That's a different scenario, in your original post it sounds like you have a ticket with one airline and can just switch it for another, it sounds like you're going and buying another ticket.
Most people don't have the disposable income and buy their tickets ahead of time.
Even refundable tickets costs more.

Then to do with what?  What future headache did you have in mind?  No answer tells me you were just making it up out of thin air.  That's not how we help people here.

I'm not the MOST experienced member here, but since 2005, I've never heard of one member EVER needing an Apostille for anything, Immigration or not.  If you have, I'm waiting to read about it.  Fire away.

So when you say certified translator, do you mean you used a service and paid a company to do it?
 
They essentially wanted the translation done by the same person I'm guessing, that stinks.
 

So myself and others are just getting messages that our cases were sent to NVC on Sept 1st.
This means that they do perform certain actions at certain times of the month, so even people after me probably get sent at the same time.
 
Question I have, when do you think is a good day to call?
Friday or Monday, being we had a holiday this week as well, and they probably don't get it into their system right away.

so that means they group them together and mail on a certain day.
Might be too soon to call with the holiday.
 
Even when NVC does receive it, doesn't mean they get it into their system right away, but probably need some days for that.

I wasn't going to, I was going to do exactly what you mentioned.
 
You have to figure, you're already approved, the NVC is basically gathering docs and making sure its in order.
At the interview they may or may not ask about the additional evidence.
In a high fraud country like Mexico they might, but its probably also on a case by case basis.
I'll also bring the original proof I provided.
 
From one review I saw they were more interested in the police report than anything.

That part made me very nervous too cause it says "certified"
From the sounds of it you wouldn't need to translate it according to the site, but I don't trust it and some people have said they've gotten checklists on it, while some say they've been ok.

I had seen somewhere here that Mexico is taking up to 2 months to get an interview.
Also I think they only schedule interviews at the very end and beginning of the month

You won't know they're looking at it unless you get an RFE, you're next contact should be NOA2.
 
You should get something by the end of the month, Nebraska was backed up due to the rush of applications in Nov/Dec.

Well you can try calling but they might tell you you're in normal processing time until the update the processing times on the website, they usually do that around the 15th of the month.

Nebraska is not affected by the hurricane at all.
 
You can try downloading the USCIS app, in the nearby section enter your LIN number and see if there are others with the same date still awaiting approval.

I'm also Mexico, pd is December 13th and I was approved August 21st

It sounds like you don't know much about the process, and hence thats why used a lawyer.

If you fill out the details in your timeline, if you know them, it'll give you a general timeline of when it might be completed

Ah good to know, I had seen a few others that took only 15 days, but I'm sure it doesn't even register for a few more, maybe I'll try every other day rather than every day.

Just called NVC to check if my case was received, only took about 20min on hold
They didn't have my LIN number in their system and told me it takes up to 6 weeks and they'd contact me yada yada
Its been 15 days now and thats when most people have had their case received.
 
So I guess I'll try again in maybe 2 days.

Yup, and thats what people seem to keep ignoring here, its not saying that everyone does it, but we sure do know it happens a lot.
And its reasons like this that they're proposing to change the laws, not specifically this one, but the ability to bring your whole family over.
I imagine they'll try to tighten more immigration laws in time.
