staying optimistic that he'll get it sooner. I'm not. I just hope he's here by thanksgiving.
RFE on medical
in Adjustment of Status (Green Card) from K1 and K3 Family Based Visas
Posted
Hey everyone,
I posted this in April Filers, but I think I need a bit more advice on what to do.
We already received our EAD, and then got an RFE. I received the RFE yesterday in the mail which is an RFE for the medical exam. I sent it in originally, and have heard that USCIS is notorious for losing the medical exam documents. I actually sent in the supplement form as he had his medical done at the knightsbridge doctors or whatever that they make you in London for the K-1 Visa. This was done in May 2007. My main concern is: We sent out the original packet April 2008, when the medical was still valid. It is now August 2008 and they want a medical that's within a year. So, will they not accept the one we sent in originally? The paperwork is totally not even specific, it doesn't state if there was something we missed like a vaccination. I didn't really understand the knightsbridge one. There were just a load of check marks and K-1's written under the vaccinations, with no key on what that meant. If he had those, if he needed those? Could the RFE be because we don't have documention that he's had those vaccinations? I think one of the ones that said K-1 under it was the varricela one, which he's had chicken pox before, so he shouldn't have to get that one, for example. If I was to call would they give me a more specific reason other then there is an issue with the medical? The way the paperwork made it sound it was as if I hadn't even sent one. It was like 2 pages long, and said it had to be done by a civil surgeon etc. I'm so frustrated right now because we are about to have our big wedding for family and friends in like three weeks, then we're going on vacation for a week, and we just bought a house. We can't really afford the extra couple hundred it will cost to do ANOTHER medical. He had nothing wrong with him at the first one, i would think that should be sufficient.
