  1. Hello! Just yesterday, I've been so nervous and freaking out abt this interview because I just started gathering the documents and printing stuff.

The interview schedule was 9AM today. We came around 8:30. They called us in around 9:20AM. First, she asked for our (my husband and I) IDs, my EAD card and SSN card. Then asked all the yes/no questions that were in the AOS questionnaire. Then asked how my husband and I met, when he proposed, if I met his family and if he met mine. Basically the timeline of our life together. Then she asked if there are documents or things I wanted to show her. I printed and photocopied a bunch of things: pictures, insurances, bills, certificates. She only wanted a few pictures, insurance of my husband stating me as primary beneficiary, our credit card bill with both our names in it, and a mail with my name and address. That was it, she said if she need more documents, it'll be on mail, and that green card will be delivered after 2 weeks. It was a short one and she was very friendly. After the interview, I apologized to my husband for freaking out so much.

I remember searching for AOS interview experiences a lot before the interview and figured sharing my own story will help ease other's worries for their upcoming interview too.. :D

  2. Help!

My husband and I are planning to have a church wedding in the Philippines on March - one year after our wedding here in the USA. I assume this will count as renewal of vows, right? My parents from Manila was told that my husband and I are required to be there in person (in Archdiocese Intramuros) because they will be the one to tell us which church we can get married to because he's a foreigner. Is this true? We are going to Manila only 2 weeks before the wedding so I want to get everything set up and ready ahead of time. Can anyone help/walk me through this? Thank you..

  3. My fiancee went in for her NBI clearance for our interview on  the 15th. But they said it wouldn't be ready until the 17th! When she went back to  ask for it to be expedited, they told her to come back tomorrow to ask.

I'm pretty sure we need it for the interview, but is there some way to expedite the NBI?

We'll find out tomorrow I guess, but we're freaking out. I already have plane tickets to be there on the 15th, but leaving on the 17th. And tickets are so expensive! Any advice please?

  4. I know this is discussed a lot in other places, but when I search for it, I can't filter by date, and I keep getting discussions from 2010. I've been assuming that the sputum test takes 2 months, but I've recently been told that it's actually closer to 3 weeks right now. Does anyone have a recent experience?

    Thanks!

  5. Hello, I paid the visa fee online yesterday. Where is my receipt number? I tried typing the confirmation number I received by email but I got this:

No valid record can be found for the entered receipt number. Please validate that your receipt number is correct and that you have paid the correct amount for the visa which you are applying for.

    :crying::crying::crying:

  6. I was offline for a few days due to no wifi. In my finance's village in Ukraine but we went to his aunt's house to check our status and we were approved!!!!! Can hardly believe it! I'm so happy we were able to be together when we got the news and now it won't be so hard to say goodbye!

    August 1 NOA1

    September 28 NOA 2

I didn't get an email though, can I still call NVC?

When you call in, they ask for your USCIS number and your notice date. Then they tell you it's not there yet, and it could take up to 48 days.

As long as you have those two things, you don't need the hard copy.

    Oh, and congrats! =)

  7. From 2013 to 2015, the income reported on my 1040 is very low because it only covered rental income in the US, and most of my income was earned in Hong Kong, and was exempted from paying tax in the US because I already paid tax in Hong Kong. It shows up on my 1040, but it's exempted before I get to line 22, where I'm pulling numbers from.

Has anyone had experience with this before? Has it caused problems? I can get the letter from my current job showing plenty of salary, but I only just started last October.

Thanks for sharing any advice or experiences!
