I sent this guy 10000 bucks and I got this woman in the mail, but I was pissed-off because I thought it included the shipping and that was another 537 bucks!
(next time I'll specify a smaller woman so the shipping is cheaper)
I'm not really sure what to think about this post. I suppose all I have to say really is just because someone found the person they are going to marry through a dating site, it doesn't mean they don't love them. We are all human beings, it doesn't matter what country we come from, we all have to wait through this horrid visa process.
I hope you really didn't miss my joke.
Amyone who goes through this process knows how sad and pathetic its is when people refer to our loved one as a "mail order bride". I used to get mad at people who did that, now I just laugh at them because they're so fracking stoopid.
Sorry. I didn't mean your post, I meant the whole topic! I was laughing about your joke
Guess I should have been more specific.

I have my heavy tag from my luggage too. I had to pay overweight charges last time I went to England.
As far as disclaimers it didn't have any online, but it did want phone numbers from both fiance and fiancee.. Hmm..

I'm just called either American, Yank, or Yankee. My fiance is from England though so they are more familiar with Americans, and unless they were to hear me talk they wouldn't really know I wasn't English
. I have noticed though people tend to ask me about famous US people because they realize that my accent is different (Same with England, different accents) and they tend to ask me where I am at in relation to where those people are from, or where those people are from because their accents sound totally different. I'm guessing that's the same for just about every country.
When my fiance comes here, they call him just simply Brit... my dad called him "The brit" He did call him Liverpool for a while until he went to the UK and realized they have different accents for different parts and he had only heard the accent of "The beatles" so to him, everyone from England was from Liverpool.

Oh man, that video was hilarious. It did look like her real hair, don't know for sure, but man i'd freak out too! Not to the point of cutting off my own hair though... but she said they had an hour, you'd think they could get to another place within an hour and they could do something with it. And if she didn't like it, why would she have left the hair salon with it like that?
Let's just hope that doesn't happen to any of us

Ah, good idea. But sadly, I don't. I have some beer mats, that count?
-
Woah. That's a bit crazy and brutal.

Wow! I think some of those people should sell their findings on ebay and make tens of thousands of dollars. That piece of toast made like $28k didn't it?
I like the frankenstein one, haha.

Hey everyone,
I was listening to the radio yesterday and found out in Cincinnati they are doing this huge $50k wedding giveaway from the radio station and participating sponsors. Anyhoo, I thought I might enter it, but you have to make an engagement scrapbook and write an essay about your love story. I feel we might have a shot, seeing as our story won't be the traditional... "We met at a bar, met at school" etc. I'm not good at scrapbooking though. I was wondering if you guys had any ideas on what to include in an engagement scrapbook. By the way it doesn't say if you get them back, so i'm thinking to not include anything thats one of a kind - like cards he's send me or something.
Hmm...

I believe if you look in the guides it will show you exactly how to fill out the G-325A. I don't remember off hand how to do it.
An attachment letter on how you met seems like it would be clear enough. Make sure to mention you've lived together since a certain date.
As far as evidence goes you could use pictures, any other bills at all that is in both your names or possibly show things sent to the same address with your names on them (even if its not together?). You can also send letters from people who have seen you together. Your parents, friends, landlord if they know you live together, etc.

Haha. I read that and said to my fiance "Does it count if you use your computer 99% of the time to speak to your significant other?"

My kitty is afraid of the grass. I'd venture to say he wouldn't like snow too much either.
Both of your kitties are major cute, the one I believe you said was the maine ####### has a face like i've never seen on a domestic cat before! Interesting. Looks almost part lion!
This is my cat... Sebastien
Sorry quality not the greatest, from camera phone. I have a better under my photos. Orange cats are the greatest though!

Been an alright day I suppose. Although I wish the time 'till next December would go a lot more quickly.
Happy Anniv.
Our anniv. of dating is coming up in March - 4 years.
No plans for the weekend at all. Probably will be quite boring.

My fiance sent me a letter once with something inside it, and when it got here it had been cut open and all that was left was the letter. Pretty sad. I hate USPS though, the last package I sent was only about 3 pounds, cost me $33. Bit of a rip off if you ask me, the contents weren't even much more than that. Makes me look forward to sending Christmas presents overseas after he moves here.

I have a quick question about this whole cover letter thing. Do you think it would help in my case where we are afraid we will have the interview too soon? We are not wanting to get married until next December, and my fiance doesn't want to come here until after October 13th (His sister is getting married). We can't really have an interview until the end of April or beginning of May if he wants to stay that long. We just got packet 3 the other day and are stressing about trying to hold it too long. We still have to apply for the police certificate and everything, so I know it's possible to hold it a bit, but not for 3 1/2 months.
And by the way, how can you guys afford to go shopping there? So expensive with exchange rates! I was just in England for a month and brought back like nothing, aside from loads of chocolate. Mmm.

I got 8 emails. Congrats though!!

You can drive on a regular UK one -Just remember to bring the paperwork that goes with the photo licences as some Car Rental companies will refuse yo if you forget - From personal experiance
What paperwork are you referring to so I can let them know?
-
Hey all,
This question may have been asked before, but I couldn't find anything on it when I searched... I am wondering what you need if you are from the UK wishing to drive in the US on a visa waiver? Do you have to get an international drivers license or is the normal UK drivers permit allowed with a passport? I am asking for the sake of my fiance's family who will be coming over for the wedding and want to rent a car while they're here, for obvious reasons. I just want to make sure they don't get here and have an unpleasant surprise to find out they need an international drivers license or something.

I just came back from the UK this week. I went in Dec 9th. My exact conversation with the nice lady at customs going into the UK was:
"Hello, passport please... How long are you staying?"
Me: "a month"
"For what reason? Vacation? family? friends?"
Me: "Vacation, friends and future family"
"Have a nice day"
In all honesty if you don't want to get hastled i'd just say you're going over for vacation. If you're only staying a short time they won't think anything of it. I've never had them ask more than 2-3 questions.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I have a little bit better of an idea now than I did when I went into this. I like that comment about the 20" widescreen comp. My dad just bought the 400 gig HP Intel Duo with a 32" HD widescreen monitor an 5.1 surround system. Quite nice in my opinion.
As far as getting a mac. I don't like them because games do not work as well on them and they are harder to find in mac format. Everything you would use normally is different on a mac from a normal PC, it's way too much of a hastle. Not to mention my dad is a computer technician and if anything screws up on my PC he can fix it, if I had a mac i'd have to take it somewhere to get fixed.

Good luck on your journey.
I totally agree with your statement "our desire to want something that most might perceive as unatainable" If I tell someone my fiance is from the UK they're always like "What? How do you do that?" They must obviously do not know what true love is. If they only knew how hard it was to walk away and get on a plane knowing that you won't see the one you love for 10 months. I think everyone on VJ must be the strongest set of individuals i've ever met.

I would say check with the airline too. I searched it on google and found this webpage where people are writing good stories and horror stories about bringing their wedding dresses on their airline.

Might give you some sort of idea. A lot of people are saying it's much better to ship it, but that would be kind of costly from the UK i'm sure. However a lot of people said if you get a nice flight attendant they can normally put it in a closet for you or possibly even lay it on a seat thats near you so it doesn't get wrinkled up.

Ohh. I'm glad you asked about this, i'm in the same situation. Although I wonder, I had a job for most of last year and I was on unemployment because where I was working closed. When I fill out the part about how much I make a year, can I put how much I actually made last year? I haven't had a job yet this year, and that could look kind of worrying putting zero!
